It had snowed in Orange the previous day so the temp. when we arrived at sundown was cold outside.My wife feels the cold terribly but upon entering the motel room the heater had been set so it was very welcoming. After the long car trip of 7 hours we were both hungry and looking forward to relaxing and the convenience of the Ex Services Club was fantastic.

The rooms were spotless and the beds comfortable. However, as one who needs a quietness and darkness to have a good night's sleep, you rooms had an incredible amount of ambient light, from the very bright hall lights seeping in through the front door, to the electronic box behind the television which emitted a bright light, and finally the smoke detector, which had an unusually bright flashing LED right above the bed. The breakfasts at the Diggers were very good, but we made the mistake of having breakfast delivered to our room on the first day. It arrived with the food cold - made edible only by 45 seconds of re-heating in the room's microwave oven. Evidently, it had been a long time between when the breakfast had left the kitchen to when it was delivered to the room, as the white toast had the consistency of cardboard and could not be rescued. The complimentary bottles of drinking water that were supplied were appreciated. On each occasion that we arrived back at the hotel in the evening, all the car parking spaces were taken, so we had to drive a long circuitous route to the car park at the back of the building.

During Checking in process, I specifically stated that I was a light sleeper and so I asked for a Room, that was quiet, out of the way and given the pending snow an AC that worked well etc. Instead what I given, was a room that was near the stairway, the Air-conditioning was not working well and shut down on one occasion, wind/sound was coming thorough also rain was dripping on the inside window sill with a constant dripping sound, Sounds coming from inside the ceiling which all made for a very uncomfortable stay.

Always happy with location and staff welcome on all our visits to Orange. Being accepted readily as a regular guest is pleasing. Would welcome some softer pillows as an alternative to the large bulky ones, which are ideal to lean against while sitting up reading or watching TV, but too hard and high to sleep on.

Six weeks prior to our visit to Orange I made a booking for a one bedroom apartment on the ground floor for 3 nights. Unfortunately, when we arrived we had a top floor apartment....yes the staff were very apologetic but nothing was done to fix their mistake ....my husband has a leg problem so it was very inconsiderate and inconvenient.If there wasn't a room available why didn't the staff say so at the time.

Our room was excellent, spotless and very comfortable. The reception staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast on the Friday was cold even though we arrived early at 7 am. The young lady / host on the Friday morning at breakfast was exceptional with her local knowledge of the wineries, locations and weekend events. She gave us lots of ideas to fill our weekend and her service was also fantastic. The buffet breakfast on the Saturday morning was much better and more acceptable temperature. The Chef was friendly and spoke with us about the local happenings. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay with Mercure Orange.
