Located on the water’s edge, the hotel is beautiful, clean and the staff friendly and reliable. We had easy walks to great shopping, dining, China Town and transportation when needed. We would definitely return to this great location.

I like the Fairmont brand and have stayed in many of your properties. I was excited to stay at the Empress for the first time. There were two main issues with our stay. First, there was a rip in the upholstery on our sofa bed, clearly visible when the sofa was made up. Despite the twice daily sofa bed attention (thank you) nobody addressed this during our stay. It is not really at a Fairmont level of excellence to have ripped upholstery in a hotel room. The second issue was the lack of vegetarian fine dining options. We were planing to have dinner in your restaurant. Imagine our surprise when we found only one vegetarian option on the menu. We discussed this with your host and he let us know that he would be happy to order from the in room dining menu for us but he couldn't guarantee when it would arrive (!). Again, this was not really at a Fairmont level of excellence. And in 2019, I would expect at least one vegetarian/vegan modifiable option (delicious enough to tempt carnivores) in each menu category.

The hotel is right on the inner harhour with absolutely beautiful gardens to welcome you. Staff were courteous and friendly and the hotel itself, extremely well appointed. The lobby is a definite WOW and the guest rooms extremely well appointed. The in room service was excellent.

We came with high expectations and were not let down. Only negative is the air conditioner unit is at floor level right next to the bed and was noisy enough to disturb and prevent a proper restful sleep. Would expect and magnificent establishment such as ‘The Empress’ to have whisper quiet air conditioning.

I have personally stayed at your hotel a few times in the past and have always had a wonderful experience. This was, however, the first trip for our Family and it was an amazing experience for them. Your staff is always extremely helpful and accommodating. The spa was a breath of fresh air and a relaxing experience. The restaurants and bars were top tier, always service the best dining and drinks.

Our experience was wonderful from check in to check out. We come to Victoria every summer and The Empress is our go-to hotel. We especially enjoy the Gold Floor and all the amenities that come with it. The breakfast buffet, evening hors d'oeuvres and wine bar selection is outstanding. Our room was quiet, spacious and clean with a very attentive housekeeping team. We will be back for sue!

« Disappointing, living off location »

I recently booked two rooms at the Fairmont Empress through. I am again disappointed by the Fairmont experience. Your team failed to oblige the extras in my booking without a massive headache at checkout. We were not offered or granted an upgrade. We had booked deluxe harbor view rooms and they are far from deluxe. The one window in our room offered a tiny view of the harbor if you craned your neck from the one chair in the room. We were charged for breakfast (included in package), and not granted the $25 food and beverage credit.....we were forced into a complicated and messy checkout process that required me to call the hotel twice within an hour of leaving due to their mix up in posting credits.

I love the property but did not feel overly welcome. I stay in Fairmont Hotels quite often (I have been Platinum President's Club for quite a few years) and this is an absolutely beautiful property but the staff for the most part were cold.

Stay was amazing (as usual) but a few questions (like whether there was a coffee shop or ATM were nearby) were answered incorrectly (they said no but both were in the same building). Breakfast is a challenge. We didn't do room service the first morning and there was no room at the restaurant. We called for coffee (as instructed) but we're never called back.

Both my wife and I were treated very respectfully and made to feel at home. Loved the K9 ambasador dog Winston. The gold lounge was great, we would always sit out on the balcony during the snack time and watch the beautiful sunsets (perfect way to end the day).

This room was smaller than expected, no place to put your clothes and the bathroom was inadequate. My sister and I had to remove our toiletries after each use so the other one could use the bathroom.
