« Rooms are depressing »

Service was lovely. However, the rooms are depressing. Will spend the extra $50 to stay somewhere that isn't a sealed box blowing either freezing (the 21 deg setting) or boiling (22 deg setting) AC over the weirdly small bed that moved around in between the oddly spaced bed side tables. I appreciate Mercure isn't a luxury chain, but it shouldn't feel cheap. I have stayed at The Johnson Art Series on my previous half dozen trips to Brisbane, and think I'll go back there next time.

(This has been my 2nd time at the hotel in about one month, and both times it took longer than satisfactory to get our meals.): we were informed that the meal would take 20 minutes to be ready due to 2 large groups having just sat down (didn't see large groups and the room was less than half full), we accepted that and decided to be seated anyway. We were encouraged to order an entree to have while we waited for the main, however, the entree did not arrive until we had asked about it at least 15 minutes after having ordered. Rooms are not buffer noise: My colleague and I had rooms next to each other and we were both disturbed later in the night (around 10pm-12am) by my neighbour who was entering and exiting frequently from his/her room. Both tired, our sleep was broken.

In busy periods it seems lifts cannot cope with volume of traffic with wait times of 5-10mins. Not sure how you can get odour of stale cigarette smoke out of rooms but its not a pleasant smell to sleep with

Initially we were disappointed that we were not allocated a room with a bath, as this is on our profile. However it was explained that the configuration of the rooms with baths has been altered since we were last there. Eventually we were given a room with a bath which was much appreciated. Once again, the staff were very helpful and friendly on reception, executive lounge and restaurant. I think that because of our room change we did miss out on our welcome gift.

« I experienced comfort and confidence in my safety. »

There was very little delay at check-in and the person was polite, professional and friendly. My room had everything I needed, looked lovely and appeared clean. (The temperature was too cold.) I asked for and received clear and friendly directions to my destination to the day (the hotel was within walking distance). Unfortunately my shower in the morning was cold. It took so long for the hot water to come through that I chose to have a cold shower rather than wait. I was able to store my bag at the hotel after checkout and had a friendly conversation with the concierge.

Overall good. Except that reception mistaked our 2 day reservation for a single night and called us to enquire why we haven't checked out. Detract from an otherwise good experience. Was nice to have a aneversary stay in Pullman eight years after our honeymoon stay in Pullman.

The Mercure is a comfortable hotel to stay in. Friendly staff and adequate room. Nothing outstanding about the room, a lovely view and great, convenient location. For the price of the room it is worth the stay.

Chose this hotel sure to its location in the CBD. Room was fresh and clean - nice surprise to find a coffee machine in the room. Went to 16 Stags their roof top bar for a drink - staff unfriendly, untrained and too busy talking to each other to offer any service. Only good thing about the venue is the location, it was nice to be able to sit out in the evening air in winter. Staff at checkin and checkout well trained and efficient.
