Overall our stay was very enjoyable. Food was amazing and the ambiance was unforgettable. Missing touch was the fact that we had to call down for dog bowls and crate to be brought to our room even though we booked for our dogs to stay with us at the time of reservation. Room was a bit tired too - rug and couch had stains on it. I know they are renovating though so that will be rectified.

« Site and facilities were amazing, the food was very bad and overpriced. »

My wife and I travelled there from Montreal to celebrate our 15th anniversary. The room was beautiful and rustic, the facilities were great, and the staff courteous. However, I was *extremely* disappointed in the quality of the food. Very little creativity, and way overpriced. I'm not averse to spending for a good meal, but this was emphatically not that. We ate 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, and 1 dinner at the hotel. The breakfasts were fine, but the two other meals were very disappointing. Given this, I do not expect that we will be returning to the hotel, or that we will recommend it positively to other people.

Good overall experience but, given the price of the rooms, Le Chateau needs to pull up its socks in a few areas. We stayed in a renovated room...it was nice, bathroom was well done...some not so positives: - hardware for old drapes left on window frames - paint smears on some beams and fire sprinkler heads in ceiling - hairs left in shower stall from previous guest - hair left-on bed when made up after the first night - dirty wine glasses left in room; had to call to front desk to get clean dishes - with a hotel that is trying to promote itself as luxury, i would have expected in floor heating in the bathroom...it was lovely to look at but, very cold - i haven’t seen an alarm clock in a room for a long time...when we stayed at the drake Devonshire...they had a wireless speaker...that would be something i expect for a luxury room - carpets in hallways were not vacuumed the entire time we were there! Unacceptable! - rustic chairs in the lobby are perfect but, need to be redone...chips out of the paint - some chips out of some logs in main lobby - carpet near bar in main lobby has a visible seam and needs to be repaired/replaced - food and service i. The restaurant aux chanitroles were both excellent...we had excellent meals both nights...different server and both were excellent. - we ordered room service one morning...came on time and was of a superior quality...very good!

Overall my experience staying at the Fairmont Montebello was positive. The hotel was very clean, the food while overpriced was very good, and the staff were pleasant and welcoming. The only negative experience I had while staying here, was that one day while at the pool, a tour group of about fifteen people came into the pool area and took pictures. It made me uncomfortable, and felt inappropriate. I was very surprised that the staff on hand allowed this to happen.

The great room was a very inviting place. Loved the central fireplace and the amenities surrounding it. The guest room was very comfortable. The setting on the Ottawa River was beautiful and I enjoyed the walk along the trails.

« Terrific »

Wonderful enchanting place. The pool was particularly a hit with our kids. The room service was not good, however. We called twice and nobody returned our call. We ended up having to go downstairs to the restaurant to order and they then brought up food to our room. But by then our kids were very cranky. And there was nowhere to buy small food (fruit, pastries, e.g.) in the hotel.

« wonderful service but did not sleep well in historical building »

The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful--service was outstanding. Unfortunately, we were kept awake by the guests above us walking (for over an hour! after midnight!) on the creaky floors above our room. Because I could not sleep well, I would not stay here again.

The staff on our arrival where all courteous and helpful. Our room was not the most modern but was somewhat like a ships cabin with a mast going through it. I am a sailor. I wanted to watch a World cup of rugby match at 4am. The staff organised it with a very bright young night watch man letting the 3 of us into the bistro. Food was good and service excellent in the bistro and the dining room.

My sister and I booked 2 nights for a bit of a get-away and chance to spend some quality time together. It was everything we could ask for and more. We did not have time to do everything, but hope to come back. There is nothing I could suggest to improve our stay. We had a wonderful time.
