Stayed in Melbourne for the big car show. The hotel was well situated in Lt Lonsdale St and close to the CBD, transport and especially the restaurants. The room was high quality and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I particularly noted how quiet the room was considering the location and the amount of building works occurring nearby. Housekeeping was a bit slow in maintaining the room.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Novotel Central in Melbourne. The rooms were the cleanest we have come across in a hotel/motel. We could not believe that every one of the staff at all level were polite and smiling, whether it be in the dining areas, concierge, cleaners or just just that were in the lifts at the same time. I worked in a customer service area for 40 years and am highly tuned to poor customer service. This just did not happen. I actually asked a young waiter in the restaurant on our last night whether they had been trained to be friendly, and he replied that it was just natural. My only main criticisms were (a) the safe would not lock (I didn't worry while I was there as we didn't have anything of great value in the room), but reported it on my exit. (b) the lighting in the room was a good ambient light, but unless you sat on the bed, it was not bright enough to read.

« Just 1 let down »

Overall stay was as expected, pleasant check in service upon arrival. Only negative was in making use of 2 x drinks voucher we happily recieved prior to a dinner engagement the waitress saw we had arrived so we took our seats, and waited and waited - we couldn't afford to stay any longer and departed.

We couldn’t fault the service and the comfort of the bed. The breakfast was also great. Whoever designed the rooms has obviously never stayed in one with a buddy or a new partner etc. The whole room lights up if you need the toilet in the middle of the night and there’s zero sleep in for someone if the other person gets up and showers etc. Beware if that’s an issue for you!

Check in counter queue was understandably long (long weekend), however the whole process didn't take too long. However, my luggage took almost two hours to arrive my room even after multiple calls to inform that I have a prior appointment elsewhere and needed my luggage to be delivered ASAP. Likewise, during check out, it took over an hour before a bell boy was sent to assist me with my luggage. Again, multiple calls were made.

« Easily exceeded our expectations »

Valet parking was easy, check-in efficient with staff very friendly and helpful. A $5 upgrade to a Superior King was accepted and we were very impressed with the modern feel of the room. Breakfast was as good as any of the more expensive hotels we have stayed in. At $151 for the night including breakfast we will definitely be staying here again.

Stay was ok. The room seemed a bit crowded with two double beds. Throughout our stay we haven't had mugs/ glasses replaced/ cleaned at all. Rubbish has not been taken out either. We opted out for green option of 'not replacing towels' however, we thought that at least dirty glasses and mugs as well as rubbish would have been taken out. We stayed for three nights...

I really enjoy your hotel. It is in a great spot, the hotel is maintained really well There seems to be some confusion when checking in between Novotel and Ibis. I think it took about 15 minutes to check in. I travel for business and use a third party site to book however my choice is Novotel. However I seem to be penalised that I cannot register points against my Accor membership. This week i stayed at Swissotel but they allowed it? I have stayed there twice in a couple of weeks and breakfast was included once but not the next - is this consistent?
