A lovely room (privilege) loved the decor and the bed was very nice. unfortunately on arrival at 1400 our room was not ready. (Check in time) we were given a complementary drink and even after this was still not ready so we waited around for a while. Front of house staff a bit short and not very helpful. Shame as the room was lovely.

No prior notification that swimming pool was not open. At least we could have tried for another hotel. The Hotel was partly chosen because of swimming pool facility. The room was not cleaned until after 3.30pm on the only full day we were there. I had to complain at Reception. The room is expensive and not to be able to use it for the majority of the day was not satisfactory. The magnet key for room kept not working and we had to go back several times with both keys to get them to re-magnetise the key. Annoying. The coffee machine was very slow although the coffee was worth waiting for. Two machines would speed it up. Would a fresh fruit salad at breakfast take the emphasis away from tinned fruit?

Room 130, Grand hotel Bristol. The lighting was very poor ( dim ) and no mirror for doing makeup .The T.V. was on the wrong wall, it was at right angles to the bed making it awkward to watch . Everything else was very good.

The Bristol Grand is centrally located in the older part of Bristol close to the St Nicholas Market and many other sights. My room, 142, was a good size though the gloomy view from the window was typical of the older style city center hotels but had the benefit of being free from street noise. Breakfast was good with a reasonable range of items. Bathroom was a good size and towels were changed each day.

We had only one comfortable chair to sit in initially until we requested one. We requested an alarm call as my husband had to be at the Bristol Royal infirmary by 9.00. This never happened -fortunately I woke early. Room rather basic really.

It was appauling that considering my booking had been made in 3/5/2019, on arrival my room had been allocated to someone else.There were no rooms left in the hotel. I arrived at 1.30am and i was then informed i would be taken by taxi to another hotel. I was staying in the hotel due to a conference booking. The next day when i tried to check in again i was initially told i would be sharing and when i informed in relation to the problems the day before i was informed then i managed to get my room for the stay. The whole experience was unacceptable and i wish to have a full refund for the the night i was sent to another hotel ie Tuesday 24/9/2019. Kind regards Dr P S.

« Poor experience. »

Not the best experience. Arrived to be allocated to an already occupied room. Got upstairs to find a bemused guest in my allocated room at 10:30pm. Finally had a room allocated to find a sogging wet patch underneath main window with a damp overpowering smell. Reported this to main reception who promised to have it looked at. Very little was done as I had this damp patch on the carpet for the 3 days I was a guest! Lack of visible and highlighted No Smoking signs meant a guest smoked in their room, setting off the fire alarm at around 1:20am on my first night. Not the best experience at your Hotel I am afraid. For a 4 star hotel, it was a disappointing experience.

I was part of the conference group that you hosted. The hotel was too busy to cope with the breakfast rush and many of the items you list weren't available. The lunches provided on the first 2 days were poor with long queues and not enough food. There were not many fresh food options. The swimming pool was shut and there was not reciprocal arrangement with another pool. The room was ok but all in all I don't feel it warranted the high price. I will not choose to stay at one of your hotels again.
