A Rollercoaster of a Stay a Flirty Staff

I came by myself for a conference down the street. I waited about 35 minutes in line to check in. I was then "upgraded".... but when I entered my room, it was already occupied. Whoops! Then it took another 20 minutes or so of waiting around to get a new room. While in the lobby waiting for the room I got a pop up survey for joining the wifi, and I submitted my displeasure at what was happening. The one I got was 2 single beds and I asked to put them together. They didn't but they did when I went out for a walk. Well from there it went up hill! I received an email from the manager apologizing, as well as welcome basket and note in my room with an apology and an invite to the lounge and free mini bar. The staff at the lounge was great at serving with smiles, printing, chatting. Sofia, Culbert, Agla, Thava.... There was one very flirty staff member in the lounge. I could tell he lays it on thick to someone all the time and is looking to offer extra services. Watch out! It was fun to bring in my partner in and tell him to back off, in a playful way. Since I didn't want the single bed, they moved me AGAIN to a different room which was a suite that had two bathrooms and a large bed. The room was good, the halls are dingy and outdated, lounge good, breakfast MEH, and front staff SLOW and mediocre. It was a decent choice for 4 night especially during Taylor Swift weekend.

Fanciest Novotel we've been to!

We often have a few days in Singapore to break up the journey between the UK and Australia, so have stayed in quite a few hotels there. (We also lived there for some years so have been in most of them.) The Novotel was recommended by a friend and I have to admit I was sceptical, but I’m thankful I decided to trust their judgement. Around half the price we usually pay but with all of the facilities - my wife did comment it’s the fanciest Novotel she’s ever seen! Breakfast by the pool and a nightcap in the lovely gardens were especially pleasant. We were familiar with the location but not aware that there’s now an MRT station on Stevens - very handy. Also a manageable walk to Orchard Road even in the heatwave we experienced. Staff were very helpful and I especially remember the breakfast greeter’s huge smile. Breakfast was much like any other international buffet we’ve had in Singapore - loads of choice for all tastes. Unfortunately my wife arrived from Australia quite unwell and the bellboy gave great advice on nearby walk-in clinics, so a big thank you to him too. Our room was also great for the price point - not huge compared to older hotels but well-equipped. All the environmental considerations were much appreciated, especially the filtered water instead of plastic bottles (no excuse for those at all when Singapore’s water is of such a high standard). One gripe my wife would like me to mention, that she has about most hotels at all room rates - hair dryers with coiled cables that only stretch a couple of feet, and wall sockets in awkward places that result in her sitting on the floor in front of a mirror, are really frustrating!

Excellent place to stay. Jerome on the front desk is an asset to the Accor group. The convenience of the shuttle bus and the excellent restaurants on site make it easy. An is at the Whitestone restaurant looked after us so well on all theee occasions we ate there. Highly recommended

Good location, well appointed rooms

Good location with well appointed rooms. Had to book this in a rush as I had to leave the hotel which was initially booked for us a few months back. Our Novotel experience was the best way for me to compensate for our horrible experience at another hotel. Most of the staff were friendly and professional. Special shoutout to Sean at the reception who was extremely pleasant and made sure we are happy with our stay. Novotel is really lucky to have him. Deepika was likewise helpful in accommodating our early checkin request. We truly appreciate it given our bad experience prior to our transfer to Novotel. We had a good rest and were happy with the buffet the next day. Experience would have been 100% pleasant if not for the rude shuttle driver who refused to let us board the shuttle about 20mins before the departure time. He told us to go back 5mins before the 1:00PM departure time so we went back to the hotel lobby and waited only to find out that he let others board the bus earlier and we ended up missing it because it was already full at around 12:53PM. I dont understand what his problem is, but it sure is disappointing to be treated that way especially that I had 2 children in tow and an elderly with me.

Upon check-in, i was informed that my room was not ready. ( i arrived at past 2PM). I was quite surprised to learn about this since i booked directly with the hotel and was not adviced about this policy. The front desk personnel was quite helpful and understanding. She offered me an upgraded room that was ready. The hotel staff from housekeeping and the doorman was very polite and helpful. It was truly a great stay at Novotel Stevens.
