We really enjoyed our stay at your hotel. Unfortunately the smoke detector went off (several times) for no apparent reason at 12:20 Monday morning. The hotel operator did not answer so I had to go to the lobby for assistance.

We enjoyed our stay from beginning to end. Beautiful surroundings. Beautiful view. Excellent friendly staff. Excellent food. The gold level was spot on with everything. My only complaint is that I was told the points I had collected from previous stays at the Queen Elizabeth and the Frontenac had expired under the new plan...I knew they weren’t sufficient for a stay, but i booked at the Empress thinking I might be entitled to at least some small perk during my stay. Fortunately, the size suite I needed was on the gold level which had great staff and amenities. You should review this policy, as I don’t think it is really fair to the people who have shown loyalty to your brand but don’t take multiple and frequent trips.

One of the biggest reasons we come to the Fairmont Empress is the people! Yes we have a Fairmont Gold harbor view room and are able to use the wonderful lounge, but it truly the staff that makes it even more memorable. Duane Lachance has hired an exceptional staff for the operating of the "hotel within the hotel". We so appreciated seeing Lesley, Salam, Alana, Emily, and Laura. We know there are others, but did not really connect with them. We appreciate the respect given and the attention to detail. Mentioning names, remembering preferences, with correct last name pronunciation even are all appreciated. Attention to detail! We also genuinely enjoyed the variety of breakfast items, especially the warm items. We did miss the chocolate covered strawberries though!

The Gold upgrade is definitely worth it! It was our anniversary and we were upgraded to a one room suite- which was extra special! We did not hear any noise from the hall, slept very well. The gold breakfast, happy hour, sweet treats- EXCEPTIONAL!

The hotel itself was beautiful. Our room was advertised as having sweeping views of the harbor and when we checked in there was a small window which looked across the roof of the reception area and had a kitty corner view of the harbor. The room itself was nice, however which is really not a direct fault of the hotel. Both nights there were guests that came in late at night, talking loud and probably drunk which woke us up several times because you can hear everything in the hallway.

It was a very nice stay. We were however a little disappointed with paying the upgrade and having a room with a small window and no view of parliament (the building lit up at night). The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the elegance of the old building was felt and enjoyed. Thank you.

The Empress is a historical must see. However, staying at the hotel leaves something to be desired. The bathroom in the room is so tiny, it is impossible to move around or find a place for toiletries. Also, it was extremely noisy at night. It was also a surprise that there was no restroom facility in the lobby area which required inconveniently returning to one's room. The cuisine and hotel service was excellent.

For the price of the room it was small, no fan in the bathroom, tv did not work, called to get it fixed, no one showed up till the next day. Room service food was uninspired and warmish, our cart of used plates was still outside our door at 8:30 the next morning. Gold experience charges WAY TOO MUCH for alcohol, canapé were meh, the staff there seem preoccupied with certain guests and not with others at all. Dinner at Q was ok but service was slow and forgetful. IMO the menu could use some inspiration. Charges were inaccurate at the end and required me to call and have them adjusted. I’d say overall, the hotel itself is quite beautiful but the staff seem mostly indifferent. What’s with the busses idling outside till 11 at night?

The staff was superb. Special kudos to Flordeliza Miradora from the Concierge desk for arranging dinners and making our stay extra special! Everyone with whom we interacted was friendly, helpful, and gracious. Also, the Royal Suite was unforgettable. A perfect stay!!
