« Nice hotel, but, wheelchair accessible? »

Really enjoyed my stay and the staff, restaurant and room were very good. Except for the hanging rail in the room for clothes. This was the highest rail ever and totally unsuitable for someone in a wheelchair to use. In a wheeelchair accessible room, this rail should be much, much lower.

« Another stay at this hotel »

Unfortunately this time our stay was not as good as previous due to noise during the night. We initially thought this was coming from a store room, but as there wasn't one next to our room we do not know where it was coming from. We did not enjoy our stay at all as we did not get a good nights sleep. Dinner was very good and restaurant staff excellent. However, bar staff need some training as most beers served were too full resulting in spilt beer on the floor (we are in the hospitality business). Sparkling wine is supposed to be sparkling, not flat!

Room was reasonably clean (lacked some attention to detail and was mostly ‘surface clean’). Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Restaurant staff were very friendly but service was slow (after 20 minutes I had to ask someone to come and take my dinner order). Food was average but after taking my order the staff were very thoughtful and accommodating. Hotel is noisy and could do with some more thought given to noise minimisation/absorption. I could hear my neighbour’s conversations easily.

Liked room, space for 2 x suitcases, proper shower. Asked to be connected to free WiFi while booking with accord card. Not done. Requested again with accor card after arrival. Not done. Restaurant was "pub food" at good restaurant prices. Poor value. Staff not very attentive

« Very handy for an early flight »

This hotel seemed to be the only option for an early flight out. It was warm and clean. The reception staff were very helpful as was the shuttle bus driver. The restaurant was a big disappointment- more like a pub with someone in the kitchen calling out the orders to the staff in there, poor service - having to wait 10 mins for a drink when it was not even busy. The food was beautifully presented but the staff made the experience unpleasant as none of them seemed to be happy in their roles at all.

Room was clean and very comfortable. Ordered room service which arrived promptly . Food was hot and really tasty. I was surprised by the $15 parking fee per night. We have stayed before and not payed a parking fee. I think that if you are staying on the premises you should get at least one night parking free.

I have stayed many times at Mercure Newcastle Airport and not been charged for parking. This time I was and when I asked the front desk they had a very dismissive attitude which was very disappointing needless to say I won't be returning.
