« Our usual good experience with one exception. »

We have stayed with Sofitel several times. What we love is the standard of service, the actual service, the people that you have working at the Sofitel Hotels we have stayed at plus the French Theme. We are Champagne drinkers which fits well with the Sofitel brand. The only down side this time was the Cloudy Bay Pelorus we got as our bottle of champagne on arrival. Not French. Not Champagne. This is a Kiwi Methode Traditionale which I can’t drink as for some reason it gives me almost an instant headache. It must have something added that doesn’t agree with me. We have always recieved a good nFrench Champagne like Veuve Clicquot. The last time we got a Bouby-Legouge. Both really nice and a pleasure to sip. That would be the only down side of the stay this time.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Sofitel in Wellington, Our room was comfortable, and our experience in the restaurant was excellent, both at breakfast and dinner. Waitstaff service was friendly and helpful without being imposing, and Oscar in particular, provided excellent service.

Everything as it should be, staff and service including restaurant all first class, very pleasing to see the same faces among your staff. Only one minor comment relates to the bar where perhaps the service could have been a tad more than it was, i.e. had to order at the bar, no nibles, not a very extensive range of beers (only one dark ale)

Front desk experience was good, room wasnt ready which was fine i checked in early, returned to hotel and bag was taken to the room. Quick efficient service great first impression. The bar, ummm only one bar man, drinks took a while to arrive . Table had glasses on it, and plates from previous occupants. Bar man appeared under pressure. There was only 3 tabels occupied Restaurant was fully booked couldnt get a table. Maid service, first service on the Saturday morning was average, cushions left in the floor bed was made but not to a good standard. Turn down service was very early 1730, the maids appear to go in and out of the rooms, doors slamming which actually made the wall shake in my room. Extremly noisy. I did use this option on the Sunday night and thought they did a great job. Room looked amazing. Great touch. Maybe this should be offered from 1900 hours. Its very early 1730. Overall the staff were all friendly and welcoming. Just a few things you could improve on mentioned above to get the finer details right and to enhance the experience. Overall I would return, actually concierge guys are worth mention. Always offered assistance and were very freiendly and helpful.

I was a little disappointed to be told on arrival that we could not be accommodated in the restaurant due to bookings. I expect when booking in to a hotel that house quests will be catered for. I did go on the wait list and managed to get a meal, but not at the time I would have liked. The room was well appointed and could not be faulted. I found breakfast to be extremely slow with our order being taken, then at least a half hour wait for the simple breakfast. I did see another table walk out before their food arrived.
