Outdated, dirty and smelly

There is no other way of saying this but this place is an absolute dump. It’s outdated and filthy. There was a strong smell of weed and cigarette smoke in the corridors and in each of the two rooms we had booked, they smelt of sewage and vomit. Avoid, pay a bit more and stay somewhere decent.

We stayed in room 316 for two nights. I understand this is a budget hotel but it was so rundown I questioned why we were staying here. Very quickly I noticed walking barefoot that the carpet in our room made the soles of my feet turn black. We stayed here for a wedding and on the first morning I had to sit on the floor to have my hair done, the floor was absolutely filthy; the carpet was beige, but it was so covered in black dots that it actually appeared that was the design. The walls had multiple handprints all above the bed, all adult handprints. Also weirdly, the skirting was about 5mm above the floor, but I am totally perplexed by this, had the building moved or had there been a flood on the 3rd floor? The mind boggles. The bathroom was clean but the floor lino was coming away and bubbled. Didn’t use the shower but my husband said it was lacking pressure. Rooms with even numbers face the motorway, if you keep your window open you will just hear motorway traffic all night long. The mattress was akin to laying on a bale of hay, it was so hard. The breakfast looked deciding anaemic from others photos so we went to the pub next door which was pretty much the same price but looked edible. It feels terrible to criticise a place that’s £49 a night, given as the staff were working so hard but the brand is ultimately responsible for the obvious bio hazard that is this hotel. All around the lift entrance the paint was worn and old. This hotel so desperately needs a refurb. The staff were absolutely fab, pleasant and helpful. The aesthetic of the building was the letdown and that's primarily the business you're paying for.

Beware parking fine for charging your car

We charged our car here for an hour two weeks ago as we were desperate. No warning signs were displayed that the charging point wasn’t available to the public but we’ve received a £100 fine today from a ‘civil enforcement company’. We have regularly used Ibis hotels in the past but never again

Nasty Rooms with sticky floors 🤢

I’ll start with the positives. * reception staff were really pleasant, nice and helpful * plenty of parking * bar and restaurant area clean and modern with good bar prices. Now the negatives * Dated rooms (in itself isn’t a problem if it’s clean but..) * room was filthy, you just could not feel clean in it. The flooring had the feel of an old nightclub that you stick too * Basic cleaning just hadn’t been done at all. Corners of the room looked like it was growing blue mould (photos attached) and all kinds of stains on the walls * only 2 pillows for 2 of us, I’m ok with just one but had to go reception to ask for another. * would of asked to be moved but my friend who was also staying there had the same issues with her room (and apparently smelt very bad) and her next room was just as filthy just without the smell so we didn’t see the point. * due to the state of the room wasn’t sure about how clean the bed was but luckily had brought a throw with us which made me feel better * room very hot with no way of turning down the temperature. Have stayed in a few ibis and they are usually great but I think this is the dirtiest place I’ve ever stayed. I don’t expect a lot but basic cleaning isn’t much to ask. Would not recommend and glad it was just for 1 night.
