« Pullman versus Grand hotel Kinshasa »

I spent 3 nights at the Pullman and 3 nights at Grand hotel. The hotels are next to each other. They have common restaurant and swimming pool. The breakfast is great. Otherwise the food at the restaurant is ok, nothing amazing. The room at Pullman was nice, well equipped. The room at Grand hotel was really disappointing. Except 3 poor little lamps there is no light in the room. The pillows are horrible. The entire room and bathroom need to be refreshed. I had to ask the staff to provide me with shampoo and conditioner from Pullman as the all-in-one product that is furnished at Grand Hotel is really bad quality. Even if Grand hotel rooms are cheaper, it still too expensive for what it is. The staff is friendly, nice and helpful. 2 Accor hotels next to each other but really different in terms of quality/price ratio.

« It was nice. Outside of the fact that it was an issue with my reservation that took over two hours to be solved. That part had affected my experience. »

Good as usually outside of the fact that it was an issue with my reservation that took too long to be resolved . Over two hours . In fact , it ended up being resolved because I got really upset. I was visibly booked on the Pullman side but my reservation was on the Grand hotel side. I wanna complement Mr. Medard for his leadership.

Cons: Restaurant served bad, yet expensive, food. My room was above the bar and a little too noisy. My door didn't lock from inside (no chain, no lock). Also was told once I got to hotel I could not redeem Accord points because booking not made on your website, which is annoying. Pros: Friendly and professional staff. Clean rooms. Good breakfast.

To start with they did not respect the (already high) price I booked at. One day the room was not cleaned. Restaurants are of poor quality, I once even had to give back my order because it was still frozen.

The hotel overall atmosphere is excellent but the staff at the reception needs more training in terms of welcoming guests, greeting and care. They have to learn how to smile even if they have their own issues at home or whatever. Coming from hospitality background I had to train staff every 6 months to get them up to speed with the latest development. The politeness rules are cruelly lacking and I was shocked. There is a certain hotel language that needs to be implemented especially when your hotel is one of the most liked venues. Exemple: I have noiticed that when phoning the switchboard your staff do not know what to do Here is just a demo on how it should work: 1. When the switchboard rings, the operator picks up the phone 2. He/she introduces him/herself: Bonjour! Merci d'avoir appelé Pullman, Medard à l'appareil, comment puis-je vous aider? (Good day, Good morning/Afternoon or evening! Thank you for calling Pullman, Medard speaking, how can I direct your call? As a guest I will feel comfortable in engaging with the operator and free to ask more questions about your institution. Unfortunately your staff lack such skills. Also they should be bilingual (English and French). I am privileged to speak both languages but you won't be so lucky every time to have clients like the writer. Even those who speak french their vocabulary is not rich. It would be preferable to train them so that they are acquainted and equipped with necessary tools to deal with your high profile clientele. The cost of the room is very expensive and only one breakfast per room. This is unacceptable! I stayed in Room 412 where I have never had a functional TV set despite my countless complains until I complained NO MORE. Even after the maintenance changed it, it was still not working. Then I was moved to another room before I returned after missing my flight to be in Room 701, where I did find some comfort finally. The room rack rate entails having a replenished fridge ( not only water) and breakfast for two. Firstly I stayed at the Grand Hotel where rooms shouldn't be sold to the public and I was flabbergasted with the state rooms are in that wing

the breakfast is very good and rich. the room carpet should be more clean. the sleepers in the room are very small size so its impossible for a normal person to put on.

Satisfied in general. But need to substantially improve some of your services: 1. The phone in the room neither works during my overall stay; 2. I had diner the day of my arrival with 2 other colleagues. We did not get enough attention from waiters. I order a salad of fruits and have neither been served after having reminded the waiters 2 times, I left the restaurant; 3. Too much flies on the food during the breakfast.

I expected more a much better experience from Pullman Kinshasa, having experienced other Accor hotels in Africa. The room was great but I had to engage the Hotel reception more than once to get simple things done like getting sports channels. On arrival the telephones were not working and it took two days to fix them. I loved the gym which had a great ambiance and good instructors. The restaurants were also very good.

Not thrilled by this stay. Used to enjoy a better service at this property. Phone calls not answered, I had to go down to the reception to request a service two times in three days. , Internet access was quite unstable and the room not really fit for business traveller.
