« A pleasant stay with family »

The staffs were very helpful and being a gold member i was upgraded to a junior suite. Accor hotel never fail me in getting an upgrade in all my stays so far. The room was clean, enough water and towel. The beach has less people so my kids enjoy playing in the beach which is just at the back of the hotel. Overall it was a pleasant and satisfying stay with my family in Mercure Penang.

room were a tad ran down with patchy paint works but I was displeased with mouldy and dirty aircon the most! toilets are very small. breakfast can be improved on the bread works!

Pro: Good Sea View and less crowd. Con: the bath room flood every time when shower more than 3 minute. Make complaint to front counter but no action taken. Every disappointed with Accor services. Also the bed linen is dirty during our stay.

Upon checking-out, I checked the room to see if any of my personal belongings was left behind. To my dismay I found an opened packet of condoms in my bedside drawer. Feeling disgusted, the first thing that came into my mind was 'did the hotel clean up the room properly before I checked-in since the complimentary tea tray was also quite filthy and a rusty kettle', 'did they change the duvet??' I went to the front desk and asked for the Manager but manager was not around. Hence passed the complaint to the front desk. 3 days has passed and no manager bothered to call to apologise. I guess to this hotel, this incident is of no big deal to them. Furthermore, breakfast area was quite run down and breakfast served with files on food was definitely no 4-star!

Basically the staff are helpful but they need more trainings. The scale and the security box were broken and no one replace it. Ask for towel in the reception but didn't get the towel in the room and need to call the reception for 2 times just to get a new towel. The shower room design is so poor as the water always go out of the bath room when you finished the shower. The hotel breakfast buffet has different variety of food but need more improvements for the eggs stations as the taste is not good. Facilities like gym and pool are a plus during the whole stay.
