« Perfect stay for Kota Kinabalu »

Very friendly team. Everyone take care of you. Good breakfast. Nice roof-top-bar and pool. Next to waterfront and jesselton point (port). We booked a appartment with 2 sleeping-rooms. The price / quality ratio is excellent.

« Overall we enjoyed our stay after an issue with a blocked drain. »

The drain in the shower of our room was blocked and we couldn't shower without flooding the room. I asked reception if we could move rooms and they were accommodating and placed us in a nice room. It seemed reception were aware of the blocked drain issue, so it would have been better if they fix the drain before placing guests in the room.

« Room was very warm and staff are unhelpful »

Room was very warm. Despite request for assistance twice, the technician came doesn’t provide much help apart from cleaning the filter for the first time and adjust the air cond fan the second time. Upon insisting for a better solution, only the reception arrange to change my room on my last night. The staff wasn’t particularly friendly nor welcoming throughout my whole stay. Room furniture was found damaged. Quite surprise to see this condition from Accor. Shower also came with no shower curtain, causing water splashing everywhere.

I booked this hotel as a surprise birthday gift to my girlfriend. Upgraded due to my platinum status. They arranged a cake which was nice however there was no hot water. 2 people needed to be sent to fix the issue however by the time it had been resolved we had to take a cold shower as we had a dinner appointment. Lunchtime we ate in the bar. Not a great experience however after discussion with assistant manager I was compensated for the poor experience.The room was a suite with kitchen however there was no cutlery in the room. Not even a fork for the cake. Despite being a king room the bed was small. Maybe the smallest I have stayed in for a king. However I must say that the assistant manager “noora” I think her name was, was excellent. She did everything she could for me and without her I would have demanded my money back. In total we spent 125 euro for one night on what was a poor experience for a day that was supposed to be a special day for my girlfriend. I will not choose AccorHotels again for these experiences. However I want to make it clear the assistant manager was excellent. You are lucky to have her.

Daily cleaning was sub standard. Swimming pool not maintained well at all and a fungal ear infection was contracted. The hotel celebrated 2nd birthday which sought to exclude and inconvienience guests. We also mentioned that we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and staff could not even offer any congratulations - this does not cost anything.

« Terribly inattentive service. A simple laundry was delivered 1 day late, after 3 reminders. »

Bad service from check in onward. Laundry was delivered one day late after Three reminders. And this is so called branded hotel. I can get better service at a smaller hotel. Waste of money. Will not stay here when I am back in KK next week.

« Cant get anything right! »

This is one of my worst experience in a branded hotel. The check in time took more than 15 minutes from the time I stand in front of the receptionist (excluding queuing) to the time I got the key. I was asked, "are you in a hurry?" After saying yet, he just passed me a room key and not informing me on my choice, which is king bed. I need to go to the room, call the receptionist to get another room key. From the time I walked into the hotel to the time I got to my room is more than 1.5 hour. I sent my laundry @ 530am, before proceeding to the airport for a local sabah flight. It was stated I will get my laundry before 6pm the same day. When I arrived back to the hotel at 9pm, the laundry was not returned. Called the housekeeping and he said he will check and come back to me. YOUR GUESS IT. He NEVER return call. I need to call at 10pm to ask again. the guy told me my laundry is with the front desk and will be sent to me. NO laundry was delivered the same night. The next morning, I need to call again before the laundry was returned. If I did not, my laundry will probably stayed at the reception area. Why laundry need to be send to the front desk is beyond me.

We were transferred from Pan Borneo. Mercure accommodated our transfer and gave us rooms [although on the 4th floor facing the street] that were excellent for our needs. No complaints, nothing that I can ask you to improve.

I've used hotel twice in the past and I was happy. But this time I am disappointed. The room was really filthy on for 3day. I was lying on a dirty bed sheet,carpet is messy there was cookie crumbs. But, I never complained Because I believed you'll clean up. But The room was always messy I'm and I’m notexaggerating! I really liked Kotakinabalru Mercure hotel, So It was more disappointing .. The room, facilities, air cond and mattress were ok. But during my stay there was no hot water. I showered twice (once at night and once early in the morning) both of which in cold water. The hot water switch was turned on the whole day but the water is still cold.

For a 2 year old international chain hotel, the services has many rooms for improvement and some regular rite care to be done for the room conditions. 1. Housekeeping came by 9am in the morning and I request to delay for 1 hour later. When I went out for breakfast and left the hotel, I leave the door with Keep Clean Up Room Sign as well as switching for Room Clean on. Unfortunately, it was untouched, nothing been done as it was when i get back to the room at 5:45pm. Then I requested for new towel for shower but was told running out of towel and asked me to pick up after 7pm. (Well, if you need a new towel for shower then to continue the next agenda but was told towel only available after 7pm, so you have only 2 options, either shower with old towel or just continue the next agenda and postpone the shower later.) 2. Shower room water discharge outlet need to be cleared regularly as water discharge slow, the water level raised above the curb level and to the floor outside and making the floor towel wet. (That's why i get the new towel dirty because it dropped on the wet floor outside the shower room. 3. Room wall is stained with some dirty marks, hanging lamp cover full with dust, 4. Short room power breakdown for about 3 minutes 5. For a 4 Star rated hotel, i expect water bottle with at least own hotel logo instead of normal brand. 6. The coffee machine in Maupassant for breakfast is not being well maintained as some sellotape on it and the milk carton without cover with the suction hose inside in seen to be unhygienic.

All the staff were accommodating. When I arrived at 1200h, the front desk staff Zul Hafiz facilitated my quick and easy check in (as well as check out) right away. I thought I would have to wait for a long time as the policy states the check in was at 1500h. But to my surprise, no questions asked, Zul checked me in right away. Room was comfortable. Pool area is nice. Food (ordered from the resto in the pool area) needs improvement though.

We stayed in 2 bed suite for 4 nights and no doubt one of the best hotels I stayed in the category with excellent hospitality, good breakfast and supportive staff. One major plus is the location which is situated at a very convenient place in KK and provides easy access to all places. If you are visiting KK and looking for a reasonably priced high standard hotel; then look no where except Mercure KK.
