« Excellent service and staff attitude, prime location »

I was sick on the day I checked out. The operator was very helpful in arranging what I asked, congee, luggage pick up, check out and a taxi to my destination. It was all there at the peak hour with no hassle at all. The service staff handling my luggage was particularly helpful and empathetic. It was heart warming for me who was really sick. Swimming pool and sauna was good. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable. Excellent location. The only improvement can be done was the breakfast, but if you want a simple one, it is absolutely fine. I have decided to go swissotel next time in Shanghai.

For the most part all Ok but not fantastic. Coffee machine in the room did not work and needed to request a separate device to heat water. Don't need to be so fancy just use instant coffee and a hot water bottle, much simpler and nothing to go wrong. Bottled water supply is very small. Breakfast was Ok but need much greater variety given the high cost.

« Nice location and clean »

I was staying 4 nights at Swissotel Grand Shanghai during my business trip. My red eyes flight arrive Shanghai at 5.30am, and I arrive hotel around 8.30am. Staffs are so kind to allow me early check-in at that time with breakfast include. It is was so impress and really appreciate the service. The room is so spacious and nice condition as ACCOR standard. I love the way that they maintain the room as western standard which is really nice and feel comfortable. Cheers!

Generally it was a good experience, the room is clear and tidy. The services of the staff members are better than expected. Just certain facilities (e.g. the door of the bath room) in the room is a bit old.

In general, it was up to my expectation. Only feedback probably was the bar right next to the main entrance lobby. I was there on a Saturday between 11am - 3pm for my meetings. The waitresses seem very tired and lack of emotions. When I shifted from a 2 person table to 4 person table, the waitress was simply looking at us without offering to help (until I motion for her assistance). I would expect Swissotel to train the staff more adequately on basic hospitality services.

« There are things to improve »

I am a frequent guest at Swissotel Shanghai, I stay there because of the location and convenience but there are several things to improve: 1. There is not enough outlets to charge the electronic devices and there is not any outlet next to the bed. 2. Gym is too basic. 3. The hotel doorman sometimes doesnt open the door even when he sees you comming. 4. This last time, there was a weird smell of humidity in floor 18 and also the rug outside the bathroom since day one was always wet which Its not clean. 5. For costumers like me that have long term stays, a fridge will be very convenient. But other than that, the hotel crew is very good, they fix problems really fast, they speak english, check in and check out is fast, the pool zone is very good, the food is good and the rooms are well distributed.

Everything was great besides you charging me for "complimentary" room upgrade. Not sure why you did it but you really should refund me the money back as I did not ask for an upgrade and you did not offer it. Complimentary mean free.

« I feel that the Swissotel Grand Shanghai puts it's guests at risk. »

I was travelling across Taiwan and China on business and had two separate bookings for stays in Shanghai. My first experience with the Swissotel Grand was not bad but not great. It wen't down hill when staff allowed: - A prostitute to proposition guests returning to their hotel rooms - Ignored a patron who was assisting her son to urinate at the table in the restaurant My second stay was worse. When I arrived at the hotel to check in after travelling from Nanjing, the hotel had cancelled my room booking. I was told at first that they could not find it, then I I was told there was no booking and when provided with the booking and confirmation number I was then told that as I had arrived after 6.30pm, my booking had been cancelled. I was not called or informed that the hotel was cancelling the booking. The hotel was fully booked and they were not able to get me a room leaving me stranded. I was able to book 2 nights with the JW Marriot myself and when I asked staff at the Swissotel Grand if they could at least get me there using the Hotel Car I was told no and was offered a taxi instead. I will not be returning to your hotel and my company will not be using your hotel given that we can guarantee your service.

Unfortunately I had a problem at check in. I booked the hotel through Trip.com and have NEVER had a problem with any booking in China using this system. Anyway, my two night stay was for some unknown reason split into two separate bookings by the hotel. We were able to clear up this confusion after 10 minutes and after having to show my booking receipt from Trip.com Then on both evenings I stayed, when I returned to the hotel at around 10pm my room key would not work. This should have been only a minor frustration, however as there were insufficient staff at reception this required much more waiting (25 mins on night 1) than I should have to put up with. On the second night when this happened I was not prepared to wait so long so I approached the concierge desk and they were able to help me. Terrible service for an otherwise good hotel located in a good part of the city.
