We stayed for the one night, rooms were clean and had a bit of character which was nice. TV was outdated but we weren’t there to watch TV. Breakfast was good, staff very friendly. All you need for a short stay in that area, Would stay again.

On arrival there was what appeared to be a Christmas party in full swing (roughly 9pm). The music was incredibly loud and the male checking us in didn't mention it until I did. He said it was a party when asked and that was it. When entering the room we were dissatisfied with the décor and the pictures on the website miss out the mould, single pain windows (which really helped with the noise) and grubby exterior. Not to mention the big line through the TV when trying to watch a programme. The noise carried on for some time, past 11 o clock with an extremely loud base. I would question if you have a noise license to go past 11 o clock at night at this frequency. Alongside this, the room was extremely hot with no air con and clearly an issue given that there was a fan in the room and it was November..

I stay at this hotel frequently (Gold member) and mostly I am looked after well by the Reception manager (Nick), however, his efforts are often undermined by other people changing my room allocation, for example, I ask for a quiet room and then I get allocated one of the most noisy rooms right next to the main road/roundabout. I have had to change rooms several times in the past for this reason - including on this trip. I have found the Gym manager to be rude and arrogant and while I am on about it the free weights are not good enough - the heaviest weight is only 28kg not nearly enough and the space given over to free weights is far too small for the amount of guests you have. I have been coming to the hotel for over a year and there has been no investment or improvement to the gym space in all that time. The bar menu needs updating now because it has been the same for too long.

I have stayed at the Noke previously but was extremely disappointed on this occasion. I had booked a deluxe room. The television wasn’t working, the electric socket for the kettle didn’t work and the window wouldn’t shut. I called reception on 2 occasions and was unable to get a reply. As a final insult when I went to reception in the morning to check out there was nobody there. Eventually I had to seek assistance in the dining room.

Very pleasant stay. Our first room had mould in the bathroom but we were moved without any fuss and given a couple of complimentary drinks for the inconvenience. Bar was a bit rowdy because of the works "do" going on but the noise didn't disturb us once we were back in the room. There was quite a bit of noise until just after midnight which sounded like someone moving furniture around. Possibly preparing a meeting room? If it had carried on, i would have said something but it stopped just after midnight.

We enjoyed our stay at your hotel. The foor/ buffet at the evening party and breakfast was good. The room was clean and spacious. The decor was pleasant. However, the room carpet was thread bear and stained. In the bathroom tiles also needed re- grouting. The pool area was a bonus but the changing rooms were dirty and tired. The pool side shower also need fixing as the water only trickled.

Be warned if you plan to stay at The Noke at weekends when the hotel has functions you will be treated as second class. On a recent stay I checked into the hotel late afternoon then headed off to a dinner engagement .When I returned in a heavy rainstorm I was advised I could not get through to my room because all rooms were blocked off by a function which meant normal access was not available to residents . I was made to walk outside in the rain in the dark with no signage to find an open fire exit to the corridor to the rooms the other side of the function .The hotel offered no umbrellas or assistance to find your room .When I complained in the morning about how they treated their residents over their function bookings I was assured a manager would contact me .I gave my phone number and email address but over one month later no one has contacted me .This is a franchise hotel and it shows .It is a very grubby hotel that doesnt merit the Mercure name . As a Siver card holder for Accor I have stayed in better IBIS Budget franchises It is for ACCOR to deal with as they are letting their brand down by allowing The Noke to treat customers with disdain . I would advise anyone to AVOID booking this hotel at weekends

Hi there, Thank you for you review. I can only apologise for the experience you have had as it seems that we could have delivered a greater service to you and for that I apologise. We do advertise on our web site when we hold functions as we appreciate that guests have to either walk up some the stairs to get to their rooms or walk outside and around the building. I appreciate that this is not ideal and the owners are aware of this and the plans are to rectify this soon. I also apologise that you were not called back as this is very controllable. Being honest with you, I did not receive any communication in regards to your message so I will look into this process. For clarity, the hotel understands its role as a service provider and in the community. We would never treat anyone like a second class citizen but your feedback is welcome as it strengthens my desire to reinforce the service message to the team which I am sure we will all learn from. Once again, I can only apologise for the issue you have experienced during your stay. « A hotel stay should be peaceful and relaxing »

Had to request to be moved into another room (and had to state I was not happy before getting the room) as someone in the room above was playing some kind of drums when I returned from my evening meal at 21:00hrs. Long day absolutely shattered and the last thing I needed to do was repack my bags and move to another room.

Comfortable stay although we did have two problems which we reported at Reception on checking out. One was chewing gum stuck down the side of the bedside cabinet, the second was some confusion on your part over our departure date, a member of your staff knocked on our door and said we should have checked out on Saturday morning, when in fact our reservation was until Sunday morning.
