« Disappointing overall though the staff were very nice »

We had higher expectations for a name brand hotel near the Excel centre especially considering we paid almost €1000 for 3 nights. The biggest issue was expectation management. From the photos on the website, I had an expectation of a certain standard of room and hotel. When we arrived our room was smaller than expected. Dark, the door was broken and wouldn't close properly. We were accommodated in another room which was a bit nicer but still nothing like what we had been told to expect. The biggest let down was the breakfast. It was absolutely appalling. By far one of the worse breakfasts I have ever had at a hotel. Even the coffee and tea were horrible. We ate elsewhere most mornings.

The room was fine, although the bathroom was a little on the small side. Not a great deal of room for moving around in! Disappointed that no cooked breakfast was available, but the continental style breakfast was adequate.

The receptionist who was checking us in on the night shift was extremely rude, argued with us in saying our room was not available and refused to take down the reference number that was given to me. Eventually he found my name and gave us the key card after 15 mins of waiting and being put to one side as he serves another guest. Another guest asked for his name as the receptionist was being rude to another guest, he’s name is Ian weither that be the truth or not.

« Look forward to the refurb »

The hotel was ideally situated and had parking which was a real bonus. But it does badly need the refurbishment which is in progress. I had an older room which was noisy (aircon although switched off made a noise for 10 minutes every 30 minutes) and shower was temperamental. Sound insulation between my room and next door seemed to be none-existent.

« I suppose you get what you pay for!! »

Queen Room with breakfast including parking for just over 24hrs cost us £109 so very affordable for London. However, the 'Queen Room' was not as expected (this was a small double bed) and the bathroom was tiny (smaller than a standard size ensuite), though the shower pressure was good. There was a funny damp smell in the room and the dingy electric heater smelt like something burning. The mattress was extremely firm, though this was not a problem for me. There was a large desk space with a plastic chair and also a hairdryer on the wall. Oh and they threw in a free 500ml bottle of still water between two guests. The breakfast was continental style only, consisting of pastries, toast, cereal, yogurt, apples, fruit salad, cheese and ham. There were hot drinks which could be taken away and a small selection of fruit juice (the apple juice tasted very watery??) The dining was not very comfortable (metal table and chairs). Overall I suppose you get what you pay for, however, if you plan to spend more than just the one night in your room I would consider paying a little more to stay in one of the other hotels. The best part was that the parking cost £15 for 24hrs, which is the best ive seen in London. Very close to the O2 which was our reason for staying in this area - The Emirates airline is within 10mins walk and is a lovely affordable way of travelling to the O2. The DLR is only a 5min walk. It is approx 30 mins travel via DLR and Tube to Southbank for the London Eye etc.

Served it's purpose well as a place to stay when attending a concert at the O2. Well equipped room, sufficient breakfast and it was joined to a pub. What's not to like.

« Comfortable stay at a really good irice »

Everything was fine with our stay except that the online checkin proved to be a waste of time. Despite entering card details no payment was taken so we had to do it all again. Also despite the message confirming our key was ready for us, we were sent away and told to come back in an hour. Otherwise, the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and well furnished, though the bathroom was reminiscent of a caravan’s facilities! Good breakfast on a pleasant room. We’ll definitely be back.

Never staying again. I use the Accor group for all my stays but this hotel was by far the worse experience. Broken aircon / Broken tv, both reported the evening before. On checking out made reception aware again and there was no record. Not even an apology but was advised £20 would be credited, more annoyed no apology. Will never stay again at that hotel.

Stayed here for one night for an early morning work schedule, but my room was facing the station side I think and it was really noisy, and difficult to sleep. Probably won't stay here again. Hotel a bit dated, needs a refurb.

I booked through the accord website, but the room was cheaper on lastminute.com. When I asked the person at reception about the 5% cheaper guarantee that was advertised in the hotel he shrugged his shoulders and told me the price was the price.

I stay around the Excel a lot and have stayed at the ibis styles a few times, something has gone badly down hill !!!Not a good room, I complained to staff about the smell in the room, i was assured it would be sorted or I would be offered another room, neither happened....No hot breakfast - £5 charge if i wanted one.wouldnt stay there again

« Not worth the price at all »

Although I'm satisfied with the cleanliness of the room, the check-in and environment of the lobby as well as the breakfast area. However, there was this awful smell in the toilet and the aircond is not working (with the service light blinking on the remote). I have told the receptionist twice and been told there'd sent someone to my room. Unfortunately, no one show up. Disappointment indeed. In addition, the door handle outside my room was abit loosen.
