I sent an email to the front desk on this already. I am a Platinum Accor member and have spent over $15,000 thus far at the Fairmont Pacific Rim. What I don’t like is not being told of additional fees at the spa - when all my other stays included access. And not to mention the policy went into effect months ago but didn’t effect me until this stay. I book rolls every 2 weeks - usually 2 at a time - but this is still incredibly upsetting. Instead - someone should have said - Mr A. - as you mentioned interest in the spa and receive 10% off services, we want to let you know of a new policy. Instead - I was blindsided. First - I don’t care about the fee cost - I would have paid it if I had an explanation. Instead - I got a rude receptionist and an aggravating experience. Separately, the staff was overworked. My room service tray sat outside my door for 10 hours and it was never cleaned up after calling. Toilet ran in 1908 (booked Signature Harbor). Won’t be coming back for future stays - the spa experience was the deal breaker. Will be letting Amex Centurion & FHR know as well. Front desk called to apologize - but wasn't handled appropriately at the time. Plenty of 5 star options in VCR - FPR will be off my list for me and my company.

My husband and I booked this hotel for our 5th anniversary based on rave reviews from our co-workers, but we were taken aback by the lack of customer service. The attendant who checked us in appeared to either not want to be at work or not want to deal with us. In comparison, the couple standing next to us (also checking in for their anniversary) seemed to be having the complete opposite interaction - they were met with warmth and hospitality. We asked the attendant a few questions to try and engage further, but we were met with abrupt answers with no eye contact and no engagement. She handed us our card keys, which unfortunately didn't work in the elevator but we were already moving up floors since we were the last ones to move into the elevator and hit the buttons. The room felt fairly standard aside from the view. We usually take a trip to Sparkling Hill for our wedding anniversaries, but opted to stay closer to home as we have a new addition to the family - so when we heard the suggestions and read up on the hotel, we thought it was a good fit. Compared to Sparkling Hill, it was twice the price and half the room. That initial check-in experience put us off from spending a ton of time at the hotel or using the amenities. We had plans to head to the bar after dinner and order room service in the morning to stay in with the view, but instead we opted to go to bed early and check out earlier than planned so that we could go to a nice restaurant for breakfast. Key-cards not working happens, getting stuck in an elevator for a long ride happens, but poor customer service at a hotel that is widely known to be one of the best in Vancouver should not happen. We could have asked for management at the time, but it was our anniversary evening and in the morning we just wanted to leave. It wasn't until this survey came through that I thought we should take the time to share so that this doesn't happen to someone else. While we don’t see ourselves staying here again, we do hope that this will be looked into because that first impression can set the tone for the stay.

The room was well designed. The bed was comfortable. The amenities great. We especially enjoyed the breakfast and canapes. The staff in the gold lounge were kind and considerate. Both concierges in gold lounge were extremely helpful providing recommendations and answering our questions.

From the moment we walked in, our family was in heaven! Without our knowledge or request, we were delighted to find out our room had been upgraded - to a gorgeous, huge suite on the 19th floor. the room and views were STUNNING. it was comfortable, cozy, and immaculately maintained - and kept that way by housecleaning throughout our 5 days. the concierge level was wonderful as well - more breathtaking scenery, delicious foods throughout the day, and extremely pleasant, welcoming, and helpful staff. honestly - we couldn't have been more impressed with everything about this hotel... we have traveled to many different cities and stayed at many luxury hotels - and this was absolutely our favorite from start to finish. thank you to everyone who helped make our family's visit to Vancouver unforgettable!!! Our rooms were gorgeous and spacious. The food was superb, as was the service. The location -- near to the wharf (Canada Place) but also an easy walk to the Seawall and Stanley Park -- was perfect for our touring and exercising needs. This was a first class hotel experience, through and through.

Fairmont Pac-Rim has a lot going for it - fantastic location, nice rooms with appealing decor, very well-trained staff with the right attitude, free quality bikes for touring around, and a lively lobby scene with live music. And for these reasons, we will return. However, our experience was marred by the a number of issues. The most aggravating was not being given the room that we paid for upon initial check-in. This now seems to be standard industry practice - hotel tiers prices based on room size and features, then tries to give you a room with inferior features to what your reservation specified. I have had this experience with each of my last 3 hotel visits - with two of those being in Canada. Each time, I insisted on receiving the room reserved, and each time staff complied. But, I should not have to trot all my stuff up to a room multiple times before settling into what was actually booked. Other issues: 1) Housekeeping did not begin cleaning our room after the first night's stay until 4:45pm! That should never happen unless the guest never leaves the room - it indicates under-staffing of housekeeping. 2) The window was filthy, detracting from our view. 3) The desk chair had so little padding that it was extremely uncomfortable to sit in for any length of time. 4) The closet for hanging up shirts and coats is very inconveniently located.

disappointed that my booking for a king bed was changed to a twin bed upon arrival. After mentioning at check-out the parking charge was waived as a gesture of good will - yet its not a great guest experience. Also parking charges should be made clear to guests upon arrival.

We generally enjoyed our stay. Housekeeping was great as well as overall amenities. On our arrival, our room was not ready. The reception asked if I could wait for 20 minutes. The time was 3:25pm when checking in. I was not pleased of this. They offered an available room at a different floor. I accepted this given we had been driving for three hours with a one year old that needed to rest. When we arrived at the room, we noticed we no longer had the view we had paid extra for. This was not explained this was the case at check in, and frankly disappointing during our stay. On our second day of five I requested our sheer curtains to be fixed as they were bunching at the center, and therefore our privacy was compromised, especially given the rooms looking across from the courtyard. I suggested the fix would be steaming them. A service team came and said they fixed our curtains. They were not fixed and the steaming did not occur. On the fourth day of our stay after a second complaint, a service team arrived and this time finally fixed the issue of the sheer curtains by having them steamed. Additionally the box springs of the beds are quite noisy. They make a friction noise that cause a lot of sound when laying down or leaving the bed. Unacceptable given the rate charged for each evening. The tub did not drain easily. One has to hold the lever up for it to properly drain. This experience will cause us to no longer pursue being guests at the Fairmont properties. We have much better stays with the four seasons as an equivalent property type.
