« Lot of toom for improvement !!.. »

New hotel facilities and gentle staff but inefficient and unsuccessful at 1/ Fixing wifi in my room 1607 (wifi unstable); no computer internet connectivity w my company for 3 days !! Had to do do a lot of catch-up work.. Also wifi very unstable inside the hotel (whatsapp, skype,etc..) 2/ Fixing my aircon; room still heating when 25 degrees outside; poor sleep/bad headache every morning 3/ Fixing electric sparks inside the room when switching electrical appliance; outside the room (elevators in and out) 4/ Arranging airport taxi transfer for my return flight; had to wait > 30min to get a taxi; almost missed my flight; unnecessary stress and risky driving to airport to catch the plane 5/ Arranging to speak to Hotel manager (no GM, no one in charge apparently; weird) 6/ Arranging for discount or compensation despite my complaints and reported dissatisfaction to the front desk

« A new hotel in the city centre »

A new hotel in a great location just 5 to 10 minutes walk to the main square and next door to a small shopping centre and supermarket. There are also some local restaurants across the road. Being so new the rooms are very clean and modern but also spacious and comfortable with every amenity expected of a Novotel. All have good views over the city and surrounding hills. Big walk-in shower and modern bathroom with lovely new fluffy towels. With friendly and helpful staff (who speak some English), the hotel also has great facilities - free wifi works well, sparkling new indoor pool and sauna, fully equipped modern gym with all-new equipment, good and reasonably priced buffet dinner and breakfast, and a couple of bars to choose from (wine lounge and beer house). Room rates are very competitive and I would highly recommend as a great place to stay in Ulaanbaatar.

The receptionist when we check out last February 10, 12PM was disrespecful (woman). The man however was polite. She insisted that we consumed a soda from the mini bar which is not true because we have our own supplies and even explained to her that it was only 3 cans when we came. Yet she never apologized and even told us that it was our mistake. The rooms we booked are supposed to be for 2 persons each but the toiletries provided was only good for 1. The pool is too cold and we requested to make it warm but no action was given.

It didn’t my expectations. When I arrived nobody greeted. There was one guy only and he helped me with my luggage. When I asked where’s everyone he said they went for lunch. Swimming pool was not working. The room was too hot and I couldn’t turn down temperature. When I tried to call the receptionist the phone was not working.

I found the staff to be courteous and friendly, especially as a foreigner, they were also quick to act on my requests, whether it was a sewing kit or bottles of water. The room was beautiful, comfortable and thoughtfully equipped for the traveller. The complimentary breakfasts were excellent, delicious and satisfying. « Nice new hotel with big rooms but low breakfast offer »

I had a nice stay again, really enjoyed the upgrade to a big room and the hotel is clean and comfortable, but once again the food offer for breakfast is very limited. I believe this is something you will have to improve on to compete with the other hotels in the city. Best regards

The Novotel Ulaanbaatar is a new hotel close to the city's centre and some 10 minutes walk from the business district, shops and touristic areas. Staff is very friendly, rooms are spacious and well equipped. Breakfast is very good. However, 4 months after opening, several services are still not operating, such as the gym, pool and sauna. Although I was informed that they should be opened during my stay, they were not. Staff is also not well informed on when they will open and they just inform you everyday that the pool will open next day, which is never the case. Also the furniture and equipment in the rooms is a bit precarious: the lamp in the ceiling in the bathroom felt down in the middle of the night, the curtains are not well fixed and the wardrobe shows some dangeorus nails on the upper part of the shelves. I may try staying at the hotel again if all services are fully operational, but there is still room for improvement

« Half OK, half strongly disappointing »

OK: room is generally fine. Bed is good. Staff is friendly and helpful. Not so great: breakfast and food in general (acceptable, not more). Absolutely bad: hotel was advertised as having swimming pool, spa and fitness center. I chose it on this basis and booked for 7 nights. But NONE of this was operational yet. Should have stayed elsewhere.

« Good but requires improvement »

I understand that this hotel isn't ready yet, since during my stay there were works in the lobby on assembling the lobby bar, as well as driveway and fence. The room I was upgraded to was nice and spacious. Breakfast and lunch had a lot of variety. Pick-up and drop-off from the airport was very good; driver spoke very good Russian, was on time, and I was really surprised by a high standard of the vehicle used for the pick-up which is rare for Mongolia. The biggest issue I've faced was poor understanding of English by reception staff (I've spoken with 4-5 employees during my stay), so it's definitely something which requires improvement.

Upon arrival the staff were very welcoming and accommodating, I'm looking forward to the opening of the gym. The only issue I had was with the air conditioning not functioning well at night causing me to wake up from the heat.
