We had a terrific stay at your property . The service and food were outstanding. We had an amazing dinner on our anniversary at your restaurant . As it was our anniversary our room was decorated for the occasion, and that was a very pleasant surprise. The location of your property is ideal for touring the castle and village, and it allowed us to learn much about Carcassonne and the surrounding area.

« Absolutely wonderful, a jewel in the crown of Carcassonne. »

Myself and my three friends had the most wonderful 3night stay, during which we were made to feel very special.. the hotel is steeped in history and so very well presented in every way.. the rooms 108 and 104 were just lovely, clean, spacious and each with their own patio onto the lovely gardens. Breakfast was a delicious affair and the choice of food was vast. Very relaxed and enjoyable. The dinner was a wonderful experience and the taste of the deliciously prepared food is still in my mind. The hotel is situated in such a good position for exploring all of the city. The staff were all so attentive and helpful. From the moment we arrived by the transfer chauffeur, to the lovely receptionists and the attentive dinning room service. We could not fault anything ... and will definitely be returning and recommending the hotel.,, thankyou so much

« Fantastic hotel in an amazing location »

It was a special trip for us and it allowed us to relax. The food was of an excellent quality along with the service. Our spacious room had a great view of Carcassonne and the castle. The free tour that we attended was great and very informative. The windows did need a clean, in our room but as the weather was good opening then to the balcony got around that issue. Bar staff were very attractive thank the all. The young girl who checked us in and out was very helpful. My wife used the Spa and the treatment was great. Only real downside was the pool was closed and we on really found out the day before we checked in

The pool at your hotel is a very special sanctuary and was one of the main reasons for going out of our way to visit Carcassone and to stay at Hôtel de la Cité again. It was out of bounds and could not be accessed. Otherwise, the room was very good as was the service.

« Beautiful, relaxing setting, excellent service and wonderful staff. »

We felt relaxed from the moment we arrived. The staff were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The ambiance throughout the hotel was warm and welcoming. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, as was the whole hotel. The breakfast staff were first class. The quality of the breakfast was excellent and the choice was wide. We loved our stay in the hotel.

A loud music at the restaurant till 1 a.m. Early in the morning (4 a.m.) cars start to drive. No chance to sleep more than 3 hours. Сroissants were not fresh at the breakfast.

« No swimming pool and no table for dinner spoiled an otherwise excellent stay »

We had booked this hotel in the middle of a 10 day stay in France, specifically to be able to relax and swim, as we both have previous back injuries. We were therefore really disappointed to be told on our arrival that the pool was closed, with no alternative offered. Despite staying three nights, neither were we able to have dinner in the hotel as all tables were booked , again very unsatisfactory and spoiling what would have been a great break in Carcassonne.

« Luxe, refinement and dive into the past! »

Perfectly located in the heart of the city, the Hotel de la Cité is the perfect place to stay and discover Carcassonne. Entering in the hotel is like a dive in the past, we really enjoyed resting and relaxing in the beautiful garden or in the English-style bar when the wind is a bit too present. Carcassonne is indeed a windy city better having some warm clothes! Our room has a beautiful terrasse with a spectacular view of the “new” city and the country side. The king size bed was very comfortable with high quality linens. Highly recommend to stay there.

I felt the lady in the car park was disorganised and did not give a clear explanation of how to get to the hotel . The location is excellent but the bedrooms and hallways could do with freshening up.

« Good performance, badly let down by breakfast. »

The room and dinner were excellent, although our main waiter seemed bored. The breakfast was not a success for you. Most of your guests descended like locusts at about 10am. In no time at all there was almost nothing to eat. Every time a new dish appeared, it vanished as guests demolished it in panic. Many dishes were not replaced before the end of service. We were forced to breakfast in the library and no hot food. I managed to purloin the last 2 small croissants. We travel a lot - the best breakfasts, spread and service have been at the Illa D’Or, Porto Pollensa, Mallorca. If you could replicate their performance your breakfasts would be an attraction in themselves rather than the chaos which we experienced.

Hotel room and staff were excellent. The tasting menu was delicious but the wine was a disappointment. When experiencing other tasting menus, you received a different wine with each course with an explanation as to why this particular wine was chosen. When I asked why a certain wine(red) was chosen, I was told and I quote ‘ it is a surprise’. For a tasting menu this was very disappointing. In future, if staying here I would not choose this menu and definitely choose my own wines. As it was our 40th wedding anniversary, I was sad that it had not lived up to my previous experiences of this type of menu. Overal, staff were helpful and friendly.

« The location s spectacular, but perhaps because it was early in the season we found the service poor. »

We loved the location within the Cite walls. We found the service for a 5 star hotel to be poor. On our first evening we ordered the signature cocktail (which was very good), but took over 15 minutes to arrive, we ordered a second, but it had not arrived 30 minutes later when we needed to go for dinner. The reception team were unable to recommend a wine tour!! We found one on the internet. We had very poor service when we choose to eat for a second night at the hotel. Finally the day we left we got dropped in the car park in the rain, as our taxi was delayed. It made no sense as someone arrived later and was able to open the waiting room. I know you don’t control the taxis, but why not treat your guests with respect. The second driver was helpful.

« Good customer service »

We booked the hotel as a special treat having recently suffered a family bereavement. We were extremely disappointed with the room we were given for the first night. It was in an inferior part of the hotel with dirty carpets and we were kept up with noise late at night and early in the morning, resulting in very little sleep. There was only one window in the room and we have stayed in far superior rooms for much less money. Fortunately the receptionist moved us into two separate rooms the next day. They were lovely but the showers did not work properly so we had to use the handheld hoses instead. No help was offered for taking the suitcases down to reception. We had booked at La Barbacane where we were extremely disappointed by the attitude of the waiters but we managed to discuss this with the very enderstanding and excellent restaurant manager. Overall, we were disappointed with our stay and will not be staying at this hotel again.

The private parking and our guided tour as we were driven into Carcassonne were delightful and quite helpful. Everyone on the staff was equal cordial and accommodating. I was surprised how many other guests we enjoyed talking to as well. It was an unforgettable delight.

« Comfortable hotel, very professional staff »

Very professional greeting at car park and friendly porter. Staff on reception were also friendly and professional. Hotel is charming but could be updated a little. Breakfast was varied and of a very high standard. Drinks were a little on the expensive side. We took coffee in the garden which was a wonderful space. Coffee was not good unfortunately.

« A beautiful hotel in a beautiful place »

I have just injured my knee, and was so very happy to be staying in the walls of carcasonne. The room was nearly perfect, with the exception of a glue issue on the arm of the desk chair. Decorating was understated, and perfect. Breakfast was full of options, with the sole exception that I felt the eggs too runney.
