« Location was not what I was expecting after speaking to Novatel 3 times - it was too far from Airport »

We had to pay for a taxi both to the Airport and on return as being 75 and 74 it was too far for us to walk to the lift for the train - and at no time were we ever told we would have to do this. It therefore cost us £18 extra. I booked on the web after having spoken to Novatel and Isis

Stayed one night after a late flight before driving home. Room disappointingly small for a ‘queen’ room compared to premier inns which are of a similar price. Good blackout curtains and very quiet. Bathroom had a funny ‘drain’ smell that I would have had to mention to management if we’d been staying for more than I’ve night. Good proximity to the airport. £7 for a taxi at 1:15am which we thought very reasonable. Sadly no fried eggs at breakfast but good selection otherwise. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bed comfortable. All in all would stay again if flying from Birmingham.

I feel that the food was well below what I expected I have stayed in 3 star hotel before (the village hotel in Coventry) and unfortunately your hotel was well below par. I feel the arrangement for coffee in the morning was awful (machine in wrong place after getting breakfast) . The standard of buffet meals was bad. On one occasion I had chicken which was cooked from frozen which made the chicken tough Infact I did not eat it. Thought you would welcome positive feedback so you can make radical improvement. Unfortunately the overall standard was not what I expected apart from your receiptionist who I thought was extraordinary. For a man he was able to do more one job at a time brilliant.

Great for brief overnight stay, staff in restaurant dealt well with a service issue - ordered a meal, waited for 45 minutes before chasing it up - then told what I'd ordered wasn't available in any case. The manager was sincerely apologetic, explained truthfully what had happened, gave me a free meal. He turned a really cross customer into one who will definitely go back again and recommend the Ibis, purely through the exemplary way he dealt with problem. My companion was very pleased indeed with his meal (which turned up quickly) - chicken.

Room was scruffy, soap dispenser had fallen off the wall. There was only 1 hand towel and only 1 spare pillow, the room was booked for 2 people. Ordered a meal at 2pm, just after we arrived, not good, chips were not cooked through and the side salad consisted of lots of lettuce, peppers and onions, only. I complained to the waitress and the cost of the salad was deleted from the bill. Went in for breakfast next morning, no clean tables, so cleared dirty plates ourselves. I know that breakfast is self service but was not aware that we had to clear tables and relay them ourselves. No teaspoons any where, was told they were all being used for the meeting rooms, so had to stir coffee with a knife. Food was good quality, but tepid. Complained to manager who took note off what I said, he refunded £ 46, £10 of which was car park fee that I refused to pay. Why do you have to pay carpark fee when you are staying in the hotel? We have stayed at thi hotel twice before and has been perfectly acceptable before, what has changed. All in all not a good experience this time, would hesitate to return or recommend.

Room was fine also reception staff were very helpful. Restaurant evening food was just ok. Breakfast on first morning was late no hot food when i left at 7:20am disappointing......

« Someone let themselves into room »

Until 8am on Thursday morning the stay was great, however at that point we were given a huge fright by someone letting themselves into our room. I was only spared being exposed to the person (& the corridor) by the fact that the bathroom door annoyingly opens itself and hits back against the main door unless you close it very firmly. By the time we threw some clothes on and opened the door again the person was gone so we have no idea if it was hotel staff or another guest who'd been givent he wrong room or what as they said nothing, just closed the door again. It completely spoiled our relaxing morning together. My boyfriend mentioned it when paying for parking as he was leaving before me. Despite this when I checked out there was still no explanation as to what had happened and no real apology except an "oh dear" and grudged "sorry about that". This hotel was ideally situated for us as we live at opposite ends of the country and time together is precious, but we'll certainly not be back. Mistakes happen, but an apology takes very little time.

Room was clean, staff helpful and polite. Location is good for NEC. Room was a bit noisy due to faulty window handle, but staff were good and offered to move us. Breakfast good, but bar/restaurant food just average.

It is a nice hotel with very friendly staff. Our room was a little dusty and unhoovered on arrival but I think this was a blip as for the other days it was cleaned well. We had fresh towels everyday which was great. Breakfast was good with a nice selection.

« Nice room, could do with updating. Breakfast okay. »

The room and hotel are fine. Some things such as the shower could be updated as looked abit rusty. The cooked breakfast was a little disappointing in that the scrambled egg tasted like powder and you didn’t have the option of fried. The bed was comfortable and it was lovely to have a hotel where you could actually open the window! I would stay there again as it was very convenient for The NEC and they looked after us well.

One downside was the hard beds. Buffet food good, a la carte not great. Staff very helpful. Beautiful bathroom. For the convention we were attending I think the breakfast should be available from 7:30/7:45. Rooms are well sound proofed
