Fabulous staff, great food, wonderful spa, tired decor.

Staff were fab - very welcoming, friendly & helpful. Food was delicious - lunch, evening meal & breakfast all faultless, and generous portions (although a little odd that complimentary drink could be gin & coke or gin & lemonade but not gin & tonic!!). Spa treatments were wonderful - would benefit from a quiet room to come round after, rather than straight back out to a noisy & brightly lit reception area. Only negative would be very tired & slightly grubby decor - worn & stained carpets in room & on stairs, worn & dirty radiator in restaurant area, dirty marks in shower & mould on tile grout. Also cleaning cloths & spray left on radiator next to breakfast buffet - not very hygienic! But despite the negatives overall we had a lovely stay.

I booked a spa experience stay for me and my daughter as she was getting married the following day. On arrival we went to reception and told her we have arrived for a spa day and lunch at 1pm. The receptionist just looked at us as if to say why have you come to me. We asked where do we go for the lunch and she just pointed and mumbled something. Me and my daughter thought she had pointed to go outside somewhere and puzzled went to look for the restaurant. It turned out the restaurant was just next to reception and not outside in another building. We arrived in the restaurant at 12:50pm and we was asked to fill out our order form we ordered a sandwich and cup of tea, and a scone Our sandwich arrived at 1:25pm (egg sandwich with fries) the sandwich was nice and the chips were cold. We still hadn’t had our drink so we went to the bar and bought a drink as we didn’t realise we would have to wait this long. Our cup of tea arrived at 1:35pm.( we told the waitress we had not received our drink, which we ordered from arrival ) After lunch the waitress then asked us at 2pm if we had ordered something else ( we had previously given her our order) we said we had ordered scones with jam and cream We then decided to abandon waiting any longer and went and told her to cancel as we knew we would be waiting again. We don’t blame the waitress, as she was busy. This just seemed disorganised when we had already put our order in, I could understand the wait if we had ordered a hot meal… We then went to the spa which was lovely and we had a great day. We then checked in and went to our room which was a bit like a crime scene with big stains in the carpet, but the room was fine.I just wouldn’t have expected this in a top hotel. We then went for our evening meal which was really nice and a completely different experience than lunch Breakfast the next morning was lovely too. Overall a good stay just spoilt a little with lunch, as seemed a little unorganised.

Was given a twin room at the higher rate so not great

After looking into your booking, you were booked on a block through your company and the rooms are allocated based on what we have available.
