My experience at The Fairmont Istanbul was simply amazing! The hotel is modern, beautifully furnished and the staff are friendly and cannot do enough for their guests. The food was sublime! A taste sensation! To Chef Emre Inanir...your food is exceptional! It was a gastronomic delight! Your presentation equally delightful! I could not have enough! I am in the food business and eat at many famous restaurants, but your food was INCREDIBLE! You are a VERY TALENTED chef! Thank you for this wonderful experience and coming to meet me at the table! Amazingly helpful and hospitable staff - I want to include special acknowledgments for the Gold Lounge staff - they made my stay so comfortable and easy. My only problem at this property happened due to a disrespectful guest next door playing VERY loud music at 1 am and smoking inside the room. Guest staff on the phone engaged the security, but due to smoke coming from the vents, I had to change my room at 1 :20 am that evening. That said, front office moved on that very quickly. I unfortunately could not stay at a gold level room since they were not available.

Overall our experience was good; the staff were helpful & friendly and the facilities were good. However, one of the main reasons for us choosing the Fairmont was the two swimming pools. We used the outdoor pool a couple of time, but despite it being August the water temperature was really quite cold and so we used the indoor pool more. This is good (but not as nice as the outdoor location) apart from the poorly secured steps leading down into and out of the pool. Furthermore the immediate surround area gets very wet and is dreadfully slippery, so much so that on my final visit to the pool on Wednesday afternoon 7th August I lost my balance and fell heavily on my right side, grazing my right elbow and badly bruising my right hip/upper right leg. The staff at reception tried to assist - I had already used ice on both areas to try to limit the bruising & swelling - and they applied a plaster to my elbow as this was bleeding. I have now returned to my home in London and find I have a badly bruised right hip which is causing quite a lot of pain and discomfort and is not allowing me to sleep very well as I disturb whenever I turn on to my right side - which is the side I usually sleep on. Thank you for addressing the issue through our survey tool as well. I’m truly sorry to have heard that your hip still hurts. I wish you the soonest recovery. Despite the first aid efforts, we suggest our guests to go to a medical facility after such incidents to ensure that required steps are taken in a timely fashion when it was sitll crucial to intervene and further pain is avoided as much as possible. After the incident occured, we performed a meeting for whether enhancements are needed at the wet areas; not only at the pool but also at the other wet floor areas. The manufacturer and applier of antislippery material guarantees that the material remains content at the wet areas. However, we’re looking for options to maintain a better surveillance by the use of technology or human factor. Mr. H., On the other side, we’re happy to receive your appraisal towards our staff and facilities. We would love to welcome you back whenever you plan another trip to this side of the world. I have to say that faiurmont above all hotels stands out because of his people. Their reception, Ayberg, Ogur, are fantastic. In their concierge, Furkan is wonderful, always thinking ahead. In the lounge, Semra, Haval, and Dugyu have so much attention to detail and above all Murat that is making such a difference. I advise everybody to stay in this hotel.

« Comfortable but a bit noisy in the room »

Overall my stay in the hotel was great, the staff were amazing, especially Hasan who served me several times in the Japanese restaurant so thanks to him for that. My only issue was with the room itself and its background noise level, I was on the 30th floor so expected it to be relatively quite as I am a very light sleeper. The windows of the room did not block out the outside noise of traffic and the mosque at all, therefore I found it difficult to sleep without going out and buying ear plugs. I am not sure if the windows were single glazed but if so, they really should be double or triple glazed windows to block out noise.
