I checked in on Apr 8th for business trip I prestwick, originally plan was to check out on 12th but due to flight changed to early morning, we have to move last night to hotel near airport so on Apr 9th morning we requested checked out date moved to 11th, it was a reasonable request for business traveler and such request got rejected by reception lady who seems very new to the job, reason was hotel policy. I insisted this is a reasonable ask and wanted to speak with her manager, but surprisingly her manager refused my request as well with the reason that changing 4 nights to 3 nights would result difference in my room rates, I told her I’m perfectly find to pay for the delta, I thought this was a nice settlement but later the reception lady told me 4 nights total rates remain unchanged but I am ok only stay 3 nights, this is not “rate delta” but no difference to 4 nights charge, I requested to speak her manager again but got rejected, reason was “she is busy no time to see me”. I have more than 15 years business travel with titanium status to marriot hotel and diamond status to Hilton, I have to say I have never seen such rude and terrible attitudes to customer. I gave up the argue and moved on to my business travel, in the next day I saw reception changed to another lady so I wanted to give another shot and asked the same request, that lady accepted my request immediately and told me that a process needs to go through, refund should go back to my credit card in a few days, and it did. So to my understanding, the reception lady and her manager in prior day was either unprofessional that have total wrong understanding of their own hotel policy, or intentionally being rude to me. This is my first time bringing customers ( I. Booked three rooms) to this hotel and I will continue do for 2-3 times per year, unless I am certain what reception lady and her manager did to me will not happen again I uwill never come to this hotel again, and I will also share this story to my colleagues in the U.S. and warn them not to come this hotel One more thing, when I checked in I asked for ge rate when I learned we have GE corporate rates here, and got rejected, reason is because I didn’t book using GE rates so they could not change it. I booked my room on hotel official site I am very sure there is GE rate for selection. Any way, I had the worst experience ever in this hotel, I will definitely not come back and descourage all my colleagues that may come in the future

I can understand why reception had told you about your rates as this was booked on a non refundable rate hotel policy is that no changes can be made to the booking once it has been confirmed and guest has checked in, this is also why they couldn't change the rate code for you to the GE rate. To get a special rate you need to ask for it at the time of booking once the booking is in the system we at the hotel cannot change this. I understand that once the reception had spoken to our general manager this is when it was agreed for you to be refunded and was done straight away and why the reception was giving you different communication. Please accept my apologies and we will work on the communication with guests to make sure they are aware of this. Kind Regards Gordon Baillie

Having been caught in a 14 hour delay on the M6 and missed our ferry home we searched online for a pet friendly hotel in Ayr. Your hotel came up on the booking websites however, just to double check the pet friendly status, we were assured by your booking agent that our dogs would be welcome. We finally arrived at around 22:30 only to be told (after we paid for the room) that the hotel did not allow dogs !!. Basically we were left without a room for the night. I will never use Mercury ever again!

Another brilliant Easter weekend, great check in lovely welcome from reception staff, nice to be recognised by other staff members as frequent visits to this hotel. Room with a lovely sea view, room serviced each day of our visit, lovely and comfortable bed. Can not wait for my next visit.
