Not cheap, but really great welcome and excellent hotel with new and old parts to stay in. Impressive grounds and lake. The restaurant is really low quality with high prices for terrible food, not in keeping with rest of hotel at all

Gutted to find two functions (a prom in main part of hotel and wedding in the old part) on the Friday night. Our room was directly above the wedding. Disco/band thumping underneath our room and wedding guests talking/laughing in garden right underneath our room- and we were only on first floor so really really close ... We were given no notice that these were going on. Could you have found a room away from the noise for people not attending these functions? No one showed us our room and we were left to wander around and even ended up in the wedding party by mistake! Our room was rather odd with bed being in a corridor between stairs from bathroom and ridiculously large sitting room. Why couldn't the bed have been in there instead. Breakfast mediocre. On a plus note we had lovely massages at the spa. Sorry to say apart from the massages we didn't enjoy our stay at all.

We last stayed there 17 years ago when it was a Time Share so should have realised it wouldn’t be the same. We were disappointed that the outside swimming pool and tennis courts had not been kept though? We visited the main house and thought the previous reception area there could have been decorated better. It was just a rather sad looking neglected space. Rooms were rather small too, with strange window and curtain system. Glad we were not paying the full price. Our package with dinner and breakfast was fine though.

Staff were helpful and friendly. We stayed 4 days but if staying longer a change in evening menu would be nice. . The surrounding park area was great ( the weather helped ). Would recommend this hotel .

was not impressed with quality of facilities spa closed at 8pm at weekend did not have time to use also very basic room no safe or fridge and no air conditioning I know we booked standard room but even basic hotels have air con and safe!! food expensive as was water should have water provided in romsStaff there were lovely esp David behind bar he was very accomodating and friendly reception staff could try being bit more pleasant and smile and say good morning even--i know these are nit picking points but all make for pleasant time. the hotel was set in amazing grounds and loved that though was a bit farther away from civilisation than we expected

Clean, spacious room - pleasant communal areas - bar and gardens. Friendly professional staff - good breakfast. Tasty evening meal - sat to eat alone in small meeting room as there was a wedding / corporate event and prom evening all on same time. This was the only slight negative of an otherwise pleasant weekend - will certainly return

Stayed for 2 nights for nephews wedding. Difficulties to book a room as per their invite. Eventually managed to speak to Kelly who sorted everything....five phone calls with people who didn't have a clue. No opening window in room. Temp 28 degrees. Bar area has one till and card reader. Restaurant had a function so ate in bar. Food Luke warm. Slow service. Asked to speak to some e re food - nothing. Spoke to reception who said someone would contact me - nothing. Last bottle of Prosecco ordered Sat no more in hotel.phone to bar/restaurant constantly engaged. Emailed hotel with issues, no response after 4 days! Unimpressed

We came to celebrate my sister's 50th bday.I can honestly say we had the best experience , nothing was to much trouble .The staff were friendly, warm and very welcoming , excellent service and would highly recommend the hotel and hope to visit again .

Overall generally good. Easy check in lovely room and lot of facilities. However due to a wedding in the old hall it seemed like the there was not enough dining facilities for the rest of the guests. The remaining dining area felt like a cafe than a restaraunt. It seemed like there was not enough tables to go round. We had a meal deal and given a meal deal menu where as we would have like to chose from the main menu and perhaps pay towards the meals that were not included. Having said that the food was very good.

Reception staff were very good and friendly. There seemed plenty of staff working at wedding event so glasses were being collected. The rooms/corridors seemed fairly well sound proofed from the music. Plenty of parking. Instructions sent out to find the venue were useful. Flowers in hanging baskets were dead, pieces of wood in the fountain, windows and skirting board in need of some repair. An amazing looking venue but needs to be kept up to date.

« Nice breakfast no aircon rude night manager »

The breakfast and staff in the day time were excellent. We were in the area for a wedding and was originally going to stay in a cheaper hotel but because by girlfriend fell pregnant wanted to stay somewhere a bit nicer. During the heatwave we did not get any sleep as was too hot with no aircon. Kind I would of thought for price of hotel they might of offered a pregnant woman a fan at least but they said they didn't have any and I didn't push the matter. I locked my key in the room and the night manger was quite short with me having to let me in my room. Overall nice hotel tho properly nicer to stay in the winter. Thanks

« Fantastic staff, lovely food, great all round »

Every member of staff was really friendly and helpful. We had to alter our booking at the last minute due to one of our group having a family emergency. The staff were so helpful and accommodating. From cleaners to bar staff, waiters and reception staff everyone was amazing. We had an overnight spa break and will definitely be returning for another. We stayed in an apartment which was perfect for the spa and restaurant. The grounds are lovely to walk around too.
