Perfectly adequate for a one-night stay

Arrived early and was offered a complimentary upgrade due to Gold status. Room wasn't ready yet (it was only 9:15am), so we left bags and went out sightseeing. The front desk called about 11:20 to say the room was ready, and we appreciated this courtesy and that the room was ready well in advance of normal check-in time. So far, so good. When we got back to the hotel around 16:00, the front desk checked ID before providing the room keys - another positive as it showed they are serious about security. The room itself was fine. There were high ceilings and large windows opening onto the canal. The bathroom was large, though strangely up a step from the bedroom, and there was a smell of bad drains. Toiletries provided were Dyptique, so high quality. Plenty of large towels, plus bathrobes and slippers. Shower pressure was good, though the shower leaked so the floor mats were constantly soaking. Room décor was a bit dated. It could do with a refresh I think. The hotel was kind enough to provide a cake for my husbands birthday, which we appreciated. Dinner in Bridges restaurant was OK. We loved the early courses (scallop, langoustine and caviar), but the latter dishes (in particular cauliflower, pikeperch, and the mango desert) were underwhelming. Wine matches were excellent and the sommelier was very knowledgeable and engaging. Overall though, this was priced on a par with Michelin-starred restaurants (€500+ for 2 people), and didn't live up to that standard. Service was initially very slow - after 30 mins, we were still waiting to order, and the waiting staff seemed very stressed This did improve as the evening went on, but sadly that was as the food quality (in our opinion) started to decline, so it never quite lived up to the price tag. The friandises promised on the menu never materialised - presumably because we didn't order coffee given the late hour. Breakfast the next morning was a similar affair. Staff seemed stressed, and orders were incomplete. My dim sum was underwhelming, the Dutch pancake had far too much cinnamon on it, completely drying out my mouth. My husband ordered scrambled eggs with sides of sausage, bacon, mushrooms, and hash brown. What turned up was scrambled egg with mushrooms cooked into the mixture, with bacon on the side. He had to chase for the sausages and the has brown never did reach us. The hotel location is great, but be aware that there are very busy pubs nearby, so there is some street noise in the can view rooms. Front desk was helpful, and accommodating, rooms clean and adequate, but the restaurant needs some improvements to live up to the price tag and provide a truly luxury experience.
