The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet (though perhaps this was due to not many other guests?) though the bathroom could do with a makeover, and the quality of the breakfast was disappointing not least the overcooked bacon and very dry nodules of scrambled egg.

After reading some other older reviews we were a bit nervous about staying here but decided to take a chance. However, we were not disappointed. The refurbished rooms were of a good size and were very clean and comfortable. The location near the centre of town suited our purposes very well, although the canal area behind the property was pretty run down. This was not the fault of the hotel, but the local authorities need to do something about it. We would have no hesitation staying here again or recommending it to our friends.

super checkin, super bar staff and food. however in my room, the laminate floor is so slippy. highly polished, i slipped twice. the safe was locked, and parts missing off it. the bathroom light above sink wasnt working.

Room fantastic (got an Upgrade!), all was good. The only thing that let you down was Breakfast on Sunday - the choice was very poor (no Fresh Fruit or Grapefruit segments for example), and there was only limited Staff (one member of Staff and a Trainee, who took most of the Member of Staff's time so she could not concentrate on what needed replenishing etc. - NOT her Fault - poor Management of Resources).. Also, the Coffee was very poor - the machine (Bean to Cup) was not set up properly, and the Ameicano was mostly Water with a tiny hint of Coffee (I made one as an Espresso and added hot water, and this was fine).

No air condition in the room and closed window that could not be opened leads to a room temperature of 27 deg C during the night. The receptionist hat not been able to get the right address on the invoice within 15 min of time. The promise to sent the correct invoice afterwards via email had been empty, I´m still waiting.

The rooms were nice and modern and well equipped. The staff were all very helpful especially Jodie in the bar but the food was absolutely abysmal and completely at odds with the rest of the hotel. I've had better meals in the premier inn.

I have stayed at Mercure hotels with my parents before but as I was younger I never really noticed much . Apart from the air conditioning not working ( we were provided with fans ) I had a fabulous stay . My partner was up for the night and we needed a last minute hotel room , everything from making the booking until we checked out was an extremely pleasant experience . I would definitely recommend and if I ever need a nights stay again I would call Mercure first . Thank you .

First time staying as a gold card member and no welcome drink/gift was offered I asked for late check out and was told 12:00 is the latest which I know I can do late check out until 14:00 if there is availability. Room was very hot air con didn’t seem to work very well on the first night however second night was a lot better. Check out was easy as always but over all slightly disappointed.

The staff were lovely b our room was freezing. The hotel did supply us with a fan heater for the room. The pool and the gym were adequate but the Jacuzzi was freezing and it would've ben nice to have comfortable loungers to relax around the pool if warm enough. The function room was cold and room service was advertised as 24 hours yet when we tried to order Saturday evening we were told that there was not enough staff on to deliver that service. The member of staff at breakfast was lovely and there was a good selection.

Window leaking and when I asked for it to be mopped up, I was told that the staff could not do anything about the winows. So I asked for some paper towel and a fabric towel, I cleaned up the brown water and put the towel on the windowsill to catch the drips. The next day I thought that the cleaner's would change the towel, but when we arrived back the smell in the room was very musty, so I went to reception for a clean towel, to get told that I should not have to clean up the water and was offered a different room, but as I only had 2 nights left, I could not be bothered in packing up to move rooms, so I cleaned up the water. Then we noticed that the cups in our room had not been washed, so I went to reception and was given an apology and some clean cups. The next day when we arrived back to the room, it had not been cleaned at all, the beds had not been done, the bins had not been emptied and once again we came back to a musty room. I complained at reception and Vanesa was very apologetic and was mortified at the problems that we had been thought. That evening after dinner my daughter become very ill with a virus, and we had an ambulance out to see her, which is why we knew it was a virus, did see pick it up somewhere when we were out. As the only place we went for the 2 days was my 93 year old mother and she was not ill. So maybe she picked up some bug from cleaning up the brown water from the windowsill. We left the next morning, with the cleaner's knocking on the door, but as they had not cleaned the morning before and we had had a very late night waiting for the ambulance, they had to wait for us to leave. I have stayed with you at least 5 times in the past, and each time has been a bit worse than the last. Not sure I will stay with you anymore.

« Overall, pretty good. »

The room was good size and clean. The staff was very friendly. The bed was a little "mushy" for us, and we would have preferred having a top sheet in addition to just the duvet/sheet combination. It was pretty cold when there and the heat did not work very well. Had a very hard time getting it to respond and rise above 19.7. Our daughter was in separate room and we asked 4 ties over a period of 6 days to get her broken TV fixed..it never was addressed, not good.
