« Smelly, noisy room »

Arrived late in the evening with my son after travelling up on eurostar. On the surface the room was correct and the amenities were correct. There was, however, a disagreeable smell (damp?). After a while the sound of some sort of machinery started up outside (air conditioning unit, ventilation system?). I had requested a quiet room. The noise went on all night, sometimes louder, sometimes a bit quieter. I hardly slept. To cap it all, when I went to the bathroom during the night, two drops of water fell onto my head!! When I checked the toilet lid, it was covered with drops of water so there is obviously a serious condensation problem. I didn't have time to discuss this with reception in the morning as we had to quickly get to the west Country to visit my seriously ill father - the reason for our visit . I've never had such a bad experience with a hotel in the Accor group. Extremely expensive for the quality of our stay.

I have always stayed on the top floor. This time I got a room just below the lobby and it was terrible. People, guests but mainly personnel with very loud heels were walking on top of the room and it sounds like elephants are on top of it.

It was fine. I travel 250 to 300 nights a year. There are certain hotels which I know will always do an impressive job. I have stayed at Mercure properties before. They are more like American fast food rather than French food. Yes, it does the job but its not memorable.

« Great location & service but disappointed no early check-in avaialble »

I have stayed several times with this property as its location is excellent being right next to Paddington station (where Heathrow Express is based). The hotel was refurbished a few years ago and is still in very good shape. I like the breakfast and everything in the room works. However i arrived from Amsterdam at 8am to the hotel and was disappointed the front desk could not find a room for me to check in early. I udnerstand the hotel was busy but am surprised EVERY room was checking out at exactly 12 noon -there is always somebody checking out early to catch a flight (like me !). I have had early check ins before (an Indain manager from memory) but this time the front desk seemed to play by the book and it didnt seem they were even going to look to see if anything could be done. So that was disappointing because that is what client service is all about. Anyway i think iw ill still stay at the property next time but will be tempted to try somewhere else near Paddington station if any good deals come up...

I appreciated the comfortable bed, the warm bathroom floor, complimentary water, herbal tea bag option. If I were to suggest 2 improvements, they would be: 1. When I asked for taxi upon departure, a (contracted car service) was called and I was not advised it would not be a taxi. I preferred a taxi, which would have also been about 5 pounds less expensive. I should have been advised beforehand so I could have chosen the car service vs. walking a bit for a taxi. I would have chosen taxi. 2. It would have been nice to see more vegetarian options at breakfast buffet (more cheese at buffet, perhaps a fruit salad, perhaps a green salad). Overall, it was a very nice experience until the car service annoyance. Thanks!

The hotel staff is very kind and smiling. They tried to help with any kind of request that I had. The reception team is amazing. Both the room and the building are very clean. Flawless housekeeping. Modern and warm design. The location is very convenient, 5 minutes walk from Paddington but also hidden in a quiet area. The room was very clean and well furnished but very small. It was ok for a 3-night stay but it wouldn’t be convenient for a longer stay.

Short but pleasant stay. Staff are helpful and friendly, location is excellent. Rooms are small (as expected) and well the fire alarm at 2.00 am could not be helped!

Clean and comfortable room - although room size is not big, the bed and the duvet and pillows very comfortable. Good breakfast included. All the staff whether at reception or the cafe (where breakfast was served) are very polite and friendly.

The staff greeted us with friendly smiles and good information. The rooms are a bit weird to get to with a couple of doors opening into a tiny hallway but those extra doors kept the noise down because when they were open you could hear everything. The breakfast was awesome with great fresh choices. Good location, lots of stuff out the restaurant door. The staff was always accommodating.

All went smoothly from arrival to departure. The restaurants were fine and the staff were friendly. The only downsides were that the water pressure in the bathroom was very low and I found the extreme variations in the nightly room rate hard to understand. Monday was a bank holiday and the cost was GBP 106. Tuesday was an ordinary day and the cost was almost GBP 170, with the explanation being totally confusing.
