« Novotel Yangon Max is a world class hotel in a fascinating city »

I stayed at the Novotel Yangon Max for business in May 2019. The executive rooms are generous and well-equipped. Occasional power cuts were no major inconvenience because the hotel's alternative power generation capacity kicked in quickly. Breakfast and in-room dining delivered good food. The conference facility was also very good with excellent views over the city and reliable wifi and sound technology.

My stay at the Novotel was wonderful - the hotel is clean and the rooms comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I appreciate that they always helped me explain directions to the Grab drivers. I frequently used the gym and pool, which were clean and the other guests/members were also very courteous. The hotel is also conveniently located near a shopping center. Would recommend to friends and family!

« Overpriced & guest services need to notch up! »

I stayed 5 days... that I consider long...... I was given room # 1039 When I stay such long in other others like Marriott, Shangri-La etc., at least I get view from my bed room.... Go to the room # 1039 and look from window what you can see. Neither road or city but a corner view of hotel..... So felt like bunker or prison..... Sandwich and coffee I paid $15 USD…..! I never seen such high prices even in other hotels in the region…. Bar, food, laundry are all over priced….. Checkout experience is good also….. 1) Checkout Bill: checkout staff wanted to have two transactions as pre-authorisation amount is less than the actual amount. I told them to do one transaction as its business expense. I explained that for one stay, I need one bill for my company and not two transactions. Instead of amending the pre-authorization amount they want to do two transactions. Finally after several discussions, they said they charged one amount for total bill but for pre-authorization they said it will take up to 2 weeks to release the payment. I travel a lot and stay in hotels around 125+ nights every year. I never had such problems at checkout. Usually other hotels always amend the pre-authorization amount and charges without any issues. Not sure what the issue is! 2) Car: I asked for Hotel Limousine to take me to airport and as I was 1 person with 1 suitcase, I asked for $40 USD car, instead hotel reception wants to give $60 USD high end car as $40 USD car was not available. If not available, its not my fault. If it was other hotels, for not timely availability of cars, they would have offered $60 USD car for $40 USD. Anyhow, I used local taxi and costed me less than $7 USD. a. Limousine costs are too high . Despite that not being available is also not acceptable. Felt very unwelcoming and NOT going to come back # NOVOTEL Yangon Max. My company recommended this hotel but I am going to give the same feed back to them.

I have investigated with concerned departments in regards to all issues and allow me to explain it. 1 ) We would like to inform you that room 1039 is our superior room and all our superior rooms in hotel are limited view compared to other room categories. 2 ) In regards to check out experience, we suggested to have two transactions as we do not wish to hold the pre-authorization amount on your card. However, release time depends on the credit card issue bank as well. I do apologized that my Receptionist did not mention you about that upon arrival and departure. Please rest assured that i have already spoken to Front Office Manager to look into the issue seriously. 3 ) We do apologized that we could only offer Mercedes due to all our Toyota Vios were unavailable due to last minute car request. However, we are pleased to inform you that we are revising the hotel limousine prices in coming months. On behalf of the management and staff here at Novotel Yangon Max, we appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. I have stayed in many many hotels, and I dare say that the service at this hotel was one of the best. Everyone was so cordial, and helpful. I required an ice pack every morning for health related injections, and because I did not have a freezer in the room, the staff (without fail) would come and collect my ice pack at night, freeze it, and return it to me at around 7am everyday. Best part is they were never grumpy about it, they were always so warm. The staff at the restaurant were also always smiling and helpful, every day. I even recall the hotel giving the muslim guests a chance to dine at night at the restaurant, because they were fasting in the day. 5 STAR SERVICE.

Firstly, I was given a disabled access room which was confusing. Later I was moved to a standard guest room. The TV wasn't working on most days and needed tech support. For a five day stay, I was expecting a fruit basket or other services. The personnel were very friendly and courteous.

Overall, the hotel could have done better. This recent stay was the second one in a period of two years. The service staff were helpful and friendly. Food wise, selection during lunch was pretty limited and disappointing. Rooms generally have a musty smell.
