I'm staying in the North on business so the company I'm contracted with are responsible for payment - however, when I checked in they had not yet provided the credit card details to the Mercure Haydock so I explained the situation and used my debit card as a stop gap (which I've done in the past when there's been a delay). When I came to check out I asked reception whether they had got the card details from Matalan and was assured that everything was ok and I would not personally be charged. Unfortunately this turned out to be incorrect and I was unexpectedly charged over £200 - if the Mercure had told me at the time I could have sorted it out promptly but the incorrect information provided by the hotel has resulted in a financial shortfall I should never have had to carry.

All went well, staff very helpful. However your receptionist kindly booked us a taxi for 6.30pm on Thursday 3rd Oct that arrived at 7pm and instead of dropping us at The Commercial Pub in Ashton dropped us at The Presendential which was a 15 min walk in the poooouring rain !!! we were not happy!!

Really enjoyable 4 night stay at the Mercure Hotel, Haydock. Excellent service from start to finish and all the staff in all areas deserve praise for their approach to work. They went out of their way to help and cater for us in anyway possible. Most importantly they do the little things well, which many other establishments fail to deliver. The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming, courteous, polite and professional at all times. I couldn't find fault during my stay and neither could any of my party. We had breakfast and dinner a number of times. The service was great, the food was brilliant and excellent value. The steaks and sides on Saturday evening couldn't have been better (trust me we know our steaks) and the wines perfect. Rooms spacious with everything you need. Comfortable beds, quiet and good night's sleep. Nice upgrade to Privilege which we really appreciated Megan!! We only had time for one visit to the Swimming Pool / SPA area. Again excellent, friendly staff and great facilities to unwind. Overall totally enjoyable stay and we will be back very soon.

Check in went very smoothly and we were very happy with our room. All staff were very helpful and made us feel very welcome, especially (Megan) on reception. The fitness facilities are excellent. Would definitely us hotel again. Didn't enjoy food it was badly presented under and over cooked to the point were it was not edible, but this would not stop us returning, we would just eat somewhere else.

Room nice and clean, staff always helpful on front desk and bars. I like to get a privilege room when I can as there is a bottle of water and coke, so when I get there late there is at least a drink in room along with coffee machine.
