Check in & check out was good as were the staff. The hotel is in a terrible state of disrepair and continuing in this manner will do no end off damage to your brand. Extremely disappointed with the quality of this hotel.

« Pleasant stay, friendly staff, room was very noisy. »

All staff was always extremely warm and welcoming. Laundry service was great - on time and nicely folded. Breakfast is good - although coffee service is sometimes slow. Room xx01 was VERY noisy. It appears that all xx01 rooms are noisy because the bed headboard sits on the same wall as the elevator bank. Sounds like a construction zone at all times of the day and night.

Pool staff is amazing- these guys are hard working but also trained on the little details that make the difference! Amazing - concierge was great too with helping us to get tickets to the Christ "at the right time" as well as fantastic dinner at the G. Grille.

I introduced my wife to your hotel, where I had enjoyed stays several times before. The service of the front desk and the porters (particularly, Jose Carlos and Rogerio) was really great. We were disappointed in how the Friday evening party on the 23rd floor lounge was handled. The lounge was closed for 4 hours in preparation for the party. This was really unnecessary and very disappointing.

Hiccup at the start, problems with checking in due to not bringing the credit card we prepaid with, a fact we were not aware of when we arrived and were not notified about. Huge issue, but resolved in a couple of hours but it would have been nice to be aware of this. That being said we got an upgrade from the Manager who was incredibly helpful and understanding

« Mostly very good »

The hotel was clean and lovely. The staff were very helpful but when l arrived the phone in my room wasn’t working and the plug in my bathroom sink didn’t fit well enough to fill the bowl. After several attempts the plug was fixed but l never did get a working phone which meant several trips down to reception for room service etc.

« Substandard made more irritating by the Manager's cut & paste response on Tripadvisor »

Pros: 1. Good location 2. Good gym 3. Good rooms & room service Cons: 1. Charging extra for coffee in a $1000 room 2. Cold hot breakfasts 3. Warm cold buffet with flies on 4. Room smelled of mildew 5. Charging 150% room rate for staying 1 day (24 hours) of which only 4 hours over checkout time. (It’s not the money, it’s the principle, and it’s a joke) 6. A lot of single use plastic. Small plastic bottles for toiletries. Room items unnecessarily wrapped in plastic. Tiny plastic water bottles. For a hotel on the beach that claims to have environmental awareness I would expect more. Considering the carbon footprint associated with importing “Evian” from France, also in small plastic bottles,and charging $14 per bottle it is ridiculous. What is wrong with Brazilian water? I expect more from an international hotel chain charging double the other hotel rates.

I was treated with a rare kindness by the Director and Mr. Leonel Leandro da Silva. The Suite Opera was just amazing. In addition to that , I was touched by the number of gestures of the Direction, such as a cake for my son, a bottle of champagne, fruit and others. In other words, a unique stay with a dedicated staff.

From the beginning of my request for room, my request for the Reservations was fulfilled perfectly, by Luiza Athayde. The confirmation email stated " It will be a pleasure to receive you one more time at Sofitel Ipanema" which is a nice touch showing that my loyalty was important. I received an additional email from Thaís Sanches, and asked if I would need any assistance, which this trip I did, so Thais was able to fulfill my request, that was a nice touch too. Upon my arrival, I went up to the counter and the gentleman at the front desk greeted me just right, worked on getting me my beautiful room. Great way to start off my stay, (I did not catch has name, sorry). The room was very nice and a great view! My only disappointment, was after a long day flying and returning from work, I was ready for a nice hot shower, but the hot water in the shower did not heat up and even stopped running, I called the front desk and about 15 minutes later, two workers were looking into the problem. I'm not sure when they had it repaired as I had a dinner meeting to go to, but they did get it working for the next morning. I was greeted by Netto Moreira and as always he was making sure my stay is comfortable. During my short stay, all the employees were friendly and helpful. Which I can see is a great training staff! Before my checkout, I called the front desk and they sent Mixsodaime to assist me with my luggage, he is always smiling, friendly, and always remembers me. He Is a person that makes you feel good about being there. The checkout was friendly, smooth and easy, just the way it should be. Overall your team is doing a great job treating your customers and Mr. Moreira should be very proud.

Room was fine / comfortable. Service was disappointing, no real attention is given to customers. Small details count such as complimentary bottles of water that do not get replenished each day of the stay.
