« Children’s holiday camp. Noisy rooms, thin walls. Very disappointing for such an iconic landmark. »

Disappointing to say the least. Reserved for three nights and checked out after two. .Changed rooms after first night due to rattling windows keeping you awake. The room not serviced correctly, no bathrobes, no shampoo or shower gels or soap. Noisy children running up and down corridor. Second night (in another so called quieter room) was a disaster, we were kept awake most of the night with noisy families on BOTH sides. Decided to check out to try and get some sleep. The Fairmont - San Francisco is like a holiday camp for noisy kids, totally uncontrolled. My wife was almost knocked over by children playing in the foyer and revolving entrance doors. The whole stay was a bad experience.

« Excellent week long stay in San Francisco »

Wonderful. Service is always impecable and extremely attentive. The facilities are wonderful, nicely refurbished rooms and suites, wonderful breakfast (say thank you to Nazim), great fitness facility, the best I've ever seen in a hotel, and last but not least perfect location away from the hustle and bustle but only a short walk to Union Square. Perfection!

The hotel is beautiful and it was our first time staying at the Fairmont San Francisco. We booked our room through Hotel Tonight and asked for a upgrade when we first arrived. The woman at the front desk told us she would look for a better room and she began to browse through the computer and told us she found a upgrade for our us. When we walked into our room and opened the window we had a view of the interior of the roof, It felt like we were in a box. I told my husband this is not a upgrade. We shared with the Fairmont staff our experience upon check out and let them know for our first experience at this location it was not the best. We would have liked the option of choosing our room and did not know that purchasing rooms through a outside party means that you a get the less desirable room because normally we go straight through the hotel website and I would have selected the rooms directly through the Fairmont website if I had known we would have the room we had. Additionally, we did speak with the manager the next day and she waived our additional hotel fees. We almost scratched this hotel off the list because of the room but we would like to give it another try with better views.

« Wonderful hotel in perfect position and the double Queen room was extremely spacious »

We stayed 3 nights in s double Queen with rollaway, as an extended family group. The room was of a very high standard and plenty large enough for the 5 of us. We enjoyed a night at the Hotels Tonga restaurant and light breakfast at the hotels cafe. The position was great for getting around being close to China town and numerous transportation opportunities including Cable Cars! Staff were very helpful and friendly.

« Very crowded »

When I arrived to the Fairmount the room was still not ready. I was told I would be sent a text message when it was. We waited til 4pm never received a text message. I finally walked up to Check in and there was a very long line. I had to wait. Turns out the room was still not ready so They finally assigned us another room. We never received turn down service. We called housekeeping to get the sofabed prepared for the night. No one called. My son was very cold all night long since there were no blankets.

« Beautiful Hotel »

Everything was as expected from a Fairmont Hotel...One complaint...The dining room was always freezing! Everyday...we either had breakfast or dinner in the dining room and whether it was cold and foggy outside or a bit sunny with clouds, the air conditioning was on:( We asked to have it turned off a few times but I'm not sure it was...So uncomfortable to wear a jacket to enjoy a meal but that's what we did daily. Otherwise, rooms were cleaned very well, front desk staff was very nice and bell desk was extremely on point...One last important point...If you stay in the proper hotel and not the tower, I would suggest a non connecting room as the connecting rooms are very loud and you may be disturbed.

« Not worth the money »

Not worth the money: 1. Bathroom amenity refill was occasionally forgotten. 2. Slow response to requests: it took 40 minutes and 2 calls to deliver slippers to my room. 3. Not detail oriented: I ordered a Non-alcoholic(particularly confirm with the waiter) mojito, but I was still served with an alcoholic one. 4.Did not give Accor Club points for Q2 promotion rate. While under the same rate I booked for Pullman San Francisco Bay and Sofitel Los Angeles, I earned credits from both of them. And there isn't any rule in Accor Club that members can not get the points for promotion rate. I was astonished when I heard this reason since I have booked many times for promotion rate, and each time I got the credits successfully.

« Absolutely the Finest Most Beautiful Hotel I have ever seen or stayed in during my world travels. »

My third stay since 1985 and every area of this Magnificent Hotel is still just as Beautiful and Perfect as it was more than 30 years ago. Every member of the staff was very helpful, friendly, couteous, and very professional. The garage area is immaculate with the attendants right there to deliver your car to you at a moments notice. "The Tonga Room" is a superb dining experience with exciting live entertainment while guests enjoy tasty "South Pacific Islander" cuisine with exotic Tiki drinks. My guest room was amazingly clean, sparkling and fresh in every area. Nothing less than Perfect.

« I love the Fairmont »

This is my 'go to' place to stay in San Francisco. There is a great vintage feel to the hotel, but they have all the modern comforts

« Clean, comfortable room. »

Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable but the lighting was a bit marginal. The bathroom was well equipped with towels and amenities. The restaurant had a rather limited menu, but the service was very good. Main gripe: A 15% 'gratuity' added to the breakfast bill. A gratuity is something that is 'given willingly'. Putting it automatically on the bill makes it a service charge, not a gratuity. Guests should be allowed to decide whether or not and how much of a gratuity to leave.

« My stay »

View was lovely and building is very elegant. Restaurant and Tiki Bar were incredible. Loved the separate shower and bath tub. Only issues I had were the gym wasn't part of the stay, but I understand it is it's own entity that is attached to the hotel. Also the wifi not being included and only way to remote my device onto the tv was with wifi was a bit disappointing. Other than that it was great.

« Wonderful stay »

The hotel was gorgeous, everything was very clean, great location, friendly staff. The only thing that did bother me was the fact that even after spending so much on the room you had to pay additional for WiFi.

« Great room conditions but just okay front desk service »

Overall, the quality of hotel was great. Our family liked the room condition in the new tower room and amenities. However, during the check-in, we had some conflict with the employee who didn't really helped in resolving the issue of making the payment with the corporate card. Eventually, we were kind of forced to pay with the other corporate card in which results really bad first-impression of the hotel.

« Breakfast and alcatraz tour »

Hello, In general, beautiful hotel and very clean. Great jobs. However, Monica, who has helped me booked the hop on hop off tour with Alcatraz, was very nice but we wondered why we had to pay cash $450cash for three people for the tickets. Too expensive! My cousin, she was there the same week and only paid $30-$35 for her ticket. But of course it s only for the Alcatraz tour only but still it shouldn't be so much of a difference. Secondly, the hostesses lady at the restaurant told us that the buffet is for cold stuff only after we told her that we wanted the buffet in the beginning. When we tried to ask the waiter about that but he didnt seem to understand us. So we ended up ordering something else individually instead then we found out the buffet also has those hot stuff but we paid more but less vAriety.

Connie D. H. Families - 08/07/2019 AccorHotels certified review

My stay at the Fairmont was very nice; paying extra for the Bay view was definitely worth it. However, there is an issue about which I am not happy. In March of this year, my 25-year-old son Jordan de H. booked a room at the Fairmont SF through (I believe that’s the site he used); he lives in San Francisco. For some inexplicable reason, the manager of the hotel accused him of using a fake ID (he had his Florida drivers license) and a fraudulent credit card. She told him to get out, or she was calling the police; he went to the Ritz-Carlton. I wish he had called me at the time; I would have told him to wait for the police. Had I realized the Fairmont was where this occurred (my son told me about this just after it happened, but I forgot which hotel was involved), I never would have stayed there. While I was there visiting him June 23-27, he reminded me of the incident, and we spoke to a night manager on June 26 about this, and I spoke to a receptionist as I checked out the next day when I had heard nothing from the night manager. All I was told was that the booking site Jordan used often creates fraud situations for the hotel and that an employee involved in his check-in has a history of mishandling things. My son had HIS license and credit card, and the way he was treated was outrageous and upsetting. And now your hotel has added insult to injury by refusing to follow up and explain these actions as promised. It’s been 10 days since I asked about this, and though I was assured someone would be in touch, I see no emails from the Fairmont, aside from a request for a customer survey. Though the Fairmont SF is beautiful (as is the Fairmont Lake Louise, where I have stayed as well), the treatment of my son and the lack of follow up on my request leaves me with a very low opinion of your hotels. A business with integrity would admit they were wrong and apologize, not ignore the client they wronged. Connie de H. 40…
