Rooms old and hotel very ill maintained. Food not at all up to standard! Price quality relationship really very bad ! I have around 4000 nights in hotels so far and this was one of the very worst ones .

We were not satisfied at all with our stay at Villa Igiea. We stayed at M Gallery Hotels before and we were very excited to stay at this one but it was a completely different experience. The staff was not pleasant and dedicated. We were begging for some attention and we only got instructions since we arrived rather then attention. The restaurant is too snobby with a dress code but at the same time we were surrounded with cats!!! This was very disappointing! The cats were even climbing on the chairs asking for food and clients were feeding them. I must say this was shocking to me. We had a terrible night of sleep as the mattresses were hard like wood! Even Sheraton Hotels have much better beds and comfortable mattresses. The quality of the towels is not great and seems old.

I stayed on night with my husband, for hia birthday. We got an upgrade to a wonderful suite with a very large terrace with sea view. I loved all the amenities, especially the coffe in the room and the Ortigia toiletries.

Upon arriving the the outside appeared nice, the inside is not. I don’t believe to have ahistorical hotel, you need the original carpet, upholstered furniture, beds and linens. The hotel staff is unfriendly and the area the hotel is located is unsafe and very dirty. The food was the only plus to the hotel. We only stayed one night due to the poor conditions, we had to pay for all 3, I am a Marriott member that travels for business all the time and never have been charged for checking out early. This is not a 5 star hotel.

I enjoyed the hotel in many respects, but he wifi was spotty and often so slow that it unusable--and I paid for the Premium wifi. Also the air conditioning was very poor. On the other hand, I love the outdoor dining for breakfast, dinner and the bar. Very, very nice. And the staff throughout the hotel are amazingly attentive, friendly and eager to please.

The hotel is set in beautiful surrounds of manicured gardens, the water frontage and sea view. Some perimeter streets (beyond the control of the hotel) are less pristine. Would recommend transportation into the city centre. Be mindful of cab drivers inappropriately increasing tariffs. The hotel features superior old world charm, room walls detailed with beading only seen in opulent buildings. Original period marble benchtops in our luxurious room were in perfect condition. Some timberwork on windows & architraves require attention. The hotel has excellent staff and service. The breakfast is also very good. I would be very happy to stay in this hotel when visiting Palermo again.

I booked a room with sea view, but I had a small window and you had to turn your head to see the sea. I asked for a room change, but none were available. While I did receive a 10% discount, it was still considerable more than my family members' room with no sea view.

Checked into the hotel and the front desk agent mixed up my reservation with my friend's reservation. Both reservations were made independently and through different channels. I was a single and received a room with 3 beds and my friend had a double and received a room with two beds pushed together. At checkout, my folio has my name and incorrect room number. Same for my friend. As I was preparing to checkout, I attempted to contact the front desk, concierge, operator multiple times for luggage assistance and could not get any answer. I dragged my two heavy suitcases up the stairs myself. Truly disappointing experience and will not recommend.

The hotel and grounds are beautiful. The staff and service was excellent. The bathroom had many problems-shower leaked which left much water on the floor, the shower drain clogged, the toilet would run continuously and left a smell. The internet was terrible. A hotel in this price category should never have these flaws.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay - very much infact - I would probably score it 6.5 but the scale above does not allow it. The real gem of the experience was the staff - in particular, Philip in Concierge, Rosanna and Hazen in the F&B sections - were the icing on the cake. They made us feel very welcomed and went over and above to help us enjoy our visit. They were wonderful and it speaks volumes of the service levels. The downsides were primarily related to the property itself - the rooms were very dated, and air-conditioning was severely lacking - making sleep so very uncomfortable to the point of suffocating at night, and the afternoon dining options (pool side bar) lacked very simple solutions like stand fans with cooling mist to just keep the air circulating. That made dining in the afternoon heat so uncomfortable. We felt so very bad for the staff who were in tie and full gear, sweating away under the heat (which could also pose a hygiene / health issue). These were simple things that could be fixed easily we think. The gym was ok - but could use a much better upgrade of equipment as the property has space for it.

Air-conditioning in our room had only one setting though the controls showed many. It was always too hot in the room. Hotel employees said that’s just the way it is. One night they brought us a fan and when plugged in the fuse blew and we lost power and AC for some time. The sink was clogged and disgusting and the hotel staff seemed generally overworked as if there were not enough employees to cover the shift. I hope Sofitel drops this hotel from their profile as it is not worthy of the endorsement of Sofitel.

The room was more for staff than for guests, the view of the port was at the edge of the port where tenders and trash are in plain sight. The key cards were not pre-demagnetized so we had to walk back to the reception to get into our room, twice, once late at night and the next morning after a swim. The setting and gardens and pool are lovely. Overpriced for an auxiliary room adjacent to the main building in the annexe - to avoid.

Good junior suite but small bathroom let it down. Staff mostly friendly and attentive. Stayed for 7 days and would have liked to see change on menu in Terrace Restaurant in the period. Hotel has great aspect but area surrounding it is very run down.

A thoroughly comfortable stay in a grand dame of an hotel. The location was perfect and the sea view room gave excellent views of the marina. Although a little dated the room was well furnished, bed comfortable and good linens. The breakfast buffet had an excellent selection of items and the location for breakfast was just perfect.

Our first experience at Villa Igiae was some 25 years ago. Because we had wonderful memories of our stay then, we decided to get back, as we intented to visit Palermo once again with our daughter this time. Once again we enjoyed a very pleasant stay and hospitality was great. Our room was very comfortable and had a great view over the bay of Palermo. All staff members showed an excellent performance, with special mention for the housekeeping lady on our floor. She was really top. Congratulations!

This hotel is not a 5 star hotel. It needs a lot of repairs and painting. The rooms looked old and the paint was coming off the windows and the air condition was dirty. However, the breakfast was good as was the restaurant service.
