It was disappointing to look out our bedroom window to see a broken chair & old building materials ( which I have a photo of), dust in the exhaust fan in the bathroom and rusty towel rail & horrible grout lines in the bathroom. Always held Mercure to high standards and this lowered it for me

We had a wedding in Gerringong and encouraged guests to stay at the Mercure. The wedding does not have parking, so guests must be picked up and taken to the wedding venue. The Merure are the closest hotel and are aware of this, however they have no plan to assist guests with a slightly earlier check in, to allow time to get changed and get on the bus. Clearly a money maker to ensure guests book the night before as well. We called a number of times to see if guests could check in an hour early as there was a bus picking up guests from the hotel to take them to the venue. I explained the situation, that guests are travelling from Sydney, and need to be on a bus by 2.30pm. The Mercure definitively said "no" and suggested that guests could ring up on the day to see if this could be arranged which was no help at all. We had guests that booked at other hotels, and arranging a slightly earlier check in was not a problem (easy, simple, standard). I wish I had arranged our guests to stay elsewhere. I also booked accomodation for my elderly parents in their late 70's for two nights for the wedding (Fri/Sat nights), they required a ground level apartment and walk in shower. When my parents arrived they were told that I had mistakingly booked for Sat/Sun, gave them the run around and placed them in a room upstairs. I called The Mercure hotel after receiving a call from my parents who had already started unpacking all their gear. I explained that I had a confirmation email for accomodation for the Fri/Sat night, I spoke to the lady who had taken my booking and we had discussed the needs required for my parents. She remembered me, and said she would call me back. Renee did her utmost to assist once I called to complain, but by this stage my parents were settled in their upstairs room. I was embarrassed, the hotel had messed up the booking dates and didn't have a room for my elderly parents which accommodated their needs. Overall the hotel was not willing to consider early check in regardless of the circumstances. My advice is to book elsewhere as all the other hotels offered an earlier check in without hesitation. If booking for a guest, check and double check your booking. Call The Mercure the week before, call the Mer cure the day before, then call after your guests arrive......and if you don't want to do all that coordinating for one or two nights accomodation......book elsewhere. On a positive note, the food & service we had at The Mercure restaurant was outstanding.

I have been to the hotel when it was Bella Chara and it was a great experience. Returning back down South I immediately thought to book there and was happy to see it was available, as Bella Chara was incredibly hard to get into as it was always booked out. From the moment we turned n the driveway the place was run down, tired and unloved. Everything was old and in need a repair. The wardrobe in the room stunk of moth balls, and when we asked for an extra two towels were told that needed to be checked first. The wild winds below the furniture in the pool and around the garden (including glass) and it was several hours until anyone went out to clean it up. The restaurant offered very little in the way of food choice so we ended up having food delivered. The dishwasher didn't open, the bed was badly joined together so you couldn't lay in the middle and if you sat on the lounge you slid straight back off. It felt like the place was being run into the ground. The South Coast is so beautiful its a huge shame a hotel group hasn't cornered that luxury hotel accommodation market.

Just a disaster, Restaurant closed. Gave us an upgrade then charged $50 for it. Try finding somewhere decent to eat in Gerringong, we were told the Bowling Club? It made to bar scene in Star Wars look normal. Ended up at Cronins Hotel.

The rooms need some TLC. The king bed was uncomfortable. The room was not cleaned properly. lolly wrappers under bed. Tea not replenished and open packs of sugar and equal. Very very very loud wedding until late.

I have stayed there 3 nights in the last 2 weeks for work. I was a little concerned at how well the cleaners do their job on the 2nd time. Upon arrival I pulled the iron out of the cupboard to find 2 x jackets in the wardrobe, also the shelving above the fridge covered in dust and a used hand towel in the back of one of the pigeon holes underneath the sink in the bathroom.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food in the restaurant was very good and the WiFi was excellent given that it was a business trip. The hotel is showing a bit of age in a few places but it was definitely value for money and I have already booked in for my next trip next week.

Like I got knife cut on my finger and I ask for bandage but they say we don’t have around 8:30 pm . In morning breakfast like I am vegetarian I try to eat pan cake but it was half cook and in the resort there was no room service facilities. They need to write on the website and in the morning I ask for toothpaste but they told we don’t have . So in short I will never prefer any family or friend to stay there. Thank you

We had a lovely weekend in Gerringong to celebrate a wedding. Our Mercure room was large with a lovely view and everything we could need. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, with attentive service and great offerings on the menu ... a real surprise for hotel dining which can often be “hit-or-miss”.
