I had come to Mantra on Hay before. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel beautiful. Good location. Cat bus outside. Close to many attractions in the city. A little outdated but still comfortable stay.

I never place a bad review but in this instance, this would have to have been my worst Accor experience Ive had and Ive stayed with them all around the world. I am a platinum member, normally stay 10 days to 2 weeks at a time at any hotel. In this instance, when checking in ( which involved waiting 20 minutes to be served and there was nobody Infront of me ) the receptionist asked for my card for a holding deposit on my room for the stay, which is fine and is normal practice. I explained that because of the length of my stay I may chose to extend for a couple of days at the end but I need one charge and one invoice at the end. She explained that that was fine and that was what would happen. She them proceeded to charge my card for the full stay ( not just a holding deposit ). When I asked what she had just done as that was not what she what she agreed would happen, her response was" Thats our normal process". I explained that not 30 seconds earlier she had told me she was just taking a holding deposit and that now she has locked my card for the next 2 days and I would receive multiple invoices and charges. Her response was , well there is nothing I can do. I explained that as a platinum member I have never had this happen before and her response " Well we have a lot of Platinum Members ". I was pretty much dismissed by her as she blank smiled at me so I took my room key and left as continuing the conversation was going to be fruitless. The next issue I had was the following day when I was locked out of the carpark. I had to find a park on the street a fair way from the hotel. Again I went to reception to try to find out why my access didn't work ( again 20 minute wait ). Same receptionist, her response " You didn't nominate parking" I explained that I did and not only that but you have also charged me for 10 days parking the previous day. She implied that I was the one at fault and just handed my room card back and said, should work now and dismissed me. Third issue I had was that I asked for the room to be serviced on day 5 (as I was staying 10 nights the room was only due to be serviced twice I had learnt ). I did this at reception ( yes, same receptionist. Next day came back and the room was not serviced. Went down to reception to ask what was going on as I had packed up my thinks to make it easier for them when cleaning. This time there was a new person at reception . She explained that a service request was not put in but she would put one in for a service the following day.. She did and the following day my room was serviced. All this might sound a little petty and again I never complained before but I spend quite a bit of money with Accor throughout the year and I specifically booked this hotel as it was part of the group. The attitude I continually received from the reception was unacceptable and I don't know if being locked out of the carpark and the canceling of my room being serviced was coincidental. I definitely wont be staying here again and this experience has left me questioning my loyalty to the accor group.

Excellent stay here everything was perfect, beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Air conitioners in every room was a fantastic bonus and nice and cold, staff were exceptionally nice.Great location close to everything and very central
