« An overall relaxing experience, just what we needed to wind down after our activity filled Mediterranean cruise. »

Overall, the stay was excellent and as anticipated. The reception desk, bell, and concierge staff were fabulous and the Market buffet and staff/servers were incredible as well. We have young children and everyone was so very nice and attentive to them and our needs. We couldn't have been happier. The room and furnishings were also wonderful. This would have been a solid 10 rating but for two key factors - the outdoor pool water was freezing cold (it would have been great if it could have been heated a little more), and the housekeeping staff kept opening our door without knocking to check if they could clean the room - even when there was a privacy light on and privacy card on the door. Also, there was no turn down service which we would have expected with a hotel of this caliber.

In regards to the pool, Spanish regulations only allows an outdoor pool to be heated using natural resources (sun, wind, etc). « For a brand like fairmont, the services left lot to be desired. »

On the whole as it would be expected from a brand like fairmont, though the people did try to keep us comfortable, little things made it unsavory. While checking in at 13.00 hrs after a long flight , when not choosing to upgrade our room " for a little bit extra" which would have made us get the upgraded room immediately , we were made to wait till 14.00 hrs ( hotel check in time) for getting the room on the pretext of " it is getting ready". This statement was incorrect as their website late night on the previous day was showing availability ()personally checked just to get clarity whether early check in is possible or the hotel is sold out). Also, the washroom used to become and remain extremely wet due to improper installation of shower door and drainage system Cherry on the cake was that the hand towels given to us 01 day was extremely stained and soiled. This is really not expected from a hotel of such stature. Please improve

Overall our experience was very good. The only reason for not being extremely satisfied is there was a large concert in the adjacent property that was extremely noisy for 2 nights. Having said that everything what we would expect from a Fairmont . The service was excellent and the staff were very helpful. Our room was very comfortable, including excellent beds and pillows. The shower and bathroom were also first rate. The hotel is well located. We were able to easily navigate the Metro ( 5 minute walk) to get to the historic district. Before we arrived, the staff and concierge were extremely helpful in answering our questions. We would go back without hesitation.

The hotel and staff are excellent. I do have a small dissatisfaction in regards to housekeeping and replenish room and bathroom items.. Many times I had to chase after housekeeping to bring the complementary water or the shampoo or the soap bar. I am a fairmont member that is why I know what to expect from another member hotel. We had a very short stay so didn't get to experience the whole package but we did enjoy your check in staff and the staff at the Barbados restaurant by the pool. Also a very good meal there and drinks in the Lobby Bar.

« Almost perfect .... but not quite !!!!! »

I booked the trip as a surprise for my husband's 60th birthday, and as Barcelona is our favourite city, then we had to stay at our favourite hotel ! I was given the opportunity to upgrade our room to an executive suite which I did, and that was amazing, the room, the views, cleanliness- perfect. The staff in the bar/restaurant are friendly and the reception staff also. The only negative about our trip was the loss of my husband's laptop which was in the boot of the taxi along with 3 cases. We were warmly greeted on arrival by the door staff and we were told the bell boy would bring our luggage, but there lies the problem, he didn't!!! The laptop was left and now is lost!!! HUGE disappointment and frustration for my husband as it is his business on there and the worry and stress this has caused is horrendous. The hotel management are trying to locate the laptop still but I dont think we will ever see it again. The cost of replacing the laptop and trying to rebuild the company's information is both a financial burden and time consuming. If I can offer a suggestion for the future, PLEASE ASK THE GUESTS how many pieces of luggage they have put in the trunk of the taxi/car/minibus. We will return, but with a heavy heart !

It is a beautiful hotel! My family's stay was quite comfortable-from the receptionist at check-in to the bed and serenity of the room. It was exactly what my family and I needed after a 11 hour overseas flight.

The staff was very courteous and willing to assist with everything. The cleaning staff for the room did a wonderful job, and the cleanliness of the property was amazing. The room decor was abit old fashioned but the bathroom accommodations were excellent. Because the hotel is not centrally located it would have been great if there could have been a shuttle bus going to the city center.

Very nice room Poor service: Very difficult to get ahold of concierge(either on phone, or in person). Room not cleaned one day. No one gave us correct or consistent information on swimming pool. Gym/spa staff very aloof and not helpful. Management didn’t solve any problems.

My experience with Fairmont wasn’t that great. For working for Fairmont in Victoria almost my whole life I was not pleased with the service for the Barcelona location. First, the location is horrible. Second, the breakfast does not have much variety. Third, the cab driver and the Fairmont employee tried to make money off of us by storing our suitcase in taxi car when we didn’t even request for a taxi. I will not be visiting this location again.

I am not one to complain, but the experience was very negative. My simple requests were routinely ignored and the result was a very stressful stay. My emails in the lead up to my stay were not replied to and the preferential polo rate was not applied. I asked for flexibility in the payment method and an email to be sent to my office for a full voucher, this was ignored. A week after my stay I still have a considerable amount of money blocked on my debit card, which would have been avoided had my requests been considered. Overall the bureaucracy of the hotel resulted in a very stressful stay for me.. I would be happy to go into more detail
