Great room and facilities. Lovely grounds. Super cordial staff. Concierge had already left when we arrived at about 5 - it would have been nice to get some info/guidance re: the area. Forgot what was included in the package we had bought - ie breakfast was included - we almost got room service! Maybe some form of reminder of the details of your package upon check-in?

« The hotel engineering was amazing to see and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. »

Our stay was very good. The facilities and grounds were beautiful. The service was friendly and helpful. However, the parking lot was a huge area of concern and disappointment. When staying at a luxury hotel, all areas are expected to be maintained to a high standard. The parking lot has been clearly neglected. It had large pot holes, large cracks and uneven areas that were a concern to drive on and particularly to walk on.

« Ok. Grounds were nice but had issues with stay. »

Stay was ok. Rooms small but because of hotel structure felt this was how they were. Did the bistro one night for dinner and meal was incredibly slow. As well there were flies flying all over our dinner. The waiter apologized and said he advised his manager but that still didn’t change the fact that we were trying to have a nice dinner and had flies flying everywhere. The heater of the pool was also broken the whole time during our stay.

The grounds are beautiful, but the hotel generally needs a lot of updating. Customer service is good but seems to run against deficiencies to fix them. Lastly, the food is disgusting at best and overpriced for nothing.

While we enjoyed the use of the bikes,hiking trails and pool we were very disappointed in the room (338), which is desperate for an update. Housekeeping on Sunday Aug11 was negligible. The pillows we had slept on still looked like we had slept on them and the bed was barely put back together. The decorator pillow was still on the floor. No dusting or wiping in the room had been done and lint was still on the bathroom floor. At time of booking I was asked if there was an occasion and the response was that it was our 45th wedding anniversary When booking the restaurants again that question was posed with the same answer given. However there was no acknowledgement of that special occasion. On a positive note we found staff members very friendly and helpful.

« Fantastic experience »

We have stayed at a few Accordhotels but this was our first experience at the Montebello. We truly enjoyed our stay and the staff was super friendly and helpful. My one issue was that the hostess in the main restaurant should separate people with children with those with no children. We constantly had children run passed our table during dinner. I do have to compliment the cuisine at Montebello, every meal was an experience.

« My return to this property was somewhat disappointing. »

Overall, we had a lovely stay at this property. I'd returned after 3 years, and was somewhat dismayed by the changes I'd noticed. Particularly, the horse stables and the opportunity to go horseback riding was gone. A staff member explained that the property had new owners that didn't like horses. Seriously?? I'd have to wonder how many of your loyal customers DO like horses and like myself, are disappointed to see they've been removed. Additionally, while we realize that this property is a 5 star luxury resort with pricing that reflects this, it would be nice to get a free cup of coffee/tea each morning. And yes, we did have a coffee maker and kettle, coffee and tea in the room, but espresso sized cups don't quite provide that early morning wake up most need. Having to make 5 espresso cups of coffee, instead of being provided a decent sized cup of hot coffee is rather annoying to say the least. And yes.. coffee and tea are also available in your boutique at a large fee of $6/day for two. If we both want three cups of coffee/tea in the morning.. $18/day!! For the price of accommodations and all the add ons.. throw in freshly brewed coffee/tea stands at the end of each wing.

« Checkin was very disappointing »

We arrived at the resort at 3:45pm and went in to check in. We were told that checkin was not until 4:00pm. I had previously checked in online stating that we would be there between 3 and 4 pm. The staff suggested that we take a seat in the lobby, leave our luggage with the concierge and we would get called shortly. At 4:45pm (an hour later), I inquired at the front desk again and she mentioned that we would be called shortly and that she would come to us directly. We noticed that 15 mins later she left for the day. It is after 5pm when I approached the front desk again to be told that our room still wasn't ready but she would upgrade us so we could finally get a room assigned. It was close to 1.5 hrs to get a room. If checkin is at 4 pm and rooms are available, why did we not get offered a room sooner? The staff also never approached us to give us an update and I had to be the one to constantly check in at the front desk. After a 6 hour drive to get to the resort, it was a disappointing start to our vacation.

« Short escapade »

Great place, tons of activities. Unlucky weather. Not sure the extra cost for the view is worth it but the renovated room was otherwise perfect. Not sure i would take the included dinner. I think the guests without the meal (and non included gratuities) had better services, which was a bit disappointing. Maybe the weather (and the cancelled bbq) increased the workload of the waiting staff. Am willing to give it another try.
