Rooms comfortable and nice contemporary decor and furnishings, bathroom cleanliness not maintained Restaurants service very disappointing, staff need training to know what is on the menu, unprofessional service. Food on floor and table from previous luntime sitting we were first in for dinner so no excuse for mess. Glasses on table had fingerprints and not clean Reception service excellent, very welcoming, efficient followed through by phone call to room to check if all ok.

All staff with whom we came into contact were bright, cheerful and competent. The room was good - spotless of course. Underfloor bathroom heating capped it all!

I love this hotel, unfortunately due to idiot unappreciative guests who smoke in the room it ruins it for others, my pizza was cold but they apologised and rectified it straight away. I love staying here

Room wasn't ready for our arrival. A member of bar staff was abrupt with my partner when he wanted to use his pin rather than contactless payment (he took his card from him and paid it without showing him the amount or producing a receipt). There were no staff on reception when we returned from a function when we wanted to ask for the items not yet in our room. Lots of standard things had ran out at breakfast (including tea, coffee) and were greasy. We wanted to complain when we left but the manager at that time was already dealing with someone complaining about breakfast. Complaining has been a massive hassle and a waste of time. Complaints take AGES to be responded to by Accor and this hotel. I was evetualy promised a refund by the previous manager on 1st Oct to be transferred by the end of that week. This never happened. I've spoken to the new manager this week and assured I'll receive it. It's not arrived yet. I'm a silver member so have stayed at a few accor hotels and never had this. I've had a lot of hassle trying to get a refund I was already promised.

« Good hotel, but lacks beneffits for Platinum members »

The hotel is standard Quality, what one would expect from a 4 star Mercure hotel. Breakfast is not so good, had to pay extra for a capuccino and the coffee it is too diluted for my taste. No Fresh orange Juice and fresh croissants. I have decided that in the next weeks I will not book the braskfast. I am a Platinum Accor memeber, except the welcome drink, also for the Silver memebers, I have not received any other beneffit: no upgrade, no welcome present, no free non-alcoholic drink in the Minibar (because there was no mini-bar). It was quite disappointing, I do not see why the struggle to reach Platinum when no beneffits received.

Room was adequate space wise, I had a double but I think the space was for a king as I couldn't reach the lamp from the bed. Shower screen had a metal bracket which was not fixed on and there was an empty shower gel bottle left on the shelf. Also slightly disappointed that there was no lift although reception did offer to help with my luggage.

On arriving I realised I had booked the hotel for the wrong day, travelling on my own with a 2 year old and three hours from home I was relieved to find someone so helpful, the room was rebooked for that night and the lady on reception even came out to help me with my bags as I had a sleepy child. The room itself was amazing, the sofa bed was put together for us between checking in and getting our bags, it was spacious and the bed was the size of a small planet. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was included and was OK, just a typical breakfast buffet. My only small gripe is that the vegetarian sausages were the typical fried vegetables in a sausage shape as opposed to a meat alternative style sausage (nobody wants fried peas, carrots and potatoes for breakfast) but that aside, overall the hotel was excellent and I will definitely recommend and stay there again!!!!!!

« F&B lets you down again »

I stayed for three nights. The first night, most items were unavailable on the bar menu. Tuesday evening - all fine. Wednesday, I ordered a bar meal around 20.00 and by 21.00 I gave up. This is broadly consistent to other visits. Staff don;t seem to care that the experience is so hit and miss. the F&B team let you down time and again but nothing seems to be done. As a company we have moved any company dinners elsewhere for exactly the same reason.

The first room allocated was a long walk from reception - even though we had told you that we would be leaving at 0500 thus possibly waking a lot of people. Also the room was practically subterranian which was a bit unsettling. On relating these problems to reception we were moved without fuss to a more suitable room.
