Stayed many times on business and for playing golf at Darlington GC and always found everything satisfactory. The served breakfast is excellent. We will be staying again in the not too distant future.

« Centrally located, clean, modern hotel with attentive staff and good breakfast. »

Missed the car park turn in 1st time round, 2nd lap found way in. Only room for about 12 cars but lucky as 1 space left. The spaces should be for guests, not the 3 vans parked there by contractors who may or may not have been working at the hotel. Lots of hanging space in room. Shower unit needed non-slip mat, (available from reception), should be in the room. Water from shower runs out of cubicle, floor drip mat is useful to prevent this but I shouldn’t have to problem solve just to take a shower. Having said all that, stay was enjoyable, breakfast was superb, staff are excellent. Will be back.

The hotel itself was fine although the room was a bit stuffy. The main issue was checking in late on a dark and rainy night and not being able to park in the hotel car park. If I'd known parking was very limited I would've stayed somewhere else. The person who checked me in did not show any empathy and frankly made me feel most unwelcome...the attitude was almost 'if you arrive this late then don't expect somewhere to park'. Tired and in an unfamiliar town you do not expect to have to park in a public car park and walk in the rain for 10 minutes to get to your hotel. If (as was reported by the receptionist), lots of guests say this then the parking shortcomings should be made crystal clear prior to a booking being finalised.

« Very clean hotel. »

Very pleasant staff. Room changed because fan extractor outside was VERY NOISY. Dinner in hotel bar was not ideal. Disappointed with my dinner - battered fish which could have had more fish than batter. Breakfast in the restaurant was delightful - such a lovely room, begs the question, why could dinner not have been served in there? Our bedroom was spotless, as was the bathroom; absolutely no complaints there. Would recommend your hotel but certainly NOT the battered cod or room 323 (the noisy one).

« Very good accommodation and friendly service let down by a very bad bar meal »

I look forward to visiting the Kings Hotel for the friendly professional people, the terrific breakfast service and high standard of accommodation. I wasn't disappointed at all overall. However I needed a main course meal and chose to eat in the bar. The item I ordered, Cumberland sausage, was very different to the menu and very poor quality when served. I would have been embarrassed to serve it at home. When I mentioned this on checking out it was dealt with very well and to my total satisfaction.

Hotel was fine but as we were in Room 401 we had to take two lifts to get to the room - which was ok until the key cards to let us into the room failed to work on three occasions and we had to return to reception to have them re-programmed. Good location - good staff.

Firstly the room was all the way on the other side of the hotel. We had to take two lifts to get there. The receptionist lady did not offer for our bags to be taken there. The room itself was pretty small for the price paid but we understand this was the last one available. It was very hot during the night and no way to change the temperature. The condiments tray with the kettle was placed somewhere where there was no plus socket and so I had to move things around. We were also one towel short. For the price paid, I did not think it was worth it and had higher expectations.

« Lovely 1 night say!! »

Phoned hotel day before arrival to say we would be arriving early and asked about using car park before checkin which was ok, excellent! After a quick and easy checkin found our way to 4th floor which was a bit of a trek but fine! Got into room which was a little dark and could not believe the window started about 7ft high so you could not see out of it, luckily for us the housekeeper visited our room to change a light bulb and immediately got our room chnged to 424 along the corridor, excellent service only thing was this room did not have a fridge like the last one but o problem did not want to cause any more fuss!! Overall the room was excellent One niggle about the bathroom maybe a bath mat should be in the bath as my wife almost fell/slipped in the shower but managed to grab the rail, luckily as she's recovering from a broken hip and had a fright!! Hotel was very clean, staff very friendly breakfast excellent, location excellent, would prefer a lower floor room next time, definitely booking up again!! Brilliant hotel!!
