« I declined to stay because the mattress was filthy »

The mattress was absolutely disgusting. It was sagging, stained and didn't have a mattress protector on it. I refused to stay and I feel astounded that Accor felt this was acceptable especially as the room was excessively overpriced at £157 B&B. The manageress is very apologetic but she couldn't change anything about the room. However, she did ensure that the meeting I attended the next day was well cared for with food and drinks - so thank you to her and the catering team.

Service was friendly and staff was helpful, but the rooms were small, mattress was old and uncomfortable. The gym wasn't maintained, the elliptical didn't work and kept resetting as if there was a power shortage. Towel dispensers didn't have towels so you couldn't wipe off equipment when done. Seems like they are making improvements to the general areas but the rooms could use some attention.

A pleasant stay in a relaxed atmosphere. The food was good, and the staff helpful and friendly. A few issues in the bedroom, such as the noise from doors and also the air conditioning machines right outside our windows. Also the plug release in the bathroom was broken, so we had to dislodge it manually. But other than that, a pleasant experience.

First, the bad things: 1. On check-in, I asked about availability of slippers in room. The receptionist (let's call him Receptionist A) responded me saying he would check if slippers are in the room and if not, would send in a pair. A few hours later without the requested slippers, I went back to the information desk. This time, another receptionist (Receptionist B) was in duty, so I asked again whether there would be slippers available. Receptionist B kindly informed me that the hotel did not have slippers at all, and suggested me to go to the city centre to purchase a pair instead. Then I realized that Receptionist A had not been telling the truth, whether intentional or not. 2. Shower taps showed residual soap from previous guests. 3. Shower tap labels seemed to be taken out? The taps had bare screws exposed which seemed abnormal. 3. Hairdryer airflow cap fell off too easily. 4. Carpet floor looked worn down. 5. Curtains looked dirty. The good things: 1. Food was good, breakfast and dinner. 2. The availability of power sockets in the lobby was a boon. 3. Receptionist B was generally helpful.

We stayed in room 506 . The shower curtain in the bathroom was too short allowing water from the shower to fall onto the bathroom floor which resembled a swimming pool. I had to use the two towels available overnight to soak up the water. The standard of the breakfast has fallen. Having stayed at the hotel many times over the years one does notice.

Shocking, no welcome drink, a half finished hotel, poorly trained staff, a soulless bar and restaurant. The lift was covered in plastic corrugated paper and sticky tape and it did not improve from there.

Rooms very nice and customer service excellent. Only two gripes - very cold in the function room and the bar prices. The latter put people in the party off from actually staying in the bar. Early nights were had by most which was a shame

- Staff are lovely and always ready to help - Location is great - Clean and tidy, although sometimes an extra dust wipe could help. Also, area around the windows is fairly dirty - Surprised there is no toilet brush, which could be helpful when trying to keep the place and clean - Surprised there is no fridge in every room, stays longer than a day would always require a fridge for any food or drinks that we want to store

Initial impressions from the rear entrance weren’t great but the hotel was modern, clean and there was a friendly welcome. The fromt entrance was more welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable with everything I needed. There was a little noise as it was a ground floor room but I had a good night’s sleep. The breakfast was delicious and the ladies who were serving were friendly and kind. Overall it was a surprisingly comfortable stay and the hotel had great views of the river at breakfast. The only negatives were the small amount of milk provided for tea and coffee. The shower didn’t drain well although was hot and powerful. At one stage I had a coffee in the bar. I asked for a decaf flat white. I was so saddened that after a long wait for service, I was given a decaf instant coffee in hot milk! £3.50 for this felt a bit of a con. I have decaf due to health reasons and to only have instant coffee was a bit sad.
