I reserved 3 rooms with king beds for 2 guest in each room. 2 rooms had Queen bed. 1 queen bed room had no headboard. The 2nd room with a queen bed(full size bed it looked) was highly tiny for 2 grown adults guest and a cracked mirror. The only with a king size bed smelled like urine and had bugs or mosquitoes like things flying all over the room. 2 of those rooms were changed to a different room and we all went on our merry way. If its possible yo avoid this mishaps or mistake it will save the hotel and guests a lot of time of changing rooms and switching and moving.

I had an unsettling experience with your housekeeping staff where a personal item, that while it did not have a huge monetary value it was of importance to me was taken from room. When the housekeeping staff was approached the next day to inquire about my personal item missing from the room, she first lied and said it was found in the garbage, and then continued to lie stating she put it in the garbage at the hotel and therefore not retrievable and when pushed to explain how she found it and that it was impossible to have been in the garbage in my room she then asked me to wait while she went to a locked room which appeared to be a maintenance closet and retrieved my personal item to me and asked me not to report the incident to management. Of course I have reported the incident and I am not at all happy with the response I have received from the Royal York Management.

I love the vibe of being downtown Toronto when I visit whether on business or for pleasure. There was one thing that made the experience a little less enjoyable. The water did not totally drain from the pipes in the bathtub (from either a bath or a shower) so the room had a distinct odor to it. I did mention it to the front desk; someone from maintenance did take a look at it and for one evening it seemed the odor was gone but by the next morning that distinct smell was back again. When I checkout I mentioned it to the staff and they did try to see if I could receive a comp breakfast but I was on a timeline. Other than that the staff and the hotel are amazing.

Overall wonderful experience with classic hotels and hospitable staff. Hotel accommodations met Fairmont expectations. Breakfast was great. The small restaurant---I believe called "The Library" was a cozy experience. Great way to experience downtown Toronto.

« Much better once I was moved to a quieter room due to elevator noise. »

The first night of stay I was put right next to the elevator. You hear hurricane force winds every 20 seconds. That was not acceptable for a five night stay. The staff was great and moved me the next day.

I had no expectation checking in, hotel was booked by my assistant as not too far from our office in Toronto. I have lived in many countries and stayed in many luxury hotels in the past, Accor and non Accor branded hotels including some resorts on small islands. The room kept surprising me with the level of satisfying experience, the attention to details, it keeps coming when you discover details in the room, the minibar, the automated payment so convenient for express checking, the shoe shining box which is very neat, the aromatherapy in shower (first time I see that) One comment is may be explaining what "Gold" is in more details whilst at the same time as I have checked late and I understand that the goal of the checkin desk is to keep it lean as guest want to get to their room ;-) So no real complaint. I did not go for breakfast that was apparently on level 19 as I had an early event, neither did I enjoy the facility, but next time I hope I have a chance to ;-) I ended up thinking that the only comment I could think of was that a heated mirror on the bathroom to prevent it to fog ;-) Yes when down to that level you can conclude that it went pretty well.

« Too expense and rates change by the day. Checking in the second time was a nightmare with a person who was a "trainer"!!! »

It is amazing how rates change from day to day. You need better qualified people at the front desk and more staff there. The service in the Library was so bad that we actually left after a long wait!?? Some staff in the breakfast area appeared unhappy and not interested in us. I know the Hotel is convenient but is overrated in many ways. The rooms were fine and the cleaning staff great! Would not be excited about staying there again nor my girlfriend who also booked in there.

We enjoyed our stay and found the staff, particularly those in the Reign coffee shop on a morning, went above and beyond. The plumbing in the room did seem in desperate need of upgrading however.

I’ve stayed at your hotel for more than 10 times in the last few years, I never had to complain before.
