Advised by email the day before we were due to stay that there was a function from 3pm to 11pm so parking would be minimal. We arrived to find out it was a travellers wedding and guests drinking around cars in car park. At 10 pm we heard screaming, and fighting between guests broke out in the car park at the rear of the hotel, swearing and screaming in bar area, 2 security were there and police were called to handle disruption. Was very frightening and unpleasant to see and we feared for our safety and that of our vehicle. In the morning we had unruly children knocking on our room door and running off and then had them half dressed throwing food in the breakfast room being very loud, I had to tell them to pick food up off the floor they had thrown, I shouldn’t of had to but one else was. Your rooms are adequate for what we wanted and your staff are very friendly but that aside was the most unpleasant stay/experience I’ve ever had at a hotel.

A very disappointing stay. The bathroom was dirty on arrival . The room was uncomfortably small ...we literally could only just get round the bed; definitely not what I would classify as a double room. Altogether a 'grubby' feel to the room ...well settled dust on surfaces. There was an air conditioning unit or something similar right outside our window ...humming all through the night . I feel that, if you are going to sell that room, then at least inform the buyer of the disadvantages, then they can make an informed decision.

Hello My mother in law, kindly gave us a present of a nights stay in the Hagley Road, Birmingham Ibis Hotel. We were going to visit family and this was a kind gesture so we could stay longer and do some more things in Birmingham I do wish to raise a complaint with you but firstly wish to stay that we were very impressed with the hotel, the staff very polite and checking in and out very speedy. We were happy with our family room and loved that is was very modern with a nice thick bouncy carpet! We all enjoyed the breakfast in the morning and great that you could take a take away drink with you, that was a very nice touch. Furthermore, we would stay in this hotel again even though we are complaining we could come back. My mother in law when she made the booking for us specifically asked for a room with air conditioning in it. However, when we came back from our evening out and needed to have some air conditioning on as the room was very hot and very stuffy. We then realised there was no air conditioning. However, I found a fall tower fan in the wardrobe so used that but could only use for a small amount of time as it was so noisy that we could not sleep with that noise on, so that was very disappointing especially as it had been asked for at the booking. There seemed to be a wedding on when we arrived which we were fine with as we were going out for most of the day and evening, however, even at 6pm when we popped back to the room to get changed there was very loud music coming from the function room I presume and this could still be heard throughout the hotel. My daughter looked outside the bedroom window as she heard voices and we saw some young men or maybe security staff stood at the back of the hotel looked like they were smoking and messing about a bit but there were quite a few of them. My daughter felt very anxious about taking this but I reassured her saying they were security staff. I don’t know if this was the case or if they were hotel guests but it wasn’t a nice impression to look out of our hotel window to see that going on. We left the room shortly afterwards. We arrived back to our room around 10.30pm and the reception music was still going on had the music very loud throughout the hotel, it wasn’t that loud in our room but could still hear it a bit until other noise like the tv drowned the sound out. I appreciate that we seemed to have been placed a distance away from the party but why were we not made aware that there was a function going on and that it may be loud? Additionally, I was aware of many people returning to the their room between midnight and 2am as they were extremely loud and clearly had been drinking. This wasn’t nice to hear with lots of raised voices and banging of doors. This did not give us a good nights sleep sadly. The final issue was regarding the shower. I must say a superb bathroom which we were all impressed with. However, we did not use the shower until the Saturday morning. My husband used it first and came out with a warning for me was that it is VERY hot and cannot hardly be adjusted! I went in next and my goodness is was a scolding heat on me. I like to be warm and love hot showers and baths but this was beyond hot. It was impossible to stand under the shower. I tried to adjust the temperature control on the shower, it would move very slightly and adjusted the heat very slightly but whatever it was far too hot to have a proper shower. We would NOT allow our daughter who was with us to have a shower next as I’m sure that it would burn or scold her skin, she is 11 years old. She was upset as she wanted a shower to freshen up as we were off to Cadbury World. Upon our checkout shortly after the shower nightmare I made the lady on reception know about it and she asked if we wanted it look at now......I said no as we were checking out now but wanted them to know so it could be fixed ready for the next guest who may use it. She made a note of it. I decided not to mention the other above points to the reception lady at this stage as I wanted to make a proper complaint to you. As I mentioned before we all really liked the Ibis hotel and it would stay in another one again but just our lovely room let us down with the lack of air conditioning, the noise from the wedding party going on and guests or staff hanging around below our hotel window and their comings and goings in the early hours from the wedding guests and the burning shower heat. I look forward to hearing from you shorty.

Poor shower, cracked sink. Guests loud, smoking drugs at the window, neigbours fighting all night but no phone in the room to call reception. Breakfast was never refilled no pastries left no yogurts no cutlery cups etc. Mini doughnuts were still defrosting...
