« average 3 star experience »

The grounds are lovely and the staff is friendly, but the hotel is very dated and clearly not very well cared for. There seem to be lack of care and attention (piles of laundry in the spa reception, cleaning items out in the open, mouldy doors, half open coffee bags spilling out everywhere in a freezing 'relaxation room' £1 coin lockers, etc. In a 4 star hotel, you would expect complimentary water in the room and an iron which has been cleaned every now and then, plus a ground floor room overlooking a car park meant that if you wanted privacy, you could not have any daylight. Perhaps a different type of blinds would be useful.

« Lack of basic cleanliness in room, reported at reception twice, 3 days later room still not cleaned. »

We stayed here two years ago, what a change. Midges (small flys) around breakfast bar, reported, also around bar area, reported. No attempt to resolve. Hair and food scraps in room, not hoovered in days, reported twice, still not done on checkout three days later. When checking out two panel vans parked back to back across entrance to reception delivering chairs, complained to duty manager, she could not understand that the convenience of paying customers took precedence over transporting chairs into the hotel.

« Generally pleasant and satisfactory »

Founf the electricity cut for more than an hour difficult. No help from the hotel. Loved the conservatory dining room. Meat meals too large a portion. Sometimes a long wait for service at meal times but waiters frIendly and helpful. Enjoyed the swimming pool. Appauled at the number of cigarette ends outside our room and lying around the grounds.

« Lovely room in a beautiful hotel »

Whilst attending a wedding we stayed at Walton Hall hotel and were very impressed with the size and comfort of our room. We had our baby boy with us and the room was spacious to accommodate him and his many items and we were provided with a travel cot which was very useful! Lovely stay - would recommend.

« Lovely location, good food, friendly staff. »

Enjoyed our stay, room was big and comfortable. Grounds are gorgeous and our dog enjoyed a swim in the lake. We enjoyed the swimming pool too. Restaurant food is very good ,brilliant breakfast. No hotel information available, had to look it up on wickipaedia to find out the interesting history. Tried to contact hotel directly to ask about bringing our dog. Told we had to use the internet, but no box available to say we wanted to bring the dog.Added to a free text box.

« Poor »

When we booked in we said The receptionist that were parked in the disabled bay due to my wife cannot walk very Far, we had a room a long walk from the main building and on the third floor.

« Excellent getaway, nice and peaceful. »

Cosy beds, clean facilities and friendly staff. Sauna was out of use for the weekend so we were unable to utilise the facilities to the full extent. Spa could have been more organised but get massages overall. Great breakfast selection and Dinner was just above average seeping on what you get.

« Disappointing »

Check in was great and the lady on check in was really welcoming and friends (I think her name was Alessia). When I got to my room I was disappointed to find that it didn’t seem to have been cleaned properly as I found rubbish from the previous occupant in the bin, their room service order was still on the desk and the chair by the desk had extremely damaged upholstery which is really not what I would expect when checking in to ANY hotel. As we had arrived for a wedding taking place that day and we would only be staying for one night we didn’t really have time to complain and be moved. Later on in the day during w break in the wedding I went to book breakfast at reception. Again the lady at reception was really helpful and got it all booked in against our room. A few hours later I realised we didn’t need to book breakfast and went down to speak with a man at reception and explained we wouldn’t need breakfast. He told me we would be able to get the refund for the breakfast when we checked out the next day, however, when I went to do this the lady on reception (Alessia again) told me she just had to check to with the restaurant manager even though I explained that her colleague (Christian, I think) had told me I would be able to get the refund at checkout. She then took my number and told me she would call me to let me know the outcome. We then booked a cab through reception and were told that it would be there in 15 minutes. After waiting 25 minutes I went to reception to ask if they could check on the status of our taxi we were trying to make a certain train. The woman on reception (not Alessia) told me quite dismissively that she couldn’t check in with the taxi company as there are 3 that the hotel works with and she didn’t know who it was and that (instead of her asking Alessia who was stood right next to her) I would have to wait for Alessia to be free and ask her to call the taxi service instead. This seemed quite rude especially as there was only one other person after me, who was dealt with very quickly, and then she had no one else to help as opposed to Alessia who was clearly quite busy with another customer on what seemed like a complicated manner. I waited for another 5 minutes, gave up and just waited for the taxi to arrive. I then later received a voicemail from Alessia stating that I would not receive a refund for the breakfast as, even though I had not eaten it, there had apparently been a rule change which stated I wasn’t able to have it refunded. When I explained that that wasn’t what was told to me and as such I had not had breakfast and so I had paid £20 for nothing she just repeated that she was sorry and that I could not have a refund. This, plus the state of the room and the rudeness I experience when asking for an update on my taxi solidified the my poor experience at this hotel unfortunately and I wouldn’t recommend it to others.

« The Rooms need upgrading »

I was not impressed with the rooms in the Orchard Suit. The chair was ripped and the curtains where too long and grubby. The bacthroom was not as clean as I would expect and there is black scum around the shower scree.

« Great location. »

Photos are misleading as we thought we might be staying in the old building. Such a shame there is no history about the house and buildings. Restaurant food was ok but felt as if a lot of it was vacuum packed fast food, ie souffle. Staff didn't seem to have any idea about service.

« Excellent stay and great meal »

It was a great stay at a lively hotel with great swimming pool. It was over the bank holiday weekend and they were extremely busy. The staff however kept their cool and served us well. For the price of the stay and meal included, you cannot expect any frills however the meal was god but dessert was amazing. I recommend their chocolate cake as a must

« Pleasant staff and comfortable stay. »

Friendly staff. Very comfortable room and surroundings. Sadly the driveway passing points have very large potholes. When we went for our evening meal the air conditioning was far too low❄ several couples had to move tables. We were offered other customers meals twice? When I asked for a pink gin the waiter didn't know if they sold it.

Overwhelming overnight stay in a very beautiful hotel with picturesque surroundings. The location is the best selling point I believe having been in the middle of lush gardens and lakes. Fantastic for honeymoon and weddings.

« Needs refurbishment and rooms too far away and therefore remote from reception, but grounds stunning »

Rooms in need of a clean and redecoration. Toilet broke on last night. Breakfast was poor (eggs cold). Rooms were in the manor house which was very remote from the rest of the complex (a car drive to reception). Would have been good to have some staff present or at least a bar open in the manor house to make it feel you weren't alone

« Good but could do better »

Location great with lovely grounds. Should not be called a 'Spa Hotel' more a hotel with a pool. There is no jaccuzzi. The sauna was out of order but there was a steam room. The pool is lovely and warm but very shallow. The room was absolutely stiffling. The air conditioning wasn't working and the windows do not open. We were on the third floor and the the window was in a dormer. The weathet was pleasant but not hot so I am just glad we weren't there when it was hot! We were staying as part of an extended family group and this was the same for a number of us. On complaining to Reception, we were told that maintenance would bring us a fan! This was a small desk fan which helped a little. Lack of sleep does spoil your enjoyment! I have stayed in other hotels in the Accor Group and unfortunately this one does not compare on levels of service.

« A great family celebration. »

The staff were excellent and very helpful. The beds were comfortable. (Wished we had found out who made the mattresses.) Food was reasonable. It would have been nice to have evening entertainment. (Miniature golf course?)
