I will take a moment before I leave this hotel to tell you why you should NOT stay here. I don’t know if my room was representative of the others, but it was the smallest, stuffiest, least updated of any hotel room I’ve stayed in in a very long time ( and I stay in hotels not infrequently). There was a defect in the floor that would be easy to stumble over as it was covered over by the carpeting, but easily ( and surprisingly) palpated when you walk on it ( room 417- clearly not your best room- if anyone from the hotel reads this). Neither the heat nor the air conditioning worked. Neither did the lights on either bed side table. Wi-Fi was only available in part of the room and wouldn’t work in the small place where I wanted to sit. The mattress was so terribly ….. what’s the word…..”poor” that when I rolled over in the morning it created a pain in my upper back that still hasn’t resolved ( I’m am a healthy, active 55year old, so this isn’t normally a thing). And then there was the 3/4 inch piece of sharp metal I found and removed from the carpet near the bathroom door.....( i have pic) At check in there was a line of about eight or nine people with only one person working at the desk. This, despite the manager coming by two or three times and seeing what was going on, but he did not call for extra staff or consider standing there himself and helping. When I called about extending my check out by one hour, as instructed to do at check in, I couldn’t get through to the front desk. When I went downstairs because I couldn’t get through, there was another eight or nine people waiting in line with one person at the reception. When I finally went by again two hours later, they told me, of course I couldn’t have that extra hour. Not a problem, I can’t wait to get out of this building. If I’m being polite, this hotel is a tired old lady and you’d be much better off staying almost anywhere else in the downtown core.

Perfect location. Stayed on 3rd floor - "fairmont gold" snacks were a delight. Comfort of the room was A+ bed & pillows. Very spacious, sat on the chaise lounge and admired the view of the Parliament Hill. Valete service was convenient with phone access, tells you the approx time your vehicle will be available.

Recently was in Ottawa for a work trip and stayed at a nearby "boutique" hotel initial night as Fairmont was fully booked entire week. However, day of arrival an opening became available and I quickly changed remainder of stay to Fairmont and was very glad I did. From initial walk up to hotel, to the classic grand lobby, Victorian interior design throughout i was quickly reminded that there is no comparison to the Fairmont Gold Experience. The location and view is amazing nestled in heart of downtown waterfront. Onky steps away from convention center, parliament buildings and rh3 bustling Rideau cenree. The private concierge on Gold level was superb, and in particular Mythli. Certain people have a unique skill and charm in dealing with clients which adds that extra special touch to one's stay and Mythli definitely posses that. The room was good size, and in room dining was quick and exactky as requested. The Gold Lounge was well stocked with food and beverages though it would of been nice if it remained open to slightly longer hours in evening on the weekends. Its worth noting that there were two large high end nespresso machines so there was hardly any wait in creating your own personalized custom Italian drink. Will definitely stay again next time in town.
