We stayed from Monday through Thursday. I got violently ill on Tuesday night and my son got violently ill on Thursday morning. My hunch is that someone in the JPL kitchen was ill. I would have liked more follow up and communication around an illness (or food poisoning - possibly the mayo? as I had a chicken club before I got sick and my son had a grilled cheese before he got sick) spreading around the resort as I heard from other people that several others were also violently ill, including an elderly man who was taken to the hospital. Good stuff: people at golf clubhouse were amazing - even drove out with bug spray for us when we couldn't finish twilight golf round. cooking lesson was incredible. check in was great. 'sick' supplies being brought to our room upon request (crackers, ginger ale, gloves, bags, extra duvet, heater). accommodation for a late check out as my son was too ill to leave the room and travel by car. Bad stuff: the illness and lack of follow through and communication. the servers in the emerald lounge almost always got the food wrong (if we said no tomatoes; it came with tomatoes/ if we said steak medium it came super well done; if we said egg white omelette style; it came scrambled, etc. etc.)

« Overpriced for the quality of the rooms »

The facility is located in a nice location ... very scenic. However, the quality of the actual "cabins" was deplorable. The wood frames of the windows in our room that opened were rotted. Looking out the balcony, I could see that the rain gutters were clogged with pine needles. It was raining when we arrived. This might explain why there was a large waterfall flowing down over the base of the staircase we had to use to get to our room. I got soaked and our luggage got very wet. I'd be willing to bet that the rain gutter on this side of the building was likewise clogged with pine needles. Two of our party have mobility issues. No one mentioned when we checked in that there was a cart that could be used by hotel employees to drive us to the room or pick us up to bring us to the lodge for supper. We found about these carts only be seeing others use them. The room was hot. Even with both windows open and both doors opened so that the screen doors could provide ventilation, the room was hot. There was a ceiling fan, but it was set up to pull air up, not push it down for cooling. There was also a portable fan, but it was insufficient to cool the room. For the price I paid, I expect a facility that is in top shape, and a room that is comfortable to sleep in.

« One step above a chicken coop »

Horrible !! Although you gave me your last room I was charged FULL FARE for a room with no working toilet, a dirty bathroom, brown molded grout, no ice machine , chipped and peeling wood, no ac, no parking without a fight by the room, overly worn room one step above a Ramada inn. The maligne lodge had more going for it at 192 a day. That FAIRMONT HOTEL JASPER WAS A CAMP GROUND ANS WORTH 100 a night for the crappy conditions and I am furious I paid so much and was not warned it was their worst room and paid almost 800. THIS WAS NOT A FAIRMONT I WANT A REFUND !!!

« We truly enjoyed the tranquility and beautiful surroundings at the JPL. »

In our many trips to the JPL, we never stayed at the estate cabins which we enjoyed, much to our surprise. We love the wild life roaming nearby especially the geese. Staff was friendly and nice (though a little overly strict at the biking station from time to time). We spent a lot time at the Emerald lounge (twice a day) and like the ambiance there. We will definitely be back next year in July/August - see you then. Thank you for a wonderful time.

« the worst room value for the money in my 45 years of personal and business travel. »

I am a long time Presidents Club member, traveled extensively for 45 years and have stayed at most Fairmont properties. My room was tiny, dated, and dingy. There was a mouse in the room during my whole three day stay. it or they ate all of my wife's almonds. This room was not worth $200 let alone $900. I asked guest services for another room or upgrade. They were fully booked and would not accommodate me. I lost my temper with them. In the end, they comped me 50% on two nights. I did not ask for money. I wanted a pleasant experience. The room that my children stayed in was fine. My wife and I came away bitterly disappointed. I rely on the "Fairmont" brand. It is why I booked at the high price, expecting good value for the money. I cannot recommend the hotel and would go so far as to discourage others from booking.

« Great resort, but some minors »

Golf was super, very nice staff, rated as 10. Steakhouse was disappointing. Not only the looks (personal issue), but my meat was cold and of poor quality (veal chop is something I always eat in the US/Canada because you cant get it in Holland). Bike rent: the guy did not know how to put air in a tire, and the bikes need maintenance, rate as 3.

« Employee “Spencer” made our stay fantastic. »

My brother and his fiancée were married at the Jasper Fairmont on July 27th, 2019. My wife, kids and I traveled from California to attend the wedding. Everything was wonderful. However, my father is 71 and very ill. He has a tough time getting around and often needs help. He becomes very anxious and that affects his breathing. On Friday night I was having trouble getting him back to his room. Spencer came along and helped us. Spencer checked in on us several times that evening and catered to our every need. He was a life saver. Spencer overheard how my dad and I loved to share a glass of good whiskey together in the evening if my dad was up to it. The next day Spencer provided us a bottle of his favorite whiskey with a hand written note wishing us the best and hoping my dad and I would have a chance to share a glass on this momentous occasion of my brothers wedding. We did and we toasted to Spencer. You have a great ambassador employed with you. Please pass along our gratitude to Spencer. Thank you, Bronic G.

We have wanted to stay here for 25 years as we never made it up to Jasper when we were in Banff in 1994. We were thrilled to have one of the only 16 rooms in the Main Building with a lovely lakefront view. This room was outrageously expensive at about $1,000 CAD per night with all fees and taxes included. Biggest complaint is the room was very warm for 2 of our 3 nights with only a small table top fan to circulate the air from the two open windows with screens. The patio door did not have screens so could not be left open due to the evening mosquitoes. We loved the old school feel of the lodge main lobby and the lake/grounds were lovely. But we really don’t use most of the “resort” aspects on a nature vacation like this one. We did enjoy our stay and both restaurants were actually quite good for hotel fare. But Fairmont/Le Accor really needs to step up renovations or charge less $ as the rooms (and lack of A/C) do not merit the price tag.
