Very nice breakfast but dinner is overpriced. Very good service. Tiny bathroom. Quite comfortable bed and good air conditioning. Ideal location. Can walk everywhere! Fabulous iced tea in the lobby which was free and refreshing.

« Hotel good, spa not good »

Hotel facilities, room amenities, location, staff - all are good. Spa is nice but not managed properly - sauna takes 30-40 mins to warm up and never reaches the right temp. Sauna is too small. Steam room did not work. But when it works - it does not smell nice. that is why i did not use it this time and the previous time I stayed in this hotel. the pool is nice. My massage got delayed 20 mins and they knew this in advance but nobody bothered to call me. Overall it is a very good hotel, but for the price I would expect a luxury level and better managed spa centre.

« Hi. Bedroom and services was just excellent. Only one big thing, when we let our car, it got some big scratches on velg. »

We’re having 5 night stays to celebrate hubby’s birthday. We passed many special anniversaries when we stayed in this hotel. And as our stay was always well passed here, without hesitation we let our car in their parking station. Unless, when we got back in paris, we found big scratch on the velg. As my hubby is really love his car, it becomes a deep disappointment. However, it can be happened everywhere. But as long as we travelled from paris-belgium-germany-amsterdam-paris on that short holiday , never had any accident. Thank you.

Definitely a grand hotel. Well located in the old town of Amsterdam and within walking distance to the tourist sites in the old town. The cost was on the high end especially during the tulip season. Our bathroom definitely need more light or change to lighter colored wall tiles. All other amenities are top notch !!

The service at the Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam was of the highest quality. The personal involvement of the staff was better than that of a Ritz Carlton. They were helpful, friendly, and always had a warm greeting. One staff member even stopped us on the street, many blocks from the hotel, just to say hello!

I have stayed at this hotel for many years and the service is second to none. This year on arrival I had my room upgraded to an amazing suite which made the stay even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this hotel as one of the best in Amsterdam.

« quiet and luxury »

We are very content with our five day stay in The Grand Sofitel. The service is excellent, with abundance of personnel, always polite, friendly, helpful and experienced. We asked for the council chamber and were spontaneously offered a private tour through the building, which is gorgeous. The atmosphere/'vibe' in the hotel, restaurants and bar is very pleasant. The concierge helped us a number of times with suggestions and advice on public transportation. Our room viewed on the inner court and we had absolute quietness, which is important for us. Also from within the building there were hardly any sounds. All in all an excellent experience - we will be back!

High quality service , great food, and bar with Belgian Palm beer from the tap ! Quiet room on 3rd floor with 4 different pillows, free water, syrup wafles and nespresso coffee. Friendly staff at every corner of the hotel.

We went privatly for one night to the Grand in Amsterdam and had a splendid stay in this fabulous hotel. Superb service and warmth approaches you as soon as you enter the main entrance. We were lucky to be upgraded to a senior suite and it was fantastic. We had something to celebrate and I can tell you that this is the spot to do that. Emile & Wendy November '17

Spent a great three days, filled with luxurious treatments, food and surroundings in this lovely, historic hotel. A very personal approach, with an incredibly high standard that is shared between all staff members. The inside hotel tour is recommended, opening a world of historic events that took place there.

I have stayed in Sofitel hotels around the world over the last few months and was really looking forward to the stay in Amsterdam. The hotel is beautiful and the reception/public areas are every nice. The problem was noise. Our bedroom was located above the loading bay on a side street (Sint Agnietenstraat). On Saturday morning at 530am we were woken up by a truck pulling up and then by 2 hours of unloading. The noise was incredible. We asked at the front desk whether the same thing would happen the next morning and were assured that they would look into it and get back to us but there was no follow up. At 530am on Sunday morning the same thing happened. Being tired and jet lagged and looking forward to sleeping in on the weekend of an anniversary trip this noise ruined the holiday. I'm also sad to say that the bar service was haphazard and the lunch in the Bistro was very underwhelming. The vegetarian curry was inedible -- a watery, flavourless mess -- and the fish and chips soggy and unremarkable in every way. It is very hard to believe that the food we ate came from the same kitchen as a Michelin star restaurant. Moreover the ambience was ruined while someone ran a vacuum cleaner for 30 minutes through the bar and restaurant area. A few other minor complaints -- the shower flooded the bathroom floor every time no matter what precautions we took and the gym/change room areas were very small and not well serviced/maintained. We so wanted to love this hotel, as we do the Sofitel St James in London, but the experience was very disappointing. Management should be upfront about the potential for noise in some rooms and should at least be responsive to concerns raised.

May I suggest that we also have rooms with a lovely view on our secluded garden, these rooms are more quiet most of the time. We sincerely regret that the price-quality did not meet your expectations in our ‘Le Petit Bistro’ during lunch. We will share these comments with our Food & Beverage Manager and of course as well with our Chef de Cuisine to prevent this from happening again in the near future. We chose this hotel because we loved the Sofitel St James in London. We were not disappointed. This is an excellent hotel with wonderful staff. They are unfailingly helpful. The weather was awful during our stay so we spent more time about the hotel than we would have otherwise.

« Good hotel but certainly not great and systems / staff need sorting »

Am not sure how they got the 'Legend' tag as they are not much better than other Sofitel's. The rooms are nice but not great (we had a pillar in the middle of ours) and the bathrooms whilst modern are oddly designed and not overly practical i.e. shallow long basin which cannot be filled with water. The staff are friendly and the facilities nice but we felt like second class citizens at breakfast when the manager seated us and explained nothing (we had to ask for a menu and order our own coffee). Yet the table beside us got everything explained and order taken immediately! As a Platinum member, without me knowing, I was entitled to the butler service - but they didn't tell us about this until 24 hours after we arrived! After 26 hours of flying halfway around the world we were given a room above the bar - very noisy and not great for trying to get some rest. No room upgrade was available (have not had one with the last 3 Sofitel's in the last month we have stayed in - the loyalty programme seems pointless). One day they didn't service our room until I phoned at 4pm, but then apparently they did the turn down service at 5pm so when we got back at 9pm it did not look like anything had been done i.e. the lights were off and the curtains open - bizarre! Another night the turn down service was also forgotten and getting a newspaper only happened 50% of the time. They did provide some extras to make up for their errors but the errors and issues should not be occurring in the first place!

Selected this Hotel off the internet in Australia and could not have picked a more perfect location or Hotel for our relaxing 3 days in Amsterdam. The staff were great and we were treated as if we were the only guests in the Hotel. The Grand faces a canal so seeing all the sights is an easy canal ride or a pleasant stroll as everything is within an easy walk.

comfortable and enjoyable. Place is spacious and quiet. Service is superb. staff are warm and friendly, and reception and concierge are very helpful and happy to assist and answer questions. Having a garden restaurant adds to the nice indoor spacious one. The rooms are elegant, and I had a canal view which added to the feel I am in Amsterdam.

« Brilliant stay »

We stayed for two nights in December. This was an excellent location to explore the city with everything within walking distance. As a platinum member we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite and enjoyed a number of treats from room service. We would also recommend the hot stones massage in the spa. Breakfast was also excellent
