« It was good »

Very good and helpful staff. The room was nice but some improvements needed. First I asked for 2 queen beds and actually in the room was only one king bed and a adjacent small bed. Second, the bathroom was an open space. Since I was with my son I had to close the connecting door every time one of us used the toilet or shower, not easy. I thought the hotel provided tooth brush and tooth paste, but there were none. Overall was ok but not great.

My first and probably last trip to Thailand and/or Asia. Checking in was not a problem upon arriving , the resort is actually divided by a main road so you have to cross the road to access the main beach if you are unlucky enough to be based on the other side as we were. Let me start by saying the staff are friendly which always helps. When we were shown to our rooms, I thought it was pretty average - not a 4* level. The attention to detail..the lobby where we were brought into ..the pillars in the lobby where painted but no care was given ..you could see the painting was sub standard. The view - well - there was no view except it overlooked a portion of the pool which was noisy because of the amount of kids there. The food - not great. Infact I regret booking breakfast with this trip as I could have saved a lot more money. The omelettes were either over cooked or undercooked..the overall food quality was poor. Towels by the bar were not always replaced. No place to put used towels. When picking a new towel they were covered with wet ones people have already used. The room was ok..bed sheets were awful and felt cheap. TV selection was poor..restaurants and bars on the Chaweng road had all the sports channels. Why doesn’t the hotel if it’s a 4*? Housekeeping staff also need to realise that if no one answers the door, they are more then likely sleeping so come back in an hour or so..don’t constantly knock my door irrespective if there is or isn’t a do not disturb sign. The towels were always fresh. Room cleanliness after the housekeeping was good. Shower - awful. The curtain was absolutely filthy and was mouldy with stains. No problems with security. Left money on my bedside daily and was always there when I returned. Beach - awful. The further you go down Chaweng beach it becomes cleaner - resorts like arkbar and lub D are not 4* places but their beach is very clean and had no algae or rubbish compared to where we were based. During the 14 days here, we never stayed on the beach here at all. We always went to lub d / ark bar. We spoke to one local Thai man who owns a restaurant and he was saying I think people do not probably clean the beach where we were because no one cares. Perhaps Novotel this is something you should think about. I could have saved 800 pounds by staying somewhere else. When checking out, I wanted to confirm my airport transfer back to the airport. This was difficult. I was told I had to pay 300 bhat. I left instructions for the lobby staff to call a tour east agent person to explain when I’m leaving and when the transport will occur as I paid to my travel agent transfer fees to and from the hotel. The information was not communicated when I returned from my day tour even though I left the number with them. I was extremely annoyed by this. If my tour didn’t finish early, I or the staff would not have been able to speak to anyone at tour east as they close at 5! My tour luckily finished at 3.30. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not.

« Pleasant stay with reasonable price »

Except a bit delay on replying guest email from reservation during pre arrival experience, from the airport pickup till departure was excellent. Every staff was very nice. Room is spacious, pool and the beach were very nice! However, one suggestion is provide the shuttle back to hotel from chaweng would be perfect for guest or even charge in lower price since the transportation in samui is too expensive by just short distance.

Was disappointed on arrival to be put on the hill side of the road. You said it’s clear when booking but it definitely was misleading on Expedia. Also pool was very very dirty and 3 of the family ended up with ear infections and we had to get a doctor out- I’m sure it was the pool. Food was often run out when ordering. Our rooms were clean and nice though.

« Room is huge but lack of something - read my review »

Very huge room with sofa area, dining area, big bathroom, the room size is as good as two rooms. The bath tub water seems yellowish - because of this I dare not use the bath tub. The TV is very blur (for all the channels), even though they get technician to change the antenna for me it is still blur the next day. The shower head holder is loose. Requested for late check out the day before my departure till 2pm next day, front desk said ok, but at night I received a note in the room saying that they could only extend till 1pm instead. The toilet bowl seems to get choked easily.

Room size was awesome two bedroom family suite, little light in the room. Sofas uncomfortable, with two bedroom suite there should be two bathrooms very important. It's a resort...beach cleaning could be better. Our AC kept going out on 5th day of stay later they fixed it. House keeping staff , front desk staff and FnB staff was very friendly and efficient you should be proud of that...

We stayed in a big family room hillside and the room was massive. It is a shame the room was tired and really needed updating. It was clean though but was not very modern. The walk to the beach was 5 minutes and not a problem. The service was good throughout the hotel and breakfast was a treat with lots of choice from cuisines all around the world. Happy hour 3 times a day was good but prices were still high compared to walking 2 minutes to a beach bar. We eat at the hotel twice and it was really good food.

My family booked with this hotel because of its location and we were not disappointed.
