« Great location and the bed was comfortable »

The location is perfect - we walked up and down the river daily and nightly. The bed was very comfortable. The shower did not drain and we never said anything but you should look into that - it was cause a real Issue for someone that likes long showers - it floods the floor it is so bad.

Everything started out great. I was given VIP treatment and allowed to check in early, I thought things were going great. I was sent a tray of cookies with what appeared to be a small small "craft" style soda. I ate a cookie and poured the "soda". Upon a second drink I realized I was drinking an alcoholic cocktail. As someone with 6 1/2 years of sobriety I was astonished to realize that I had been sent an unmarked bottle of alcohol. I read the welcome letter and saw no mention that this was a cocktail. No label on the bottle indicated this was alcohol. It being 1:00 in the afternoon I guess I just wasn't thinking that it would be alcohol. I called the concierge and explained the situation, she apologized and asked if she could send something else to my room. While on the phone with her I noticed one of the pillows on my bed had several long black hairs, kind of gross since they do not belong to me. I asked for a pot of coffee explaining that the in room coffee maker wasn't working and for the removal of the hairy pillow. After an hour went by I realized the coffee wasn't going to arrive and no one was coming for the pillow. I went to the front desk, explained the situation, and again the woman was very pleasant and asked if she could do something to make up for these issues. She offered to put $40 onto my room tab so I could order something to eat and drink. Several hours later after our corporate event I returned to my room to find the pillow still on the bed although the coffee maker had been replaced. I put the pillow in the hallway. I got my bill prior to check out and realized the $40 was never put onto my room account. Again I went to the front desk where this was corrected quickly. In summary, your people responded with empathy and offered to fix the situation several times but the follow through was awful. Can I suggest a label indicating the contents contain alcohol when sending something to a room? Not everyone drinks, some people have serious medical conditions, others like me have made a choice not to. Regardless of the reason we should expect the courtesy of being told the contents of something sent to our room. If a pot of coffee is offered then deliver it. if a pillow is going to be removed then remove it. if $40 is going to be put on my account then do it! Great hotel, great people, but the follow through was terrible.

Just because it is in Downtown does not mean high rates. The rate should comply with the quality. Soap for shower and hand washing?? Everything else is just excluded, like the waters in the rooms.

Staff was friendly, hotel clean, lobby smelled fantastic. Housekeeping did not come one day and when I called guest services to ask for fresh towels they didn't even bother with an apology.

Front desk was a little understaffed and my room in wasn't ready when I got there (early check in requested, I wasn't terribly upset) but aside from that I loved my first stay and convention at Swissotel. Great location, clean rooms, good coffee in the room, and good value. Great hotel.

Enjoyed it thoroughly. Have been coming to Chicago for the Radio Boot Camp conference over the last 5 years. First time at the Swiss. Best hotel we have had. Great hotel, outstanding staff. Special recognition to Ruth at the front desk. Always cheerful, friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The Palm restaurant was so good we ate there 2 nights in a row, and took full advantage of the Lobby bar...yes we did. Appreciate the Green Earth credit to opt out of daily housekeeping. Thanks for the good time. We definitely stay with you again, both business and pleasure.

« Liked the hotel and staff. The billing statement to me was like a used car sales statement. For example, amenities-we never used and then an amenity tax was added on. Then there were state, county and city taxes. Of course, realize those are givens. »

We enjoyed the stay at the hotel. The check in was very positive as we needed to upgrade our room and we were able to work that out satisfactorily.

When we got there after check in, I was slightly disappointed actually because the door battery for our key didn't work! A house keeper told us to grt help and it took an hour for the maintenance guy to come up and charge it. We were slightly later than we wanted to be to Lollapalooza on the first day which was pretty disappointing.

The room was nice - spacious, clean. We referenced your Google listing and reviews on travel sites for more information and customer reviews. While the Google listing included a pool in the accommodations, and several reviews showed pictures of the space, we were disappointed to check in and find out there is not a pool.
