My wife and I have stayed several times at this hotel. Our experience each time has been consistent: friendly welcome, especially if Jessica is on the desk (or Mauricio, who sadly has left); sometimes reception personnel are distracted by other demands and check-in takes longer than necessary; breakfast is satisfactory quality basic fare and choices, coffee good; room also basic, satisfactory with one recurring problem - sink and shower drains are usually plugged and a maintenance person has to be called to clean them out, but it's only a temporary fix before the shower floods the whole bathroom floor again. I spoke with the current manager about the problem and she explained that the bathroom drains were installed upside down during hotel construction and would require extensive and expensive repairs to function properly, Instead, a preventive maintenance program has been implemented to minimise the problem. If a guest complains, their drains are immediately serviced. I was thanked for providing an opportunity for her to explain the problem. Previous managers have not offered this explanation. On reflection, my response is why not have a sign in each bathroom inviting guests to call for maintenance service if their drains are not functioning satisfactorily.

Didn't particularly enjoy my stay - room 118, it's right by the East Lancs, the room was far too warm and you couldn't open the window for the noise (and it looked like the handle would snap!) plus the shower area in bathroom just felt a little grotty. Didn't particularly get a good welcome at the rather sad and tasteless breakfast - a grunt and not much else. I found the bed and pillows very uncomfortable and as such didn't really get much sleep. I'm mobility disabled and the lift was out - full credit, I received a very positive and welcome call before I travelled to let me know of this and to ensure I could get myself up to the first floor. Ambience of hotel in the communal areas was bizarre - felt like a youth hostel for Business folk. It's got a great location, and it's 50/50 on whether you get a polite/friendly/happy member of staff, but the complete lack of sleep makes it very unlikely that I'll return, even as an Accor Member

I booked the hotel and there was no option that I could opt out the breakfast. We went for breakfast 2 days, and there was no fresh produce such as, mushwomm, tomato or fruit. A bit dissapointed.

I use the hotel nearly every week, the main reason is its location and secondly the low cost. I always say that the hotel rooms are comfortable and that's the main reason for staying there. The food could be better so i choose not to eat there. the staff are friendly and welcoming.

The dining room staff were very good. I had prebooked our room on line but when we got to the hotel they said they had no record of it so we had to reregister which was somewhat inconvenient at the time. The bed was immaculately made for our second night but although cups had been washed in the room the teaspoon had not. Neither had the tray been wiped over. The floor didn't appear to have been given the once over either as there were bits on it. Air conditioning would have been very much appreciated or at least fans supplied in the rooms in view of the temperature.

This was our first time staying with IBIS, we normally use a cheaper competitor on our regular trips to visit family in St Helens but they were fully booked. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bed was comfortable. I wasn't keen on rooms with no carpet - fine in Summer but I wonder how it would be in the winter. Our bathroom was a little jaded and the shower plug unsavoury. Breakfast was ok - a little basic eg apples chopped in quarters as the breakfast fruit - but perfectly adequate.

Arrived at the hotel for as 2 day stay and asked for my credit card for pre-authorisation of £162.60 not a charge and they processed it as a charge. On check out I was charged for my stay £102.60. Reviewed my MasterCard statement and they had charged for both contacted the hotel and informed it would take 7 days to refund. Nice business taking monies not due and refunding a week later - how to maximise cash flow at the guest's expense! Desk lamp did not work and Reception confirmed said they had been disconnected as being replaced. Wall sockets behind the desk which was free standing were covered in dust and food scraps - not hygienic. Good shower room and comfortable bed. Breakfast choices were good quality.

The staff went out of their way to help us. The hotel room was lovely and had everything we needed. The continental breakfast was lovely with an array of food, there was even hot breakfast if that was what anyone needed. Once again the lady overseeing the breakfast was lovely and quickly cleared tables. She was very approachable as were all the staff.
