A lovely hotel. Staff very friendly and professional, nothing is too much for them. Great breakfast too. Lots of parking. Child friendly. Pool area needs a bit of attention, but nice all the same. Will definitely return and recommend to friends and family.

« Very nice and relaxing. »

My husband and I arrived at the hotel after our wedding to find we had been given an upgrade due to it being our wedding day. The room was spacious, clean, had ample facilities for tea/coffee and even juice and water in the fridge. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, there were plenty of options for everyone and the dining room had a relaxed atmosphere.

« Budget hotel and I feel my room was the further budget room »

Stayed a number of times previously. Happily greeted by reception. Then I got to my room not very clean. Window left open and was fairly cold. That night there was a strong smell of spray paint or some sort of aerosol. It started to enter my room and wasn’t pleasant. That night I tried to sleep but was often woken up by the corridors door. Second night I was back from work, I finished some work then headed out for a drink and some dinner. I waited at the bar with no on around to serve, I then was finally served. There was then issues adding my food to my room. Finally I have a pint and a beer in my hand. Another night of having to listen to the door slam. Breakfast the first morning was as expected and ok. The second morning I arrived and was the only one in the whole area. Food was not tasty and had been there for a while.

Attended a work event here. The staff are mostly friendly (apart from breakfast), but struggled to keep up with the demands of a not particularly busy bar. Drinks service was painfully slow and a little more help was needed. A bad error on the hotel's part, as drinks weren't particularly cheap. The rooms were basic, but functional and in need of upgrading, but at least the aircon worked. I though the breakfast selection and quality was poor, from greasy looking mushrooms to watery scrambled egg and terrible unappetising bacon, that looked like it had been left in oil for about a month before being kicked around the kitchen floor. The service from the short haired blonde lady didn't exactly add to the experience - quite unhelpful. I asked for firm poached eggs, as I hate them runny, but unfortunately this was too much and they came out runny, so I left them. I think all-in-all I had a couple of tinned tomatoes and a bowl of fruit salad. The function staff and food were good and probably added an extra couple of points on my rating. Small portions though. However, I have to say I wouldn't stay here under my own dime.

I stay often at the hotel prior to WBA home matches, this was my first since the renovations and therefore expecting some significant changes. The rooms had been completely changed, I stayed in standard room although the décor was improved the room layout was more cramped the bed was too large for the room and the new chair was again oversized. The desk had shrunk leaving little working space, the hanger area had significantly reduced and the new safe was unable to take my laptop, the space in this area was also taken up with the tea and coffee making facilities Overall the room had better décor but the available space had not been best used to give the guest a comfortable feel

« bathroom not fit for purpose and potentially dangerous to use »

room size and newly refurbished room great. facilities good. appreciated costa coffee. however problematic due to poor planning in bathroom refit. the shower is overbath and tap end and there is a fixed glass screen that doesn't move at the top half of the bath -therefore need to climb in and out of bath at the bottom end. there is no grab rail to steady this and the step down to the bathroom floor from a wet bath into a steamy bathroom is risky. Especially for any one with even mild mobility issues. Holding onto the screen or towel rail is not acceptable and lack of a secure grabrail will increase the risk of fall and injury if one of these breaks during a fall. staff did not appear to appreciate the immediate risk - told me there was a disabled room for mobility impaired people to book - i have never had to use one of these before in any hotel i have stayed at and would feel that even a problem like joint stiffness would be impairment enough to increase risk in this bathroom set up. i managed two fearful showers during my 3 day stay whilst i would have preferred to take at least 6.This spoilt my enjoyment of facilities. Also having to climb into an empty bath naked to turn on the shower which is then cold and needs adjusting to get to right temperature whilst remaining in the bath because you cant do this from outside the bath due to the fixed screen is very irritating as well as uncomfortable - how do you think people that want a bath will manage to turn on and adjust the taps too? are you expecting them to climb in and out of the bath or perhaps sit there whilst it fills? this lack of sensible attention to detail is disappointing and not 4* in my opinion and i doubt the AA would disagree

We came here for a conference and evening event, and it ticked all the boxes. Our room was newly refurbished with real style. It all went very well. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good. Nice to have a swim in the morning. Would recommend to a friend.

I contracted a stomach bug during my stay, the manager was supposed to call me but didn't! and left me on my own with no help or assistance, I had to crawl from my bed to chase him up, he still didn't call me !! Absolutely disgusting level of customer care, I also don't think its professional to call customers darling !!

The standard room offered @ GBP 110 , was the size of 1 double bed with no space to move. The toilet were so small that the tissue roll hit you in the arm while using the same. ?? One of the worst Hotel rooms in accor portfoloio. The lady at the reception said this is only size and if I need a bigger room pay GBP 20/ day .I had no choice but to accpet.. She al;so set the accor points are not set up in this property yet . So the next upgraded room was 20 sq ft larger. This should be an IBIS property and not a mercure as projected. . The rooms were freshly painted and all the time smelling of chemicals. Truly disappointing

I’ve been staying here 4 nights per week for just over 5 years now and have personally spent approximately £40,000 at your hotel. I was delighted to be put in one of your newly refurbished king rooms and it suited me very well. Unfortunately I’ve just checked in again and the Manager has decided that despite me being here 5 years, supporting the hotel when it’s empty, spending approximately £40,000 of my own money and still staying even when there is no loyalty scheme, discounts or free nights that I am not worthy of a refurbished King room and can only stay in an “old one”. Honestly made me feel awful, unappreciated and taken for granted - I was given room 241, with a cracked toilet, stained carpet, non functioning air conditioning, no shower gel and a broken doorstop. I felt special again last week, first time since the hotel had been taken over, but that was very short lived and it was made very plain hoe insignificant I am in your new plans. How not to satisfy a customer.

Firstly I am really sorry that you feel that we have let you down this was certainly not our intention and I hope you can give me the opportunity to put this right. I understand that you were given the option of one of our refurbished double rooms or one of the old style superior king rooms and it was this room that you took the option of. I am sorry there were issues in this room of which I can only apologise for and we do have a duty manager on site 24 hours to ensure that any issues are sorted at the time so that no discomfort is suffered by the guest. I understand that this was not reported but please do allow me to try and rectify this for the remainder of your stay this week. Moving forward we can discuss the supplement to one of our Privilege rooms. We have stayed in the past and have enjoyed our stay. The standard this time was not as high as before. We used to have lots of towel in the bathroom. This time, it was only one to share between two adults!!! Asked for Omelette for our breakfast on Sunday. The staff came back to say the hotel was not making Omelette for that morning!!! The bedroom carpet was not cleaned to a good standard as before. No biscuits in the room as before. We understand it is now under a new management. The standard was below that of last year and previous years.

Air conditioning was great as were the staff. I would have given a 10 but breakfast was not ready at 6.30 as it usually is, I had to make do with fruit as the hot food was not available by the time I had to leave at 6.40. Only a smaalissue.
