1. i was standing in front of FD waiting for checking out like 5 minutes. the staff was on a phone call "patiently" and the conversation seems to be lasted longer by her. the other staff is standing typing until another guest who just came to FD asked to store his luggage cause no concierge staff. excuse me????? your staff is “Full time”on the call and FD doing luggage storage???? do they do check out????? or if i don't speak out, they won't work????? 2. i asked plate and knife then hotel requested deposit. i was fine with that and asked F&B staff how would i take back my deposit. she told me to give the deposit receipt to front desk when checking out. i did it (when i loudly asked FD staff to do check out for me). then FD staff took the receipt and said she did not know what was it. i told her. then she said"oh you need to get from F&B restaurant". excuse me again????????? i waited for you like 10 minutes and told you my car was waiting me outside already. are you really a five star international brand hotel???????

« Lack of maintenance »

Room is dirty. Bathroom has no door. Some down lights are not working. Electric power was cut off at one time, probably due to short circuit. One of the wardrobe sliding doors is very tight. A spoilt safe is still left in the wardrobe. In short, conditions of the room is very disappointing.

« Hopeless for a Grand Mercure »

Front desk staff do not care, room cleaner comes in without knocking, hotel is generally in poor condition, bathroom has black mould stains every where, breakfast is bare basic and poorly cooked.... Need I say more? NEVER going back.

« Good location and reasonable hotel »

Travelled as family of 4 (2 adults and 2 young children) and stayed twice in this hotel in May 2019. We are happy with the hotel for its good location, service and rooms size. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful...(specail thank you to Vivian - night shift manager on 22nd May who had single handedly turnaround a bad experience). At the same time, I would like to log a formal complaint against Alex Zhang who toally ignored our request to have our 2 rooms to stay as close as possible so that we could look after our children.

« Average stay, could improve the lounge and breakfast »

Room was good, a/c switched on at last which helped with keeping the room cool without having to have the window open. Breakfast continues to be a little disappointing with regards to choice for Westerners. Executive lounge is okay and the staff are very good but the food choices in the evenings are quite limited (compared with Swissotel where I used to stay in Beijing)

Hotel stay was good. But the room fittings and furnitures were not properly working. It was shown to the concerned staff. In the restaurants, more options for Vegetarians should be offered. Language is an issue. Hotel should work on such staff that, they can speak atleast minimum english.

« Fantastic location to explore old parts of Beijing »

Very good location to explore Beijing on foot. Subway station of line 5 is close as well and so is Dongzhimen and the airport express. Staff at the hotel was generally friendly. Yet, only a few spoke decent English and only few in the reception area greeted and welcomed guests. Not the most welcoming environment. Hotel is overall of high standard and modern. WiFi connectivity was poor - is much better in any cafe or via 4G and a Chinese SIM card. Breakfast is Chinese and international.

« Consistently Excellent »

I travel to Beijing frequently and this is my second stay at this hotel. I previously stayed in the Swissotel but this is now closed for refurbishment and so I needed to find an alternative base. I'm very glad I chose the Grand Mercure Dongcheng. The hotel is modern and clean and the rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. The location is excellent for tourism and business, being close to the Lama temple and the Hutongs, with all the associated restaurants and bars, and to the metro to get to other parts of Beijing. Putting the fabric and location of the hotel to one side, what really makes this place are the people, who are all unfailingly helpful and friendly and make your stay a real pleasure. The whole team are a credit to the manager, Aifen, and I look forward to seeing them all again in the near future.

The hotel room was very comfortable. I was very happy with the room and the cleaning of the room. Reception staff were very helpful. The breakfast management was poor in my opinion. I usually arrived after 9 and the tables were always dirty from previous guests. I had to find my own clean cutlery etc. from other tables. Just a general slackness in not making sure that the coffee urn was full of water, every morning I or another guest had to ask staff. Also noone ever asked me for my room number.

« Excellent staff and location »

I chose this hotel because it was close to business meetings I was having over a couple of days. I would say most of the guests are vacation tourists. But I found the staff at the hotel to be exceptionally helpful. Every day they help me to order a car for meetings. I used their restaurants and front desk to change 100 Yuan into smaller bills before leaving every day. The Room was fairly large for Beijing especially at this price. It was a nice design com where the bathroom was exceptionally large. My only complaint was the air conditioning system was difficult to use. The Room was warm, I stayed in middle April. And I opened a window to cool it off. I will definitely stay here again when I have meetings in this part of the city.

10 mins walk to subway, nearby many restaurants, food stalls, fruit stores, convenient shop etc... Hotel room is clean and spacious but the breakfast is average. Hotel staffs are very helpful and friendly.

« A good hotel in the city center near a few popular tourist spots. »

We booked 2 standard rooms: 1 king, 1 twin. The bath room design of the TWIN room had a major privacy problem. First, having glass partition wall between bathroom & bedroom for TWIN room is wrong. Second, the pull-down curtains for the glass partition barely covers 90% of the glass with big gaps to see through, and worse, they are installed on the bedroom side. Remember, this is TWIN room! The interior designer should be fired. This must be changed for any other guests staying at the twin rooms. However, after complaining to the hotel, we were upgraded to the executive floor with much better rooms. In the end, we had a nice experience with our stay.

Stayed many times now at this hotel. Offers good value and fits with my needs in terms of location. Not sure why I was asked to sign a bill in the executive lounge which was then deducted from the final bill (only time this has ever happened to me in any Accor hotel!)
