Ok. I found the concierge desk greatly under-impressive Received four (4) different info pieces from concierge desk which were wrong/invalid. Wasn’t aware that Blue Line was partially shut down on a Sunday. Gave incorrect directions to local restaurant, unaware that Uber & Lyft were planning to strike on 5/8/19 -was all over CHI news. Not sure where certain meeting rooms were...sent to wrong floor...

Every employee I interacted with were very kind and helpful. However, the hotel over all was dirty and old. It felt unclean and for this reason, I would likely not stay here again unless they updated it: new carpets, new paint, new grout in the bathrooms, etc.

« The staff was friendly, and the public spaces were nice, but my room seemed a bit "tired." »

I was not in the hotel much. I did not dine in the hotel. I did use the workout facility which was nice. My hotel room just seemed in need of an update. The drapes were frayed. The decor and furniture did not seem fresh.

Everyone was very professional and polite. The young lady at the Gold room was exceptional. So kind, professional and authentic. She even volunteered to help me to my room. I’ve had challenges walking and she noticed and wanted to help me. That’s going above and beyond the call of duty.

Over all it was ok. Fairmont Chicago is not maintained to the same standards as I experience at the Fairmont San Francisco or the Fairmont in Vancouver near Canada Place. Those are more of a Fairmont standard. Hopefully you will be doing some upgrades in the near future. Furniture in rooms is worn. Meeting room carpeting is "thread bare" on many of the steps. I had to call Housekeeping to clean my room a couple of times -- this was after 630pm. Bathroom was not fully functional. My first room assignment was to a room that was already occupied. Stuff like that......

I would like to express my extreme displeasure with my treatment this morning when I had two cups of coffee in the Fairmont Gold room. When the two gentlemen greeted me and informed that I could sit with my sister and a cup of coffee they said it would NOT be a problem. After sitting for about 30 minutes Tiphani came and “confirmed” our name and room numbers after it had already been given. It was not only embarrassing and but extremely uncomfortable. In addition I now see that I was charge $10.26 for my coffee. I would expect much more from an establishment such as the Fairmont. My family occupied several rooms at this hotel including room 3601, I would not consider returning if this is the “norm” at the Fairmont. By the way, I never received the New York Times that was promised at my initial check in.

Hotel staff at front desk was ..ok... quoted policy on check in time. We arrived at 1:00pm for our conference and room was not ready. We were told for $40 we could get a higher floor and check in now... is this your policy? Clean the top rooms 1st. I understand the "policy" of a 3pm check in but we brought hundreds of people to your hotel and we had to get ready to present that Sunday afternoon.

My experience was satisfactory, but I was under-impressed for a luxury hotel brand. I had quite a few bugs in my room which was odd considering I was many floors above the entrance and did not have any ability to open my windows. The room was comfortable as was the bed. The windows did not have any sort of blackening effect, so the apartment across the street could easily see everything going on within the room. Not a big issue, but a bummer to have to close the drapes at night. I would have liked the ability to have a view of the city without feeling like I was in a fishbowl. The in-room snacks were egregiously expensive. Amenities-wise the hotel common spaces were clean and updated. It was an all-around satisfactory stay, but nothing memorable. I wouldn't be racing to book a room in the future.

Everything is good except the last day when checking out. The conference rate is $229 per night, while the hotel charged $259 per night on my and my colleagues' rooms. Luckily one of my colleagues noticed this problem and argued with the front desk, then they helped to lower the room rate.

Service was excellent. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. The bellmen were very helpful. The concierge was extremely knowledgeable about the city and helpful, providing recommendations on sights to see & how to get there. The restaurant and bar staff engaging and friendly. I needed change for a $20 so I had money for tips for the bellman and a gentleman from the restaurant gave me change from his wallet! My room was clean and comfortable and had a beautiful view. I was there for a conference. The meeting rooms were comfortable and the food was delicious. I'll be back!

Our room smelled of smoke and I alerted the front desk. They offered to send someone up to investigate. We needed to call the front desk a second time to have the issue resolved. We were moved to a different room and our request to be closer to the floor of the conference I was attending was also accommodated.
