Staff in all areas of the hotel were polite and gracious. Excellent customer service, concierge service, and Gold level lounge. We come to Toronto for TIFF every year. The Fairmont Royal York is our go to hotel.

Staff was very helpful and polite. Loved that I could leave my luggage after checking out while I attended my meeting. Only issue was accessability. Only stairs to access the main floor. I had a knee injury and it was difficult getting to the main floor from both entrances.

Good experience - renovated areas of the hotel are absolutely beautiful! Only issues related to the closet formation and size in my room as well as the shower experience. Small things such as the shower head and rust. Otherwise, always a treat to stay at the Fairmont.

My check in was delayed by 4.5 hrs with a different reason told to me every hour. My key was deactivated multiple times. I was marked checked out of my second room a day early and had to be moved. Service at the restaurant is dreadful.

We always stay at Royal York when in Toronto. This time there were two things that wasn’t satisfactory. I always ordered the tawse rose for room service. It’s not on the dining menu but they always allowed me to order. I don’t see why not but the lady wouldn’t even budge. The other thing was the remote battery was dying and died by the end of our visit. Also some knobs on cabinets were loose.

Customer service and the hotel were absolutely to the expectation. However, the room furnitures and facilities were really outdated. The room's coffee maker was a very old version of Keurig machine. Most hotels now at least have an Nespresso. But also, the room only had one size of water bottled provided, while the menu in room, was providing more options than what was present.

The room was "upgraded" but no one told me that it was on top of the elevator shaft. It was loud and noisy and filthy. 9-158 There were long (18 inch) dark black hairs all over the bathroom (even on the walls) and I found several on/around the bed. I called and complained and no one cleaned the shower. It was a horrible loud evening in a dirty room and I called to complain. Not what I'd expect from the Fairmont flag. Completely not acceptable.

Our team should have discussed the potential noise disturbance in length during your check-in to allow you an opportunity to request an alternative. Depending on the purpose of our guests' travel the noise will impact some people more than others. I profusely apologize for the lapse in communication. Additionally, I am in the process of following up with our Director of Housekeeping to address the reported concerns with the lapse in attention to detail when cleaning the bathroom and bedroom. In addition to addressing our cleanliness shortfalls, we will determine how a room in this condition was in our available inventory. While the Gold level experience is always lovely there were a few glitches with the one room. Housekeeping did not remove lunch dishes, nor did they restock Kleenex or toilet paper so we had to call down when we got back late in the evening to get that. Waited 30 minutes for the items and the attendant on the phone was not the usual positive experience. AC fan in the bedroom was not working.

First impressions are wonderful, the building is magnificent, especially the lobby area with the Art Deco styling and this was our first time in Toronto. However, checking in was not great, our request for a high floor was initially ignored and we were given a room on the second floor right next to the lift and the noise from that is astonishing. We went straight back to Reception and asked to be moved on the basis that we are light sleepers and wouldn’t have got a minutes sleep with the lifts going all night long; we also pointed out our high floor request, which was finally honoured. The room we needed up in on the 11th floor was nice, comfortable, a little small but okay for three nights. Equally disappointingly, the Library bar was shut on our second night, no reason given but the whole area was cordoned off all day for an event, leaving only the lobby area for a drink, which was very busy and very noisy and not to our taste. The problem was that we had spent the previous ten days in the Fairmont MacDonald hotel in Edmonton and that, although not as grand an hotel, was a much more enjoyable experience and we spent some nice evenings in their Library bar, so to be excluded in Toronto was a big disappointment. The staff we encountered, especially the bell hops out front, were all very nice and welcoming but bigger is not necessarily better and the Edmonton experience was far better. We want to return to Toronto but, at this moment, I can’t honestly say we will be returning to the Royal York, whereas, if we go back to Edmonton, we will probably return to the MacDonald.

The hotel was beautiful, outside and inside. I arrived in my room an unfortunately had an uninvited (and dead) visitor. There was a dead spider on the top of my sheets, laying right in plain sight (very irritating but I'm also happy it was't under the covers). There was hair in my tub but after the maid service came the first morning, everything was great.
