Ibis Style is a modern hotel located in the heart of Carretas neighborhood. Walking distance for Punta Carretas shopping and from Francis, well known restaurant. Rooms are super modern, with nice cinema decorations. Bed is perfect and bathroom also very conveniente. Breakfast served is good, offers fruit, yogurt, pastries, bread, jam and cheese.

Hi, I am writing this complaint to bring to your attention what I think that was a bad experience with my stay in Ibis Styles Montevideo. I have two complaints and one question. 1st - My second day at the hotel I asked the room to be cleaned when I left the room and to my surprise when I returned (around 8PM) the door of my room was completely OPEN. It was not just not closed or unlocked, it was open. Nothing happened, but I left the room with some belongings behind like my laptop and my luggage and it was odd to find it open when I returned. Probably when the room was cleaned the door was left open and the person did not pay attention to it. Again, nothing was missed but worth to reinforce with the hotel / staff to pay attention to it. 2nd - The second complain I think is the most serious. My room was the 858 and I am not sure if was the room or the entire floor above that was being rebuilding but I have a serious complain about the noise. I understand when the workers need to do their job during the day, but I woke up at 1:45 AM (yes, AM, in the middle of the night) with strong sounds of hammer. It took almost 10 minutes to finish and not just me but also my wife woke with the noise. I also recorded a video capturing it. I was not expecting it so late at night. This is extremely serious in my opinion. Be awakened in the middle of the night by sounds of construction is not what we expect in a vacation. And last but not least, I have one question. Is well known that Uruguay has a law to give tourists an incentive returning the taxes / fees spent with Hotels and Restaurants when paid with Credit Card. However, Ibis charges the cards in US Dolar and not Pesos Uruguaios. IS there a reason for such? I mean, paying in US$ we don't have the IVA back and the discount. There is no difference to the hotel but to a tourist it worth a lot since this is almost 20% in discount. I am looking forward to hearing from you into this. Thanks in advance.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to answer your concerns and questions: 1.We apologize in this case, we check the cameras in front of your door and we noticed that the maid who cleaned your room made the terrible mistake of leaving your door open, it is something inadmissible and far from the procedures that we apply daily in our hotel. We have already taken the measures so that this does not happen again with any other guest. 2.We are surprised about what you detail us in this point since we are not making any reform in our hotel. As you may notice, we are located in an area surrounded by buildings and our hotel is attached to one. Analyzing what you detail we assure you that the sounds came from the apartment located next to us. The only person who works at dawn is our night auditor and his position is at the entrance of the hotel, so we assure you that he does not perform any maintenance work at the hotel. 3.The tax incentive law for foreigners that applies to all hotel establishments in Uruguay is 0% VAT. The only guests who pay an additional 10% to the published rate are Uruguayans and only in high season (15/11 until the last day of Easter) Therefore no tax refund is made because there is no tax applied to the rates for foreigners and this applies the whole year. In almost all hotels in Uruguay the rates are represented in U$S (dollars) In Ibis Styles Montevideo we accept the payment in dollars and Uruguayan pesos by cash or by credit card, but by default it is charged in dollars, there is the option to pay in Uruguayan pesos but it has to be notified this to the receptionist first. There is no tax difference to pay in dollars or pesos since VAT 0% is applied. I enjoyed staying at the IBIS Montevideo Biarritz, its location was great as it was close to Punta Carretas shopping mall. Check-in was fast. The room itself was very clean, I loved the bathroom, however, the overall space of the room was very limited. There was hardly room to walk as the bed took most of the prime space. There was no space to spread my suitcase and every time I needed something from my suitcase, I had to lay it on the bed and then put it back against a tiny space against the wall. I had the breakfast twice, although it was a good breakfast, good selection of breads and medias lunas. Juice was good, however the coffee was awful. It tasted as if the coffee had been poured into a new plastic container, really awful. The television's volume was very low in every channel, I had to really be very quiet and sit still to listen to what was being said on TV. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay, I just wish the room would have been a bit bigger and there was more space to walk around. Also, I wish they will adjust the volume on their TV so that future guests can enjoy watching television without problems.

« Very nice stay, very nice staff, very nice place »

2nd time in this hotel, it is always perfect. This time I had a room at the opposit of the street, the room was delightful and what a good surprise to see the sunrise from the window. The breakfast is really complete and you can make sure that you will find something that you will like. The gymnasium is small but you have everything you need (and that is so nice to practice with such a beautiful view). The staff is very nice, thanks to the housekeeper and her team that made my stay peacefull and clean, thanks to the breakfast team that make this moment a lovely one, and thanks to the reception team that make you feel home. Always a pleasure after a long travel from Paris to stay here at Montevideo. I surely recommand that place.

all good, only a few aspects to improve, from my perspective. + I am an Accor customer and their webpage the parking is free, they wanted to charge me extra. At the end that was not done, but we had to complain about it. + when we arrived at the room it was very cold, I think that can be warmed before. + the hot water took sometimes to long to start.
